Oh really...this is from their website!

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a free service. It is the official central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing calls.

Sorry, but Market Research calls are NOT sales and marketing calls.  If you had read a little further you would have found the list of calls which TPS does not cover.  This includes Market Research, International, Withheld, Automated.  It also does not cover calls where you cannot give them the caller's name and it only applies to reputable UK sales and marketing companies.  Rogue UK companies ignore it.  You also have to report calls from UK companies before TPS will do anything about them.  Even then, they only contsact them and politely ask them not to do it again.

Just been called (Saturday afternoon). Well-spoken guy; wanting me to participate in some kind of traffic survey (I think - I was distracted). I just hung up.

Keeps calling my landline (which I don't give out), doesn't leave a message then when I tried to call number back an auto message says "extension party 909 cannot be reached" - very intrusive and weird especially if you are someone with a hearing impairment... I rushed to answer thinking it was a family member, but ohh no, it was these guys, so please, get these cold calls stopped, they are UNBEARABLE!

Missed call today from this no. No message left on answer machine. Do not trust all that is on the Internet. A little research has shown that, as previously stated by individuals, that this is a tele market research company. Differing from a marketing company in ways unknown to myself. However, a nuisance call is a nuisance call. Be it from a friend, relative or a company.Albiet, friends and family are usually exceptions, in as much to say as they have an emotional, if not, actual reason for phoning. How easy is it to create a web page stating that a company is an official company?! Thanks to this kind of site, people can share information on the calls recieved to figure out for themselves whether a genuine reason is given for the purpose of the call.especially to the more vulnerable people in society. Thanks whocallsme.com. A site I check for all unknown numbers.

The company are infact a genuine research company. They did the exit poll for the 2015 election as ive seen their name pop up a lot on the news. Nothing to worry about

Taken from the tps website, FAQs

Will registering on the TPS stop market research calls?
No, market research calls are not covered in the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 therefore companies conducting these types of calls are still allowed to call a TPS registered number. If you do not want to receive such calls, inform the caller to remove your details from their call lists.

No point conplaining that you are on tps. I asked the guy to remove my number and i never heard from them again

You (John, 9 May) says 'nothing to worry about' - I beg to disagree. My number is a business-at-home number and I find it very intrusive to be rung on a Sunday morning about a non-business matter and by a complete stranger! The number is registered for no junk calls but as is endlessly pointed out on this site, market research isn't considered to be junk calls by the powers that be...just by the recipients who feel (whatever the company's stated intention) harassed.

And Aaliyah, you were lucky! Asking for my number to be removed has never worked for long (maybe it has worked for a while, obviously I wouldn't know.)

That is interesting. Didn't realise that.

Have just been looking on internet for a new car - wondering if that is where the call has been triggered from ???? I didn't give them a chance to continue though. I absolutely loathe unsolicited calls and am signed up to TPS.
