- john22 replies to Luton Trading StandardsReceived a call from Rachael of Online pc masters offering to sort my computer out except that it seemed ok to me. She showed me I have 50,000 plus errors on my computer. For £83 she would giv eme full virus, malware etc cover for five years. She's phoning back in a couple of days.
- BoboI had a call today from a Sebastian Dawson (who had an Indian accent) from a company called Windows Server PC Masters based in Luton. I stupidly let him access my computer where he took control of the screen and showed me that there were lots of applications that were stopped and that my computer was in a critical condition. He purported to be from a company where all the Windows reports get sent and that he could fix my pc and make it much faster. He then showed me the website as I was really suspicious and said he could do a free scan for me but then went to a checkout and I saw that it would cost me £80. I said I did not want to do this and he said ok and stopped and logged off internet explorer. I did not hand over any money but I have seen all the posts on this being a scam. My main concern is that he had access to my laptop and whilst it is not my main pc I am wondering what information he could have got off my laptop. The tel no he gave me was 0208 144 5602

- mackem1525it was firstly an international call, indian sounding male, claiming that my computer had a lot of problems. He seemed to know alot about me before actually asking any questions. I fell for it all and allowed him to access my computer remotely. He showed me lots of errors and stopped programs and explained that he could sort it out. A annual subscription of £83.45 for a service backup 24/7 with pc masters (Luton) which I put through via a debit card. It took awhile to complete and finally I was phoned back with a ref no. and ' that telephone number' as a contact number.
Have I anything to worry about or was it just away for them to get me to sign up with this company.- Caller: unknown

Received a call from 'Jerry lewis' with Indian accent from Online PC Masters based in Luton claiming to be representing 'Microsoft' also claiming that automated messages from my PC to Microsoft were monitored by his company who were responsible for following up all automated messages and clearing the viruses that had been highlighted on these messages on behalf of Microsoft in the UK free. This was to be done from their computer and requesting me to logon to www.ammyy.com to enable a scan to be done and give him control over my computer. After challenging his authenticity I was connected to his senior technician - He was allowed access by me to begin the process of running a scan. He informed me of all the 'supposed' viruses and threats present on my computer which slowed my computer down. After this he went on to offer me 3 software programs at a reduced price of £159.00! he gave me his telephone number 020 8144 5602 (a london code). I informed him that they were advertising under false pretencies that they represented Microsoft and I believed this to be illegal as they were just using this to market their product illegally. He said he had not told me anything about Microsoft but apologised if his customer services had misinformed me. I reiterated that his company were acting illegally and ended the call and computer link. This companies practice may well be taking advantage of people who are gullable to their practices. If they are based in Luton then are they in compliance with the trading standards? - Bob Horton replies to Luton Trading StandardsJust had my second call from "Kevin Peterson" of Online PC Masters of Luton claiming to have received by computers auto response to Microsoft that my PC has a virus and was trying to get me to go online and allow him access to control my pc.....he has two hopes Bob and No.......I just kept asking him why he wanted me to do things and in the end he got frustrated and hung up, but he had my name address and phone number which is slightly worrying, Asian dialectess if I had gone the distance he would have sprung a bill on me
- ttI was contacted by Online PC Master today 2 May 2011. They said they had received an error message from my computer and that this shows that my PC has a virus calle bluebot virus. He gave me a different phone number 020 33180604 to call him back to. (Not the one mentioned here)
Just to verify this call I contacted my internet provider thinking that if they are a legit company they would have heard of them. My provider (a major UK one) had not ever heard of them and said that they do not have anything to do with this company.

I'v been tricked into the SCAM, another phone call today, from this Aisian guy working for PC Masters, they are now saying somone is trying to hack into my computer and I must turn my computer on Now! and they need to down load 3 types of softwear, I asked if this is going to cost ££, he said I need to renew my contract for £191.00 I said" forget that", "I want to cancel the online technical support" but this is going to cost me £96 and they want to uninstall the softwear. - Heather replies to Luton Trading StandardsDear Trading Standards in Luton (ref MAU 097764)
What will it take to stop these folk? I have had several calls from them (from 0203 318 0604 in my case) but fortunately I know enough not to let them take over my computer. Now I just I tell them I have a Mac & they hang up. They almost snared my elderly mum, but thankfully she said she needed to talk to me first.
Thank you.
PS I have also emailed you as requested. - John Fletcher replies to Luton Trading StandardsOnline PC Masters called me today say that they had information from my computer that indicated there were problems with my applications. I asked their name and googled it got more results for scam than enough, so I asked him to confirm his postcode and that matched 'PC Masters' in Luton, Beds.
I told him I belived he was operating a scam and that he should never call again. - lindahad the same call from an indian man saying I had problems with my computer, the call flagged as International - I don't usually answer international calls but have heard from many friends that someone wants to fix their computer called PC Masters. It was a hoot kept him talking for ages, gave me their phone no 0208 8144 5602 and they did actually answer the phone when I rang the number. |Told me they were in Luton, gave me a registration number 0699 6061. only when I asked for their email address did they hang up. Worryingly he knew my name - the phone number is not registered in my name! Why do they continue to be able to operate? I would prefer to tell them in two words where to go but figure it winds them up more to keep them talking, costs them not me so that's what we should do.

- jangpt a call from a foreign man saying a problem with my computer had been reported to microsoft and then gabbled on (i couldn't understand him very well and wasn't really listening) I guessed it was a scam so told him it wasn't convenient for me to deal with it at the moment and I'd call him back. Silence! He gave his name as Kevin and took a long time with the number but eventually gave that and the name of the company online pc master.
I am not very computer literate and these calls must be stopped as I wasn't sure whether it was genuine or not as I have had a problem with my computer.- Caller: online pc master

- annie22nd July 2011 I recieved a phonecall saying that my computer was at risk.
I kept him talking for 35minutes but gave no information. I said I was doing all the things on my computer that they said, when in fact sitting in the armchair and I said that my computer went blank each time I typed in their www.ammyy.com. I was then given another address to fill in, said it all went blank again.(while sitting in the armchair nowhere near the computer). Went through 3 people Indian/Asian bad line and not always clear. They kept reading from the same script, ie error report, same as many others on the blog. Asked if Microsoft paid them? was then told that I would make a one off payment, £79.00 and be protected for ever and ever, and could I give details of my card. Said I didn't have any cards, then asked for my address so they could collect, I asked if he was coming from Luton to collect, he said they had an office in Brighton, I asked for the address so that I could take it along, They said after checking with the 'boss' no card no collecting any money,so the call ended. They did have my correct name and address, thats worrying, - anniere the message I've just posted, I tried to report it to the Luton Trading Standards, but went round in circles so not sure if it is reported or not, but I do hope so.
- Dave replies to Luton Trading StandardsThey originally claimed to provide LIFELONG antiviral and other technical support for up to 5 machines for£160! (I reckon something of a bargain, if only ........?), which when I said I couldn't afford it, was whittled down eventually to one payment of £80 for one only, and the balance to follow ..... when convinced?
Anyone the company has a legit? UK website where its offers can be vetted at
www.onlinepcmasters.com
The rest I leave to you ......
