extremely annoyed by the phone calls from 02088618682 i answered the other night to be told it was a market research about the facilities in my local area i told them i was about to go out and it was inconvenient, the man on the phone said would it be alright to phone me some other time and i said no i don't like talking to people/companies whom i don't know!!! but still i come home to find several missed calls getting through to my answerphone but leaving no message

Have only received 3 calls so far but have missed it each time so not much of a problem yet.  It will I'm sure get irritating though.

Have now received three calls from this number on my mobile, am really annoyed as do everything in my power to avoid unsolicited calls.

I got 2 calls from 0208 861 8682 yesterday.

The number belongs to IPSOS/Mori.
I called them and was told (90%) of calls are randomly generated.
No great conspiracy - just a market research company.

You can call 0131 561 4529 and ask for your number to be put on their database as "never contact".

Phoned me this afternoon on my landline claiming to be from a research company. Asked him how they got my number as it's ex-directory. He said the use a random generator that takes the area code and first three digits and randomly selects the last three digits. I asked him to remove my number as I am not interested in taking part in any research and he said he couldn't do that as the computer the use selects numbers at random.

I used to get calls from all sorts of numbers, despite being a TPS member. Then I found a box called "trueCall" which costs about £80. It screens all calls and is very flexible. Highly recommended for people who are bothered by these annoying auto-call machines and companies who choose to ignore your TPS status.

Came home after a hectic day to find 3 new calls on my phone - no messages, from 02088618682. Normally if I don't recognize a number I immediately look it up on t'Internet in case it's a troublesome one (I'm registered with TPS of course), but tired and  cup of tea in hand I thought it might be family as some have 0208 numbers. No - I got a bright breezy annoying voice telling me it was Mori Ipsos and they had called me earlier today. So down went the phone and I came straight to the net to find out. There are so many issues about this, not least is that they could be preventing an important call from coming through. I used to get upset for my elderly parents who would jump to answer the phone, often stumbling, only to learn with tremendous disappointment that it was nobody that really wanted to talk to them, just an invasive busybody who wanted to find things out about their life and interests. they felt obliged to cooperative because it seemed so official. Totally unnecessary and as an earlier message said, pretty much a real 'crime against human rights'. There should be no loophole that allows them to call our numbers when we have specifically filed records with TPS to say we don't want them to call.

If everyone buys the "truecall" box there will be no more complaints on this site and no further annoying phone calls for anyone.

This number keeps calling my mobile, and at all different times of the day.
I do not know who they are, or how they got my number!

This organisation calls unrequested and in the evenings.  I resent being pestered by strangers, and am registered withy the TPS.  Oh, how loovely it would be if there were a way of annoying them the way they annoy me.  Has anyone got any ideas?

Having a non-UK mobile number means that calls from abroad are charged to my telephone bill, which is even more annoying.

I missed their (so far only) call while I was driving in Central Europe a few weeks ago - they might have heard my auto answering text, which is not in English.

When I read all the misery above, I sincerely hope my unintelligible recorded message with lots of unfamiliar consonants and vowels helped ...
