I received a phone call from this phone number on 18/08/11 from an Indian speaking man who said that he was from BT and windows had reported a virus (his accent was hard to understand).  He then put me onto another man named Adam who was quite convincing and as I thought he was from BT stupidly went along with it.  Gave him access to show us the concerns.  He then brought up a notepad and typed my name and address and charges of £79.   At this point I realised it was a scam and said no thank you.  I have changed all passwords for security.  Someone needs to put a stop to this.  Feel really stupid I was taken in.

Microsoft would never pass your details to a 3rd party, and never call you directly either, any calls from anybody claiming to be helping you to fix your computer are most likely to result in theft of ID information and your savings. Just put the phone down on them, and ensure this message is repeated to friends, familly and anybody you care about.

My caller was Justin Brown, I had touble understanding him because of his Indian accent, but it
was the same story as the many others have had before me. He was from Windows Technical Support
and he informed me that my computer has been sending out a number of Critical Error Messages, he
wanted to show me how these errors could be fixed. He denied it was a scam and gave me 020 8144 5602 as a call back number. He was convincing and very insistent.

    Ignore them and hang up.

Same again here. Claiming to be from "windows technical support".  I kept him waiting 15 minutes while I pretended my PC was booting up, then asked for a number to call him back as I pretended my internet had just gone down.

Considering other ways to waste their time on the next call :)

I had a call today (not for the first time) from a man with an Asian accent saying he was from Windows Technical Department of PC Masters, giving a company regestration number of 06996061. He said that 47% of the applications on my computer which he said was registered to my address, (which he quoted) were not working. He asked me to type in the address line on Internet Explorer www.ammyy.com. I then terminaterd the conversation. My registration with the Telephone Preference Service does not seem to protect me from these calls.

I received a call this morning from an Asian guy claiming to call on behalf of Microsoft and said his name was Adam Matthews.  He said that I had virus on my PC and was asking for my permission to access my computer remotely to alert me to how many viruses that I have.  I asked several times was this genuine and he was quite convincing that it was.  He gave me a web address that I needed to type in so he could obtain the access, however,  I started to have reservations when he told me that he would have remote access, but I could stop at anytime.  I immediately thought that this wasn't right so asked the man to call me back.  I then looked online and realised that this was a scam, I have since ignored any calls from 02081445602.

It seems that these people have become active again.  Similar story to those above - my elderly Mother In Law was called called by this number (02081445602) last week (August 2011).  A man with a foreign accent (Asian??) claiming that he had information showing that she had problems with her Windows on her PC and that her machine was sending out error messages. My Mum In Law was immediately suspicious as her computer hadn't been on for weeks and wasn't on at the time of the call.  The caller was very insistent that there was a serious problem but she was unmoved; after some time she was able to get the above phone number of them and said she would call them back.  She never did!

These people have called several times over the past 2 years and cannot seem to realise we have become quite wise to them. However, on this occasion my wife was able to obtain a number which I called when I came home from work. The Asian "gentleman" denied all knowledge and I informed him I was going to tell the police to report them. The police in turn said this was not in their domain and gave me the BT Freephone number, after explaining I was told this was not in their category and referred me to another BT Line but warning me that because it was after 5 p.m. there would not be any answer until after 9 a.m.. Again, I encountered no help whatsoever being told "It is not a BT line and cannot help, suggesting I go on line typing in the number I had been given and join in a forum"

I find the lack of action and impotence from the authorities who are suppsed to stamp this sort of stuff out particularly galling. It seems to me that this company having been at it for more than 2 years are raking in a lot of money and nobody is doing anything about it. How many older people with computers who have been conned by this beggars belief and the lack of action against these scammers beggars it even more.  - Disgusted of Burnley

Just had the exact same call as detailed above by most folks. Probably about the fifth time, although I do go along with them and show concern, and respect them for calling.
Points that I picked up, and may have been missed above

Based in Luton above the shopping centre. Strangely their number is 0208 1449602, which ain't Luton!
They told me they got my phone number from my '"network" provider, when I asked who that was he told me that he couldn't tell me due to Data Protection.
We run at least 4 computers in this household, yet he couldn't tell me which one we were specifically talking about
A previous caller told me the problem causer was my router
My caller was Craig, and he was a senior supervisor, the reason he rang was that the previous callers had not succeeded in 'helping me with my problem' and he was very concerned, and felt responsible that I still had these errors
To be fair to Craig he has been the only one that has told me that i will be asked to register, and pay a small fee.

Said they were Microsoft, reporting  I had a computer problem. Wanted me to go onto the net to resolve it. Obviously a trick. Surprising that Microsoft let them allow this.

Got a call from these guys, actually had issues with my computer. I signed for their service and within an hour got a call from technical support and they helped me fix the issue.
    God bless them.
It's not a scam, the only thing is that they are providing wrong information to market their product.

Mr Steve Martin (with a heavy Indian accent) just called me from Online PC Masters Technical support Luton to tell me that my husband had taken out a contract with them last year, but because he hadn't used the service they would refund the £167.00.
When I told the caller that there is no way that we would have taken out this contract he was insistent and said that he would need to speak to my husband. I was told to get him to phone 02081445602 and to give the company our credit card details so they could refund the money!
They had my husbands date of birth, home address and they knew which bank we deal with. This is the 4th similar call of this type that we have received but normally they are telling us that they can see our computer has a virus. The first time I burst out laughing and they hung up. They are obviously trying a different approach now.

I had same call this evening - heavilyaccented asian lady.  Told me I have virus messages coming from pc.  Kept her talking for ages just to annoy her - which it did.  Wanted me to turn on PC and let her have access to correct fautl.  Thankfully I'm not as gullible as some folk might be!  Told me I was wasting her time, which I was since I know this is a scam.  Microsoft DO NOT call individual phone numbers.  The lady became extremely abusive and I eventually put the phone down after I asked for her number to call her back - she gave me 0208 144 5602 which is of course just an ansaphone!

I had a call from a lady with a very strong accent who said she was calling from the world wide web in Luton.  She said that there had been error messages from our PC (which is true)  There was some blocked software which because we had the original Microsoft PC would make the PC go slower and slower and stop.  It is pretty slow!  She took me onto "run" and showed me on a config many programmes that had been stopped which were evidence of the problem.

She then took me on the internet to a website "TeamViewer" which is some sort of free remote access software.  She asked me to click on "join remote control session" which would have allowed her presumably to take over my PC.  At this point I refused to go any further and said that she was probably genuine but I had no way of knowing and letting her access my PC might let her get to all sorts of confidential info.  I asked her to send an e-mail explaining her company.  I said that I wanted to check this out on the web before going any further.  She gave me her number and name and said to call back when I was happy but I might find it difficult to get through.  I would get  a validation e-mail after they had done the work to sort the PC out.  Number she gave was 020 8144 5602

Received phone call in July when my laptop was very slow and disconnecting from the internet quite frequently did pay them a lifetime one off payment of £164.95 and they sorted my problem out then.
Received a call yesterday saying I had a serious virus and they need to remotely access my laptop to download some antivirus software as nothing I had installed would fix this virus. Alarm bells started ringing when he started reading my credit card number, expiry date and security numbers to me asking if this was still valid, asked why, was told that I needed to pay for the new software. Said I wasn't paying any more and as I had to go out hung up. On returning I find an email saying thank you for your payment of £164.95 to onlinetechguyz. Have contacted my credit card provider about this. Telephone number I was given is 0281441094. Spoke to an Alex Smitt and John Hardy.

    Dear sir/madame,
Last year I joined your company for a years cover £79.93,on the 27th May2010,then a month later I was railroaded into taking out some other cover  I was told it to be  life time membership cover 30th June 2010,  £144.95 just over a month into my years cover.I should have had the £79.93 paid back to me ,but afer the recent phone call I was made aware that the cover has expired and I have never had life cover so some one from your company have lied and because of that I feel reluctant to have any further dealings with you as I have no trust, after all I didn't join your company to be lied to,but the figures above show that it was a expensive lie to which I feel conned out of my money .In the one years cover I have had nothing but problems due to software been put on my computer causing conflict with other pogrames and my computer running slow, I was always told not to worry and the problem would be fixed ,but it never was, It lead to my computer crashing and couldn't be booted up ,and  left with a big repair bill.
I paid a subscription of £145 pounds to a Alvin Smith(ID 369009 ) 29th july 2011who stated he was with the (On line PC masters), and again was stated that this was a one off payment and have a life time membership that is the reason for my call as I dont know who I'm dealing with and what cover I have I will consider your company as a hoax and forward your number to Google's dodgie phone numbers list for other people  view so they dont make he same costly mistake I did when just obtaining a good anti virus checker is all it needs £30 big difference.
