Annonymous text message left on BT answer machine.Checked my phone book and did recognise the number

This number called again to-day 07953966066, I just ignore it but elderly people may get upset with this number asking them to phone as they may think someone was trying to get in touch with them and when they phone it they may get a garbled message which could upset them, Im thinking of getting the 'Choose to Refuse' option on my number but its going to cost me money to do that so till I decide Im going to ignore it.

had 2 calls from them in the space of an hour now dont know who or what they are it just says that i shud phone the number back my advice to everyone is dont!!!! i think its a scam !!!!!!!!!!!

I received a call on my landline phone, it then went into a recorded message which i hung up straightaway. I'm a X directory number but i'm still getting nuisance calls like these

I've found out that this number is a BT text message when someone calls you & wants to send a message like a text on your mobile.
It's not a scam just another means of communication thats all

Had a "please call 07953966066, from this phone" message.
I thought about it & used my lo-cost dialler to do it, then had 2 options & I thought SCAM & hung up.

PLEASE READ THIS...

Someone you know (or who has your landline number) has sent a SMS text message to your landline (either intentionally or not).

BT stores these text messages and converts them to voice messages (hence the robotic voice) - even if you are not a BT customer.

BT then calls you from its "Fixedtext" service on 08456 021 111 until you answer the phone (or you call that number back) and listen to the message.

If you want to opt out of receiving all of these "voice" text calls on your landline (including from 07953 966066 and anybody else), then phone BT on 0800 587 5252 from your landline, select option 1 then option 5. This will permanently cancel this feature.

How do I pick up messages?
It depends on whether you receive text or voice messages
and if you have an answering machine or voicemail.
• If you receive text messages they will be sent to your
text-compatible phone for you to pick up and save if
you want to
• If you receive spoken text messages and have an
answering machine or voicemail service, then the
Voice Text will be recorded as a normal message
• Or, you can just dial the Text Store on 0845 602 1111
or 07953 966 066 from the phone that received the
message and follow the instructions.
• Text messages are only saved for 24 hours from the time
the text was sent.

landline number? Voice Text automatically converts your
text message to a synthesised voice before calling the
number and reading the message to whoever answers.
If the call isn’t answered then the message will go to
voicemail or an answering machine, or get delivered later.

• The destination number doesn’t have a compatible
texting phone
• The destination number hasn’t registered for the service
• The destination number hasn’t activated the Number
Display feature
If the system cannot deliver your message then your
message will be left at the Text Store for 24 hours.

i didn't know who itwas so i phoned
i researched the phone number on google and found out it was a scam
but how did they know may number i am under 16
so how did theyknow my name

Received a call at 10.20am today and a message was left on my ansaphone. Thought I would check this website as I often do.I read Henry's entry and did that.It seems to be the thing to do.Hope it works!!!

I am looking in to this number ( 07953966066 ) on behalf of a work friend who recives alot of problem calls this being one of them, basically asking her out on a date, but she doesn't know it is I have also reported this to T-mobile as a couple of forums have said it is from t-mobile, it wouldn't be so bad if she didn't get problem calls alot from different numbers, and that the same number has been reported all over the net.

Had yet another message left on 1571 this afternoon at 14:25 from 07953966066 telling me that "if you want these calls to stop ring 07953966066". This is a form of blackmail so igore it.  I have a blacklist of numbers I won't answer, and this is at number 1!

My mum & dad got a call from this number on their landline saying "Just thought I would let you know my dad has passed away" They were worried etc.. as they couldnt work out who it was.

I had a 1571 message today. The message was "...please phone 07953 966 066. That number again is 07953 966 066."

I Googled the phone number and came to this web page. I followed Jay's advice above and phoned BT's TextStore on 0845 602 1111 but it said I have no messages.

Had call from this number today, but was at the loo so i missed it. diled 1471 as you do phoned it back and it was some kind of message service?? No idea what it was all about!

Got back from school run to find 1571 message. message gives the number 07953 966066 & then says 'from this phone, i repeat 07953 966066'.   Totally baffled me so i ignored it & then happened to mention it to my brother who said to enter it into google. Am amazed there are so many weird messages from the same number. Whats going on with this thing? Any suggestions on how to deal with in the future?
