- Mike GWell they are persistent (but very stupid) - usual strong foreign accent telling me he is called something that sounds English (Charles Harold James etc) - crap about bank charges so I asked how on earth he knew what my bank charges were - said he was calling on behalf of the UK High Court! Laughed at him and told him he needed to change his script and f*** off - needless to say the phone line went dead.
Not sure how anyone can fall for this but I suppose everyone wants to think everyone else is honest, mix that with a bit of greed/stupidity and there you go..........................
(I was once called by someone saying "Hello sir, my name is Huge" - So I asked him to repeat it with the same result, I then asked him to spell it, and of course he spelled it H - U - G - H ! LOL) - mfCalled to tell me something about bank charges in an Indian accent which was too strong for me to understand. They hung up as soon as I asked them what name the account was under. And they didn't block their number.
Amateur prats, if you want my details you really need to put more effort in!! - jay c| 2 repliesjust had the call from 02256800256. indian bloke who said there was money owed to me. he wanted my credit card no. not sure how he knew the first 4 digits. refused to give the rest of the no. and after about 15mins listening to the same story from him including how the call was recorded. i asked for his company name and address which he gave me eventually as Uk department of finance. 38-40 Leslie st, Eastbourne. BN22 8JB.
i said if there was money owed to me then send me conformation of this in writing as they already have my address which was given to me at the start of the call.
Scam!
I'm on the telephone preference service but seem to be getting more and more of these fake calls.
Its a sad world we live in when there are so many who want to con us out what little we have.- Caller: UK Department of Finance
- HercHad several of the very same calls today, as the previous threads, calling from my bank and that I was due a refund of charges, despite the fact I've already claimed all my ppi's back, knew my details and which bank I was with.
Smelt a scam straight away. Best thing to do is Hang Up.- Caller: 1st call claims
- Tommy TStill going with the same scam, Indian femail called this morning offering to refund charges. As soon as I said I wasn't interrested in her scam the line went dead. As we all know where the calls come from (02256800256) can't they be blocked?
- Chubsey| 1 replyWe were called 24th feb early evening and the address they used was 10 years old. I wouldn't give him my bank details and he said my account would be frozen. He then became what I would describe as extremely abusive and in a very sexual nature. I passed the call to my husband but that did not deter him. They obviously know they cannot be traced. The next 6 calls we let go straight to answer machine and he said nothing.
- Caller: First call
- mikiejust had a call from this number - let it go to answerphone. was left a rather garbled message with lots of background noise. after getting the number via 1471 I checked this site only to find out its yet another scamline...like the majority of people on here I refuse to give my personal and/or banking details out over the phone.
- Caller: probably one of the above
- brunnercalled twice today by 02256800256 but no one answered and it then cut off, beware of this scam if it gets through.

- ck| 1 replyMy mother got a call from this number a few days ago, an Indian-sounding man supposedly representing her bank. He quoted her name as in the phone book, and the first few numbers of her bank card. She didn't give any bank details, then reported the call to the police and her bank. But she was quite upset and stressed by this experience.
IF YOU GET A CALL FROM 02256800256
DON'T EVER GIVE ANY INFORMATION - especially bank account details, date of birth, address or any other personal information.
REPORT THE CALL IMMEDIATELY - to your bank and the local police.
CONSIDER GOING EX-DIRECTORY - your family, friends and business contacts know your phone number already, scammers don't need to have their life made easier by finding you in the phone book.
SAVE THE PHONE NUMBER IN YOUR PHONE DIRECTORY CALLING THE ENTRY "SCAM" - if they phone again, you will know when the phone rings - don't answer calls from this number.- Caller: Bank
- Call type: Prank
- pickThis 'company' rings almost everyday asking for someone who has never lived here. I finally had enough brain power to ask them who they are before telling them they had the wrong number and I was told it wasnt a company just something to do with finance. The foriegn man then carried on talking eventually shouting until i hung up.
This is not the only 'company' asking for the same person so I would think the information they have is getting passed around quite a lot. - beethe number 02256800256 is a scam.yes they do ask for your date of birth and say you are due a refund.i contacted police 4 months ago and now they are starting to phone again.told them the call was being recorded they then put the phone down
- JenRecieved a call from this no. Uk finance I said Can you tell me which company you are working for repeated it .they then rang off/
Pity nothing can be done about them.wonder if many people have been swindled. Think its a waste of time to report to trading standards.Would they or could they do anything about them.
They have rung more than once.- Caller: uk finance

- Caller: some Finance co
- Coco H| 1 replyGuy with heavy Indian accent called wanting to refund bank charges, either by cheque or directly into my bank account...apart from the fact you could hardly understand a word he was saying, wanted bank details etc. Hung up on him.
