    liz,
right... people are saying it is o2, some people are sayiung its not.....
and yes i recieved the call today, like many i dodnt answer, but when you thinkg about things o2 dont ring customers, they would send a text, telling you about upgrades, (i think i had a text for them telling me about it) next if you wanted an upgrade you would be able to add them to your phone, and as i get unlimited texts, o2 knows this, they wouldnt need to ring me up offerin anything else. i think we can safely say its not them,

and the people here sayin it is o2, just shut up... coz o2 would have your details they would kno your name ur address, everything, i think its prob the better idea just ignore the number,

    O2 peep
Why would O2 know your details?  its pay and go, you dont have to register any details to the sim.
they ring u to offer u cheaper calls etc, just because u have unlimited texts that doesnt mean you dont need anything else cheaper if u can get it.

yes fine im an idiot blah blah blah,

and obviously you didnt read other things either... plus all o2 numbers are stored in the fone, which means IF they rang it would come up. as o2 not a stupid 02202....

besides, if people wanted cheaper calls they would kno where to look to get them, if that was wat they wanted,

and surly o2 wouldnt be badgerin there customers ringing them every day, to hang the phone up,  thats not really giving information, and the people that do actually get people to speak, well why would they need your bank details? well? they wouldnt... but you go feel free to answer the call and hand your details over, then tell the world how wonderful your new service is... coz im sure it would be soo wonderful

02202 is the promotion department for O2
WHY THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE IGNORING IT?
they signed me up to a deal where i get a free phone (£200 Windows Xda) for only £15 a month
    unlimited texts and 100 mins!
they will not need to get you to a store, because stores are only franchises of O2.

    GIVE UP WRITING, 'who's 02202' :'(

    IT'S O2 FOOOOOOOOOLS

It IS from o2, I've commented before and people have been saying to ignore the comments saying it's from o2. I got a phonecall from 4445 which I believe is o2's customer service number, the day after I emailed them asking about the 02202 phone call. The girl said it IS definitely o2, and if I was worried to go into one of their branches and discuss it with the manager, which I did. He said not to worry about it, they don't want to put it online yet because of competition but it is one of o2's promotion numbers. Four days after my first phonecall, I got a text confirming my changed tariffs - I now get 500 free texts to any UK network instead of just to o2 numbers.. ANSWER THE PHONE CALL NEXT TIME PEOPLE!

This makes me laugh far too much, cause it is o2. I also used to work there it's a customer retention team that's all, yes they do have targets to meet. But they are not sales target but "saves" ie if as cut down the customers costs we get a save. If you listen to the agent and take the call you'll save money on prepay phones, simple.
Makes me laugh when people hang up and by doing so they have missed out on the chance to save money.

This number has called me twice now and each time some of my credit has gone. First time aroung £5, second time 20p. This is when I haven't answered the call because I've had my hands full each time they've called. If it is O2, why and where is my money going?

Sounds to me like a scam, and the people saying it's fine are probably part of it. Safer not to answer - if you want to save money on your phone, go into a store / find a number on their site / etc and do it yourself, don't wait for them to call with some Magic Offer that's probably a con (after all, what company wants to give you something free/cheaper that you're currently happy to pay for?)

Bbb, It's called retention ie they are making sure they retain their customers by giving them a good deal, so they don't go else where. Not a magic deal....

I am on a pay as you go phone. Why are they ringing me all the time? I dont have a contract, surely they would just want to speak to people with contracts to keep? I answered a few times and the phone has gone dead? Its annoying me as they ring me twice a day on average.

Also why are people on here so aggressive? Its really pathetic. People come here for help, not abuse. Just because you know a number is legit doesn't mean someone else hasn't heard from what they think is a reliable source that it isn't! Is it really worth being so moronic and nasty about? C'mon people, be a bit friendlier!

I keep getting these calls from 02202, almost on a daily basis.

Ignore them and do not respond to them in anyway.

It's a scam call to illict personal details from you. Additionally, it's an automated system which dials various O2 mobile numbers (that the company has somehow got hold of), if an operator (from the scamming company) is free/available then they will repond to you by asking personal questions. If they are no-one is availble then all you'll get is silence on the other end of the line.

The big question is how are they getting these O2 numbers? .... are O2 themselves selling our mobile numbers on unwittingly to a scam company?

Either way, don't respond in anyway, just put up with the loss of charge in your battery everytime they ring, by ignoring it.
