- marchI've just received a message on my answerphone. Garbled message about their Mum having tests. As my sister was admitted to hospital yesterday thought it might have been about her. My husband said it sounds like a spam so checked on the web. Turned out it is!
- CherylJust received a call - first time I have received as text message on my landline. Some garbled message about someone dying soon. Freaked me out but dialled 1471 and got this number. Googled it and found it is a scam. Slight relief, but strange as never give out my landline number.

- MikeGetting several calls a day from this number :(

- Malcolm| 2 repliesI got an automated message on my BT Landline from 0795 3966066.
When I phoned it back an automated voice read a text message to me from one of my friends.
It seems that they had sent a text message to my Landline instead of my mobile.
So this number is not a scam or hoax. It is a genuine text to Landline service!- Caller: BT

- DaveMy new BT call guardian phone just came into its own. As above no messages.
so there now BLOCKED permanently. Scam or no scam from whom ever. merry xmas... - Chris replies to Malcolm| 1 replyBlock or don't block, it's up to you, but as noted above, this is not a scam. It is a genuine "text to landline" service. I just had a message from a friend who accidentally texted my land line instead of the mobile. I'm done the same thing myself on a number of occasions.
Blanks "texts" are often "my phone texted you by accident whilst in my pocket" mishaps. - Jeeves replies to ChrisUnfortunately, your excellent explanation of this number will fall on deaf ears. There is another number on this web site used by BT to provide this service and the posts have almost reached 3000. Probably about 2000 of those posts explain the reason for the calls and how to opt out from receiving them. Sadly, the other 1000 consists of people who cannot be bothered to check previous posts before they start whinging and screaming "scam". News Years Day is the best for the shouting and screaming when peoples' drunken friends/relatives have texted their New Year's messages to landlines. If it wasn't so stupid it would be amusing.
- missmuddlesHas called me twice this morning 7.15am and 7.20am saying someone sent a txt message which was 'mum', didn't call it back but would have if my daughter wasn't in. Definitely getting rid of my land line, far too many calls from companies, market research and now this. Disgraceful!!
- Caller: I don't know
- Daisy LorneRang my house phone 5 times at 10 min intervals, never picked up, first call came 1 min after another unknown mobile number rang my house phone with an 07885 prefix which was originally an O2 number but could now be on any network.
- NAJust got called now (nearly 3am on New Year's Day!). Didn't get to the phone in time to answer it, but dialled 1471 and it identified it as 07953 966 066. I won't be calling it back. But nobody wants a phone call at 3am, as you fear the worst! Lloyd it's hard to sleep if you think it might call again!
- Caller: Unlnown
- Ally| 1 replyThis is a genuine text to landline service. I received a call with a text about a course I'm booked onto as my daft friend keeps texting my landline instead of my mobile. The message gives you the mobile number that the text came from and this is how I know it is genuine.
If you've received a call and don't know the mobile number that the original text message came from, then it's possible that someone has done it by accident.
It's up to you whether you bother to call and retrieve the text message, but this is not a scam.
THIS IS A GENUINE SERVICE!- Call type: Text message
- BridgetGot a call late last night on my landline, it said sorry its so late but.... Then I couldn't understand the rest so I sent a text from my mobile asking who they were and didn't get a reply
- WilliamWith regard to these sites that offer Reverse Look Up for telephone numbers, does anyone actually find out who called? It seems to me people just post their experience of the number (such as receiving multiple calls from them - either blatant selling or a con) but nowhere on any of these sites does it ever answer the question, WHO CALLED ME. It is good to know you are not alone In receiving these "PEST" calls but can anything be done to stop them? Is there a government department monitoring it? The worst call is from the Indian sounding bloke who wants to solve ALL computer problems, even for elderly folk who do not own one, provided you give your credit card details. Apart from being able to share our concerns on here, does anything actually get done to stop the scams?
- William replies to anonTo anyone receiving calls from this number, using a landline, call free 08005875252 and press option 1. Listen to all the options until they say press 5. This will stop all text messages (or should I say garbled rubbish!?) to your landline. You need to listen carefully because the message goes on and on about times that you are willing to receive these messages but wait for option 5 and press it because it will stop then. Hope this helps.
- William replies to katie| 2 repliesCall 08005875252 from the landline you are receiving calls on and press option 1 (twice I think) then wait for option 5 and that will stop it.
- William replies to AllyYou can call 08005875252 and press option 1 twice and then wait for option 5. This will stop the text to landline "service" that no one can hear properly and save a lot of money if you have been calling back hoping to hear a clear message.
- William replies to TerryRing 0800 587 5252 and press option 1 and wait until option 5 - press this and all calls from the text to landline "service" will stop. It is such rubbish anyway, no one can understand a word and they just want to make money from you when you call the mobile number from your landline. So best to cancel it by using the free number
- William replies to AnonymHi Pissed Off! Know how you feel but call 0800 587 5252 plough through all the options until you get to Option 5 which cancels the "service". It does work, just that it takes time to get to Option 5, involves pressing 1 twice.I expect they want folk to keep calling so they can make money from the landline to mobile calls
- maffibNot a scam, someone has text your land line (probably by accident) and this number calls you, informs you of the number that texted and then "speaks the text to you" as typed, which is why they dont always make sense.
- DebsI had this no call me on my land-line 9 times this afternoon, very annoying and its now blocked via the 0800 option explained below
