Had a missed call today (10th October 2008) and yesterday, and after reading these comments i'm glad i didn't answer!

hI Guys could that b that someone is using this phonecall as a Phishing tool 2 upload private data like 'card space' as i know there was a caals 2 my friends that r usin windows mobile on smartphones?As anyway call is just a data flow,by injecting the wright code u can get an access to mobile device through GSM networks,i hope i;m wrong!

Got the call yesterday and today, misscalled it, phone on quiet. Luckly my phone's japanese and has a "block caller" mode as well as refusing all data transfers off ANYTHING! I guess I was well prepared for it...

And if I ever did answer I'd just pretend I was a shopkeeper from africa selling lions XD They would soon leave me alone XD

I dont know where you lot get u infomation from or whether you have made these call's up. 02202 IS INFACT A GENUINE 02 CALL I recieved the call on my unregistered o2 sim card yesterday, the man on the end of the phone registered my details with o2 and made an offer to simplify my base tariff which they done they also revealed information about my upgrade entitlement which only I or o2 can access. I recieved a text from o2 shortly afterwoulds confirming my base tariff would change as requested.

i gota call from 02202 at 3.28pm this afternoon, ive read everyones comments and blogs so i was quite savvy enuff not to answer it...ive passed on txt messages to all my contacts. id rather lose money that way than have some scammersteal from me.....ok the way iv hopefully sorted it is by storing the number in your fone as anonymous.....and if you have a "block number" bit in your fne just block that numnber and they wont b able to get thru to you......i no everyone doesnt have that facility on their fone but hopefullysome mite get some peace from these calls

First time i got a call from this number today i answered & said "Hello" a few times & got nothing so then i hung up the phone.

This number has called me everyday at 2.15pm for the past month, but i'm in school so i can't answer. I picked up on friday when i was free, but she just kept saying "hello" when i was talking. I hung up and tried to call back later but this number has not been recognised. I'm O2 network, and i have ordered a new phone, so i thought they were calling about that, but i don't know.

i have had six missed calls from them and mainly i was at school and have not answered any of them. The number 2202 is info hotline but i think this is some kinda skam.

I've just started to get these calls. Got the first one yesterday, and then they tried to ring again today.

I hope that it stops, I dont want them ringing every day from now on.

IF it is O2, then they shouldn't indulge in this sort of thing - it's not reputable.

Well just reading this post I have received a few calls within last 2 weeks from this number, but all of them I have missed. Asked a friend at work they said looks like business number. Winding me up too lol!

DON'T ANSWER

I have answered a ohnocall from 02202 just few minutes ago. The lady new my surname and said she is calling from o2. She offered me more minutes, new phone etc for just £20 a month. Sounded a bit suspicious. I told her that I am not confident that she is calling from o2. She than said that she is going to send a text message to my phone so that i can see that she is really calling from o2. Sent me a message from 02-Alert. Then she said that she will need to have my first name and dob. I gave her my first name and then said hold on a minute are you going to ask me for my bank details as well? And she said - all you need to give me is your account number and sort code (year right). So i am sayoing to her that i am not giving away these details over the phone. She then said that she will transfer me to her manager who can confirm (yeah!) so i hang up.

It is awful that something like that happens! Good i didn't give more details. If they were really from o2 they would know these details anyway......

i called o2 to find out if it was someone from o2 calling and they confirmed that  it is their sales team so they transferred me to them to give me the minutes offered by a lady previously hmm wierd it is o2 then.....

just had a call from this number typed the number in and its the 02202, im on o2 and i answered and was silent. the line was completly silent for 2 mins untill i hung up.14:26 they rang on 25th oct. by luks of this its gona b start of many. no1 know who it is yet?

Just got a call there now but didnt answer cos im at work. If it rings again, any point me answering?

10:48am Monday to Friday I get a call from this number, which for obvious reasons I don't answer. Looking at everyone's comments on here I gather that

a) O2 makes sales calls from this number
b) A company is scamming people by pretending to call from this number, when they are not in fact O2.
c) People who have defended this number on this forum are more than likely to be involved in the scam, ignore their comments.

As people have been stating that they are asked to confirm their full name as read out by the person on the other end of the phone, it is likely this scam already has obtained personal data in some form. NEVER answer anything from this number. If it is still in use by O2's customer sales team then they need to change it. I, personally, am moving networks. Goodbye, O2!

They are B.S. don't answer them, or try to call them back.
