Just had a call from this number. Initially silent then an automated voice said "goodbye"

They juts tried this on me and said they were from Microsoft. Asked me to Press the Windows Key and thew R key at the3 same time and then tell him what It said. I refused and when I asked for detials they told me to get lost. They are obvioulsy trying to acces my passwords. I now have whistle and will blow when thye call again.

Just had a call. Always have outgoing message on (to hear who it is before picking up the receiver): no message left.  Coincidentally (or not) I'm my computer has recently been erratic after my son helpfully downloaded some "care" program -I've since deleted it but the performance hasn't improved.

Keep getting calls from this number

These so -called callers (led to believe from scamming Microsoft) called today did not leave a message as my TRUE CALL machine stopped them dead in their tracks.

REMEMBER - Microsoft NEVER repeat NEVER call you - on registration YOU do not supply any telephone numbers!

If by previous calls they are not a genuine company as they DO NOT supply a name that can be tracked PLUS having worked at the Home Office you can ask them - if you let them - for their company's registration number at companies house London - if genuine you can check - else tell them you are not interested and not to call back else you will be taking them to court for £50K for annoying you if they presist!

Telephone companies do nothing they are just happy to take the money for any calls, Telephone preference (TPS) are a waste of time as well as the Police who do nothing as well!

Okay not a cheap machine is the TRUE CALL but has reduced calls from three to seven a day to practically nothing - one every week now. It allows you to decide who to accept (see their web-site for demostration) and then can be blocked - ONLY TRUE genuine calls get through.

As above you can pay to stop these calls but NOTHING much gets done until this unit was brought into action

Got a call from this number again tonight, been hanging up on them for about 2 weeks or more now.  Said my PC had a serious problem, wanted me to switch it on and give them details, hung up again.

I have several ways of dealing with this:
1) Answer saying 'Good morning (or whenever), Microsoft Corporation'.  This gets them somewhat confused.  Of course, you need caller ID display to be able to do this, but BT's 'privacy at home' or similar is usually free, and most modern phones can display the ID if the system sends it.
2) Let them go through the spiel and then say you run Linux and hang up.
3) Say you're an IT consultant and, although they've munged the caller ID (prefix 025 doesn't yet exist in the UK), you know where they really are and will contact the police.  They cut off immediately.

What really annoys me is I haven't been able to find a phone that you can program to ring differently when known nuisance numbers call - so you need to drop what you are doing and go to the phone to see its display first.

we just got a call from this number and missed it, tried to ring it back and the number isnt recognised

Rang up trying to speak to my wife. Asked for her by her email nickname first. I kept him on, trying to get him to provide details and back up what he was saying with hard facts. "You say her PC was attacked by malware - precisely at what time and by what specific program?" And so on. After a few minutes of getting him more and more flustered, I eventually told him, "Sorry, I think you're talking bull***t" and abruptly rang off.

I got a call from this number but did not answer it - I think it originates from Djibouti?

now doing it in liverpool dodgy [***] and they say scousers are dodgy lol my comp works fine as i told them

About my computer downloading

Just had a call from this number but nobody spoke and I didn't ring them back and we are in Leicestershire clearly a scam

Just been called by this number at 4:52am!!!! Went to pick it up thinking it was an emergency to find number had dialled off. I did 1471 to find this number. Absolutely furious, not only did it wake me up but also my upstairs neighbours. I'm making the assumption it's a call centre but I don't know.

Called me twice in 10mins.
Started saying to me about a viruss had been leaked onto my pc and they have scanned it and started telling me to press start/ run - then i hanged up
Rang me back saying sorry for the call being dropped. I HANGED UP NOT DROPPED CALL.

i had the same thing the other day claiming they were from microsoft that my computer was sending them harmfull emails . they wanted me to rectify it by me putting codes into my computer . i declined  and i was told later that it was a scam that if i had put that code into my computer they would have been able to take over remote access.

i was called yesterday from this number - there was no answer then a computer said bye then it went off . and today this happened too. we are registered with the telephone prefference agency . too and they still keep on coming thick and fast .

my advice is when these people call you tell them that your with the telephone prefference agency and ask them to remove your details straight away .  half of them dont need to be asked if you tell them your with the tps

yep thats the one that called me he got really mad when i said i didnt know if he was genuine he even gave me his number and extention number i reported it to the ico and they took it further . they gave me a crime reference number .

yep they called me today and yesterday its just an empty call then an answerphone says bye . the number comes up on my telephone but when i try and ring them back there is no such number

thats definateley not on thats illegal
