answering benG's question though, nothing is ever 'free', nobody is updated for 'free' without taking some kind of contract in the first place. So if it truly is offering updates to people who are on contract or payg, it wouldnt be as unprofessional as i found the phonecall to be. I was stuck in a circle of "hello?"
"hello."
"hello." The guy could clearly hear me.
Not to mention the number which you cant even call back, no legitimate company would call from a phone number you cant call back, only if it was withheld, which it wasnt.
This is all just common sense, and "not comfortable to disclose" has a right to express their anger. As for the comments that are being made, do you people defend O2 because you work for them? Or because you know its a scam and trying to persuade people to believe it isnt so they answer and hand over any details they want? Presonal details are PERSONAL details, you dont give them to just anybody without being sure.

even if it is O2, they should be more professional and inform people. I think it is legit, but judging by the review, i'd say it was best avoided if you dont feel comfortable. Human rights and all that :)

i got this phone call saying i was such a loyal customer with them asked me howmuch i topped up a month, if i call or text more, and said if i use 02 suprises.

they also said they would give me 50free texts to say thank you, but they said the sim inst registered and needed some details, so me being stupid and didnt realise till after, i gave them my name, surname, address, date of birth and email.

they said my texts will be added with in 48hrs and should receive a confirmation.

its first time in like 4years ive got this call and curious.

when i checked my contacts the 02 info line is 2202 but if u notice the 0 is missing so im curious if this is a scam or real o2.

I got this same call, having a stressy day gave my details and waiting for some free texts. Just rang O2 customer services and they said it is from them.

I had this number call me, i thought it looked a bit suspicious, i've also been getting lots of weird calls recently, seems my number has some how made its way into some sort of call list *sigh* only about 20 people have my number, none of them are malicious in anyway. If i dont answer and press reject, they just call straight back, if i answer they just hang up, but only after ive said something...

I received 2 calls a day from this number over the last couple of days. Confused by the differing comments i decided to call my phone provider who advised me that it was not them. I won't be answering this call!

Just had this number call me. just typed the number in google and came to this web page. they diint say anything down the phone so i hung up... Random!!

Be on the safe side people and don't give any details away. They don't sound legit to me - and if they are, then 02 needs to invest in a bit of training. I spoke to a complete halfwit who hung up on me when I asked to have my number removed from the calling list. Oh and he said "Im not tryin to sell ya somethin like, it's just an update of ya personal details. Oh and calls will be recorded for monitoring purposes" Needless to say, alarm bells rang!!

I have been recieving calls from this number , i have not answered the call, seems to be same time every day ..

Am on o2 network have had this everyday for the past two weeks it is now driving me mad, you answer the call and get complete silence

had the call today at 12:48, ignored it as i never answer numbers that arent in my phonebook, if my friends are trying to call me from an unknown nunber then they miss call twice then call a third time or text me before hand. like a safe way to contact me, i tried callin o2 but after 20 minutes waiting on the phone i hung up as no one on the other line could be [***] to answer. i googled the "02202" number and it brught me here. so ive sent o2 an email regarding the number and see if they can actually be [***] to reply with a dignified answer. :-)no-ones having my details, even if its just my name.

now over the weekend (before this email) i went into my local o2 store and they said the number isnt linked with o2 at all. so now i am confused. either way im still not gonna answer the number what so ever.

called me a numer of times, today there was actually someone on the other end! say theyre from 02 and appear to have all my details, could hardly speak english so gave up trying after a while!

Just had a call from them, they hung up on me after about 3 seconds but I heard a woman in mid-conversation saying something about someone hanging up on her ha! Ironic. Anyway, Ive had a call from these before but cant remember if Ive answered it or not. Happy days.

Missed one call already today and then just had another.  When I answered there was males voice who said Hello, muffled as if he couldn't hear me properly causing to repeat Hello back, the call then ended.  WOnt be answering again.

Only shows 02202??  Wil report it now to my phone network

02202 rang me early this morning - not happy! I have not rung them back, but I checked my phone and if you look under the numbers which O2 put in there automatically, '2202' is the O2 info hotline...however, it is not '02202'...a connection maybe? Or possibly a fault at O2 HQ?

this number used to ring me alot at 15:21 most days, but it stopped for a long time, and today it happened again, i dont remember if i have ever answered it, but i think i did one time and they just hung up straightaway. after reading all this im not going to answer it ever again.

I got a calll from them this morning but was asleep so didnt answer it...  i then googled the number and was sent to a load of these sites who were warning against it all... i was advised to register here http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/  this will take ur number off of any marketing lists. i'm also going to ring O2 in a moment as i have been a customer for over 6 years and never had this problem... i hope this helps
