I just called Ipsos MORI on 020 8861 8000 and told the lady that answered the phone that I have been receiving unsolicited calls to my mobile number and I wish for them to stop.

She took down my number and said it will be passed to the people that stop numbers being called but it could take up to 24 hours.  She was very polite and informative.  Also said that if I do get any more then to call them back.

Funny people say this is a random call or market research and that it is not to be taken with any suspicion, however...

My Mother was phoned today on her landline and they asked for me by name, she said I hadn't "lived at this address for over 20 years" (which I haven't) and they said "could you give his telephone number and details".

At which my Mother got very suspicious and asked what it was about - the reply was they were from Argos Store card and needed to speak to me urgently (and were quite persisted by the sound of it).  She told didn't want to continue with the conversation and hung up.

If I did have an Argos Store Card I certainly wouldn't be given them details of an address I hadn't lived at for 20-some years.

how sad for you you to live this way are you always so quick to judge you sound like you are educated,but then maybe i am wrong.ipsos mori has a website(look them up) and they have been trading longer than....lets say your mobile phone provider,they are a legitimate company and provide a service to companies as well as the public ...plz google them,,,,,,(it will save you alot of embarassment in the future)....market research is a way of life for the ,government for well known companies(some that have been trading for up to  a 100 years)some might be small companies or even new companies it might be a government dept that wants to hear you views..look around you tv adverts,newspaper adverts, insurance companies all state...we interviewed  x amount of people in x(place) and this is what they said.....and 8 outa 10 cat preferred it ...this is not made up this is found out by asking ...you? the public and your cats .so please the next time your council does something you dont agree with bear in mind that that someone from ipsos mori was prob. on the phone(or calling door to door) looking for the views of people in the area,please make no mistake the decisions are made based on the publics view...sorry you missed out

Been rang many times by this number, at least 2-3 times a day in the last three. not very happy at all and havent asnwered any, having to change my sim card now so i can change number. also money missing from my credit (put 10 pounds on, having not used it at all, then when i looked after being rang it had gone down to 8.56 not sure if this is linked but god help them if it is...)

Called me today, were very polite. Sending me a survey through the post and am getting a £5 Love2Shop voucher in return for 20 minutes of my time. Seems worth it to me.

Research company doing a quick survey, didn't ask for any details except to check age range, gender etc. Then offered me a 2nd survey through the post where I get £15 vouchers for recording some spending habits over a few weeks.

keeps calling mobile, late at night.  TPS registered and ex-directory and careful not to put number on things to avoid marketing calls.  Really annoying.  But, as we never answer calls from numbers we do not recognise, we have not spoken to anyone.

I keep receiving phone calls on my mobile from 020888618682.  It is a nuisance.  I am glad i looked the  number up on here and saw that others have had the same thing happen and that it is a research company!

I'm not sure there is much point stalking the executives of a reputable research organisation like Ipsos MORI. Yes, we field workers do try to knock your door or phone you up, and yes, some people find that annoying. But lots of people love being asked their opinions: I know, I knock on doors for Ipsos MORI and at least 60-70% of people will let you in for a chat, as long as they know you are trying to improve the quality of decision taking in the public sector, and are not selling anything, and their information is totally confidential. Look at it this way: the questions we ask are often directly relevant to how your taxes are spent: so do you want your tax spent wisely, or just wasted, because some Government department hasnt done their research first?
How else are we supposed to contact random respondents, exactly? We need to speak with everyone impartially to get a genuine cross section of the public, not just people who like doing surveys.

These morons have started re-routing their calls via a 0044 number because your TPS service dont cover calls coming in from overseas.. so you will see their number as 000442088618682.. sneaky so-and-so's.. they just dont get then message WE DONT WANT TO TALK TO YOU!!!

we are getting loads of calls from them!! we have barred all with held numbers but now the have found a way around that to it just come up unavailable!!!!!!! grrrrr
