Well done this is exactly what I do, just totally waste their time without giving any private information,it is like a game to me in which I see how long I can keep them on without laughing. These calls soon deminish when these morons suddenly work out that you are winding them up, but next time like you I will always make a cup of tea during the pitch.
    NICE ONE.

I had a call yesteday at 9.0am from an asian woman, same story as other people. I told her I'd read about this scam and goodbye. If I get another call which people seem to get I'll be ready and string her/him along to waste their phone call.

Got a call from this number about ten minutes ago and clearly someone with an Asian accent said he was from Windows and they had detected unwanted data on my computer.
I gave him some advice on how to shovel fog.
Had a call from the same number 18/11/11 and only speech was Hello, hello hello.

This is a serious scam, Best thing is to say nothing or say you do not have a PC. Do not give them any details. They are scamming off broadband deals. If you think you have a problem use Trend Microsystems or AVG. Both are available free.

The number they call from is a front as well

Same thing here... Asked be to go to event management on my computer and said all the warnings and areas indicated a high number of impressions and illegal activity in my area.  I told him I didn't have time for this.  He said he was from Windows Service Centre and gave me the correct address but couldn't give me company number registered with companies house.  The number 025 is not a UK prefix.  Don't dial it, it might cost you a lot of money.  It is a scam. Do not give him any information.

Just got one of these calls saying he was from Microsoft & my computer has malware. Wanted me to put on my computer so he could fix it!

Sorry I had to go out.  Suspicious this was a scam.  Very heavy foreign accent.

This is most certainly a scam.  These people try to get remote access to your computer.  They will them install spyware/malware.  Any money they ask for seems to  be a diversion to hide what they are really doing.  Neither Microsoft, nor its partners will ever ring you.  It would be a breach of their privacy rules.  All this was eplained on "You've been Scammed", BBC1, 21st November last.

Got this number calling me this morning, have saved it on my handset as 'don't answer'. I have been steadily doing this for a while now with all cold calls, so when caller display comes up, I know to ignore it!
    • Caller: Don't know, didn't answer
