Since new legislation came into force last month (here in UK), have noticed increase i number of "surveys" being mentioned; call me cynical, but just wonder where your recent call would have led?? apart from gathering personal information, you've got to wonder what their act really is, especially where this number appears to represent a variety of different organisations. How does that work?

You may be right, but there were also a great deal of Market Research calls before the Election (how wrong they got that!). If, as previous posters have said, this is GFK/NOP they are a genuine Market Research company.  To stop any more calls from them or any other genuine MR company, just go to the comapny's website and use the "Contact Us" facility.  Input your telephone number and ask them to remove your data from ALL their data bases. This works.

I agree. Probably a 'rent a number' as it seems to be used for different purposes going by this thread. Very odd. Person (male) was well spoken and I couldn't hear any call centre in the background.

Received a call from this number. They said they were a market research company. When asked how they got my telephone number, the caller stated that they use a phone directory and change the last few numbers around until they get a number that is live.

Phoned very early on a Sunday morning when in bed to 'Conduct a survey'.Get a life you people.

Just got a call from this number 11 AM on a Sunday morning informing me that they are doing market research. Not impressed!!

There are 38 pages in this thread.      Most of them answer you asked.

The reality is that increasingly, the public are bombarded with cold calls about 'A recent accident' (which you didn't have), 'Your PPI claim' (for PPI you never had) or, as I had earlier today, the gentleman from 'The Windows Technical Centre' (claiming to have received non-existent error messages from your computer and in reality, wanting to sell you software or upload malware). These are often from spoofed numbers.

To an online claim from a cold caller along the lines of 'No, we are a genuine market research company', the default assumption for safety from identity theft has to be the famous phrase 'Well they would say that wouldn't they!'

Prudence indicates that these days, giving any form of information to cold callers at best is highly likely to result in yet more calls from whoever commissioned the questionnaire and at worst will provide the basis for identity theft scams.

The number called me yesterday. Guess it is spam.

but TescoMobile insisted I needed to change my very very old contract/tarrif (2008) 3 days ago - and now I get a call from this rubbish caller (20June2015) ! Never had any rubbish in all the years on the old tarif, only my wife and daughter know the number. Grrr.

I was Called  earlier today by this number missed the call checked it on google found it was dodgy so just warning others ; )

Called at 10 to 6 on a Sunday evening. Have these people got nothing better to do?!

Just Got a Phone call went to anwser hung up

A bloody irritating call just as I got into bed. Googled it and realised it was a scam call.

Called me asking me to take part in a survey. I politely declined after asking where they got my number from - only to be told that they dial randomly (Bull). I put the phone down and within 10 seconds the same female rang again. "Hello again - it's still no" this happened 4 times in total. So much for random dialling.

cause I was having dinner but they just put on extremely loud death/trash metal it sounded like the singer was the devil himself !!!.......not happy,these companys should be fined..

Just started calling my mobile on a regular basis, haven't bothered to answer, wish they would give up!

I said not to call back in that case.

Just had a call from this number.  Was asked for by my name, was assured she wasn't selling something but was doing a survey to ask about my experience with financial services, did I have the time to answer some questions, I said no so she then asked if there was anyone else in the house, I again said no so she thanked me and hung up. Yet another number to put into my phone under Spam survey (I've got more cold callers in my contacts list than I have friends and family!!)
