I had a run in with Mori last year. They kept calling (7 times). I kept telling them politely each time to not call me again as they were harassing me.
When the last caller started an argument with me, I told the B**** to F*** O** directly in those words. Low an behold it worked - though I got threatened with the Police, I never got called again.
I shouldn't have to go through the process of getting my number removed via an email or calling them up - why should I it is an extra workload I can do without and it is not my fault I don't accept cold calls. A simple F*** O** works, the more insulting the better the reaction.

This number keeps calling my 11 year old daughter. Next time they call I'll be waiting and they can explain to me why they are calling a child

I've been getting calls from this cretin company, I phoned 020 7347 3000 and they have said that I will never get a call from them again. It will however take 24hrs.

Anyway some of you may want to try this.

Its a lot of different things I have asked them four times to remove my number and that I am listed with TPS makes no difference they get unpleasant and obstructive. Write to your MP as there are thousands of these numbers ignoring the law because its not being policed they have nothing to lose.
Let the newspapers know anything to gather attention.

They call repeatedly, several times a day, and take no notice of requests not to call again, despite being told that disabled parents are distressed and worried by their calls.

    These are their office numbers: 020 7347 3000:    020 8861 8000;    028 9050 0800;    0131 220 5699;    0161 240 2401;    01502 589 395;    0131 467 6666.

call them, especially if your call plan includes free calls to landlines, and ask them "research" questions!

I tried calling Ipsos head office (on 020 8861 8000) in Harrow to protest about their endless calls, but they appear to not be answering the phone.

Posting the letter below today - I will update you all as to any reply received or progress in the case.

    James

    Ipsos Mori Head Office
    Kings House
    Kymberley Road

    10 April 2007

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    Your Caller ID: 02088618682
    Caller: ipsos Mori

    My number called: 07876 568470
Registered with the Telephone Preference Service

My time is valuable. I have decided to give you a special price of £100 per telephone call directed to my Vodafone mobile 07876 568470. This contract price will apply to calls I answer, as well as to any that I become aware of by use of missed caller, caller ID or last number called services.

Making calls to the above number after receipt of this recorded delivery letter will be deemed to be an acceptance of the contract price.

For the avoidance of doubt, rest assured that we will keep a careful note of each subsequent call from yourselves as to time of day, date, etc, to form an evidence record that will be presented as part of a county court claim against yourselves for the above sum, which we will not hesitate to submit immediately following any failure to settle our invoice for the above.

At that time we will also submit an additional invoice for £100 for:

½ hour of my time spent on this letter.
½ hour of my time spent analysing your misconduct on the internet.

    Yours sincerely

    James B

Loo1558 - yes they were, and they are.

James, with the rather silly recorded delivery letter, why not just say you don't want to take part and ask to be added to the do not contact list - that is the most likely outcome of your letter anyway. But if you'd spent your time more productively you would know that already - and you'd also know that the TPS  *****DOES NOT***** stop you receiving calls from bona-fide market research companies.

Ipsos Mori Employee - if your company had an ounce of decency, they wouldn't be power-dialling millions of numbers, who gain no advantage whatever, to take part in your "surveys" from which you profit.

I have received no less than 44 calls over the past 10 days from your moronic, deceptive and bullying firm. I use the latter words advisedly based on calls I made to your numbers asking you to desist and the attitudes of your staff in response. I recorded those calls and am currently typing up transcripts which will be placed here and also used in court action.

I can assure you that I have an excellent case and am also considering filing a criminal complaint against your company at Harrow police station for harrassment. My lawyers do regard what is going on as harassment, particularly as the calls appear to have intensified since I posted my above letter.

I am also downloading details of the directors home addresses of Ipsos Mori with a view to seeing if we can use reverse-192 and establish their phone numbers. If so, we will publish those here as I feel sure they will appreciate hearing from all of us about our complaints in person.

Sleep well - you will all be hearing a lot more from me.

    James

James - does the letter you have posted above contain your actual mobile number - and if so have you considered that posting it on a site such as this, which is clearly not monitored by anyone and can be accessed by anyone, is a sensible thing to do?

    Good luck!

UK CEO of Ipsos Mori is

    Ben Page
    Ipsos Mori
    77-81 Borough Road
    London
    SE1 1FY

Their office number is 0207 347 3000 - ask for Helen, his PA.

I suggest calling that number and asking to speak to Ben Page each and every time you receive one of Ipsos Mori's many, many calls.

I am currently obtaining home numbers for Ben Page and other senior managers and will post those shortly.

I was not making a threat, why would I want to call you?
I was merely suggesting that it might not be the best idea to post your phone number on a website. Especially as you say you have had more calls since you posted the letter on the site.

I'm also not sure how you figure that the best way to deal with a company who you say is harrassing you is by encouraging people to harrass the families of the executives of that company.

    Don't Call Me
Surely Ipsos Mori managers should not be exempted from silent calls, late night calls and calls using fake international inbound numbers? Surely they would welcome such calls, seeing as they are happy to personally profit from inflicting them on their fellow citizens?

    Go for it James.

    Tired
The anonymity of this site does make it so easy for people to make unfounded allegations.
Familiarise yourself with the Market Research Society code of conduct before you waste money trying to raise a legal action against a company who are not acting illegally.
If you are on TPS, familiarise yourself with what that does and does not cover before you start accusing companies of being in breach of the TPS conditions.

Next time there is some change to local services, government policy etc and you start being angry that they make these changes without consulting the public, remember that you probably hung up on the person who phoned inviting you to express that opinion.

And you all might want to familiarise yourselves with the laws that protect workers from abuse whilst doing their job.

Ignore the guff about Market Research Society codes - they have no legal validity whatever.

There is no reason I can think of in English law why when confronted with an arrogant intrusion into one's personal privacy one should not respond angrily. People working for an abusive company like Ipsos Mori should realise that they are fair game for a vigorous public response to their intrusions. It's not their fault in person, which is why James B is quite right to be publishing MANAGER phone numbers.

I suspect there is a legal case for compensation behind all this as Ipsos Mori are clearly plaguing some people well beyond what is reasonable. I am going to investigate what is possible. It may be that some sort of class action for harrassment may be a possibility, with damages paid to each individual who has suffered such harrassment.

In addition, it is clear from the attitudes of Ipsos Mori staff posting their comments here that the company is itself spreading deliberate falsehoods within and outside the business about the legal basis of their activities.

I am also writing to Ofcom and the Information Commissioner to gain their views on the matter.

I laughed out loud when I read that stuff about wanting protection from abuse. What the f*** are you doing when you ring my phone without my request and when I'm ex-directory and then don't even have the decency to speak to me? A case of the criminal complaining about being badly treated for their crime!

On Vodafone, these calls come through as +102088618682. Maybe they are being sourced abroad to get round BT call barring? And then you have the infernal cheek to talk about codes of practise!

DO NOT ANSWER THESE CALLS. Ipsos Mori MAKE MONEY BY US ANSWERING THEIR CALLS. Refusing their calls means they won't have enough people to complete their percentages for a valid survey result. They make BIG MONEY from clients through OUR FOOLISHNESS in answering their calls. If you do answer, MAKE SURE YOU LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THEM.
