We got a call and I am a certified it geek. All I got was heavy breathing! I am with talk talk is anyone else, if there's a pattern it may lead us to how these scanners got our numbers.

I had a call today at 13.04 I wasn't in, on reading all these comments I am pleased I wasn't

Husband just had a phone call from an asian man called Peter who said he was from Microsoft and he knew he had a problem with windows and it would infect his programs. He asked him to go onto his computer and he would help him sort it. Our son was shouting in the background so he said that he couldnt get to the pc as our son was crying.  'peter' got really pushy saying he had to go to the pc as he was trying to help him.  He hung up when we asked for a contact number for Microsoft to call him back on!! I'm from Cornwall . The caller id said 02538020308.

Oxford area.  He asked for my name and I asked him who he was. Said his name was James and his company was Eco Burotic (that's what it sounded like).  He was talking about supplying printers ink more cheaply.  I told him that I rarely printed anything so didn't need any, and that I am on the list of people who do not like to be cold-called.  He said sorry and that he would make sure that I was not called again.

I am with Talk Talk too.  But then, many people are.

Had call at 1.30pm did'nt answer call.  Rang 1471 and this number had called. I live in the West Midlands.

Just received FOUR calls in quick succession from this number - did not answer.  Like loos55 I too am located in the West Midlands.   I am also with TalkTalk.

I have had incessant calls from these people and it is driving me insane.  I answered only once and they went on about my computer, but I said I did not have one.  I have at least 6 calls a day!  How can I stop this?  By the way I am with Sky Talk.

Just had the same call - asian woman who knew my name.  I asked her if she realised what time it was (10pm) and she apologised and hung up.  I'm with Talk Talk.

I can't beleive anyone would be stupid enough even to try this, let alone get caught out by it, called me today and I couldn't stop laughing, knew it was a scam right away.

Asian guy who spoke faster than anyone I know,I  thought it was a recording in fast forward at first, couldn't make out what he called the company or even half of what he said, sounded as if he was reading it off a script.

I told him I couldn't see why anyone could still be trying this scam and when I laughed he hung up.
I wish he had stayed on longer, i could have kept him busy for hours and it's their phone bill, right.

Seems they've caught onto the caller display thing and now it presents a number but I don't care any more, bring it on, I am happy to talk to them and keep their bill going up with no results.

Anyone who thinks they have a virus, check your PC yourself with good anti-virus software, if the software is up to date and finds nothing I also recommend doing an online scan, there are one or two free online virus scanners about, just do a search online, you may have to download a small piece of software to do so but always check what you are going to use before dowloading anything.

I keep my virus software up to date, also use a couple of programs for spyware and malware, about ionce a month I run an online virus scan, in seven years I have had one virus which was dealt with right away and I am always on the internet surfing and open over 100 emails per day, so they must be doing their job.

02538020308 called to tell me I have a load of computer viruses,as i use Evidence Eliminator/AVG/A2squared/Spyware Blaster/Hijack this and Spybot I can confirm I dont,told him to F**k off.
I advise you do the same

02538020308 just done a search of international phone codes,The 0253 area code is from Djibouti Africa,enough said.I hate scammers.!

Received call, refused to give any details as he would not give his number so could call back. He became quite aggressive, talking quickly. He tried to explain he was trying to help. I hung up.

He called back without withholding number and said we had been cut off- I explained I had hung up. He stated he was trying to help however I said that I was not prepared to give him any information unless he gave me his number so I could call him back. He hung up.

Tried to call back but the number is not recognised

I answered by saying 'hello' and it cut off.  Number is unknown or unobtainable when I returned the call.

Asian woman who hung up when I said " Is this a sales call?"

recieved call this morning from this number .it was someone trying to scam me via the internet.be aware

I picked up the phone and heard the merry go round tune after 5 seconds a woman with a foreign accent picked up and said we were from the same microsoft approved computer maintenance company. There was a lot of Saurus? virus around and that my computer might be at risk.

She wanted access to the computer. When I told her that I used Linux she hung up.

My 73 year old Mother got this call just now from an As, luckily I live across the road as she was quite concerned... told her to turn her computer on and he could get remote access and sort out a virus problem... she may be 73 but quite cute and did 1471, wrote it down and came over to me...  He got quite irritated with her as she was telling him the man next door is a computer expert and he deals with any problems.  She immediately turned off her computer as she was worried that she had a virus... IF I COULD GET DOWN THE PHONE AND SLAP HIS FACE I WOULD.... Stupid Bas*&rd, scaring my Mother... I hope they ring here... BEXLEY, KENT...
