08000285085
Report a phone call from 08000285085 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Evil DamienI rang the operator to ask them about this number (29th January 2009)
0800 028 5085 is NOT listed as BT, and the message is WRONG for BT as well.
From a BT phone dial 100 or 150 or customer services ask them yourselves.
Oh and not just this number but others - its 1 to accept a reverse charge call 2 to deny it - if i was a rogue company - and just wanted a few quid id set up a "if you are the authorised ...." sound familiar?
How that works:
you change the original message "this is a reverse charge call from XYZ if you accept the charge please press 1 if you do not please press 2"
Change that to "if you are the authorised ... press 1"
>:)
Maybe im not so evil, maybe im just well informed ;) - PaulCalled BT yesterday to request my MAC code to move broadband to another provider. I wasn't interested in the offer they made to retain my business so got given the code over the phone. Today I have received 6 calls from this number, so suspect it is BT trying to get me to stay with them.
- PaulBTW when I called the number back a recorded message stated that BT had tried to call me, and if they still need to speak to me they will try again.
Great another week of nuisance calls where they either leave no message or hangup when you do answer! - dodgerHad a call from this number, never answered it and looked on google and found this site
- AnnI received a peculiar mumbling answerphone message from some unintellible woman. I could not tell if she was foreign or just a bad mumbler. 1471 revealed 08000285085. I searched in Google and found this website with loads of other people having same incoming calls.
A couple of days ago, I was reading my online bill and used the query a call facility for some of the numbers that I did not recognise and neither could google, Three totally daft e-mails came back from BT stating that I had made a call on xx/xx/xx date at such and such a time but they could not tell me who the phone belonged to! All in all a rather pointless non-service. one of them has credited my account with £1 although I was not making a complaint.
Whilst writing this I went for a look in new e-mails and found an e-mail from the person who rang me in response to my e-mail, which stated:
I am fully aware of when and for how long the call lasted, also that it was to greater London. What I wanted to know is who owns this number as I do not recognise it
Please advise who I called.
She has written back to say she tried to call me...... Just as well I did not pick up the phone as the accent was completely unintelligible. - UntitledI had this number phone me while i wasnt on the phone to BT ordering my new phone line. Definitely connected to BT in some way, although maybe not them. Who knows.
- UntitledSorry that should say was not wasnt
- Be very suspiciousThey called again today, probably the 100th time this month, except this time when i answered i got to speak to a person, his accent was strange, almost robotic,he is probably Indian and in a call centre, who knows?
Anyway, they asked for my partner by name,i said they were not in and the person said
"this is BT,its a matter of urgency, pass this message on"
Now apart from the fact that we owe nothing to BT,and apart from the fact that other than line rental we have no BT services, not even calling facilities as we have used a different supplier for a long while, there is no matter of emergency, if these guys are BT,which i suspect they are not then they have clearly employed a bunch of glue sniffing lunatics who speak like robots!
I told the person to speak to me,as i could deal with any "matters of emergency" to which he asked for my address,i replied quite politely, well you have my address,if you are from bt then you can see my address on the screen,im not willing to discuss my personal detail;s over the phone to a stranger, after all you phoned me,you could be anyone!"
At which point this person said, thats fine and hung up. Very suspicious, now obviously if this is BT then they know which address a phone is connected to,so there would be no need to ask these details,, and if the matter was of "genuine emergency" they would no doubt wish to sort the matter out quickly,my advice is to tell them to write to you. - SpankyBeen getting multiple calls per day from this number all week. Finally answered it today, and it was BT (outsourced call centre?)regarding my outstanding bill. Oops lol.
The caller was an Indian guy. Bit of a bad line, but we managed to understand each other pretty well for the most part.
He knew my name and knew my debt ammount, and is also sending me a payment card (without me having to tell him my address). so I presume this number is legit.- Caller: BT (Agent of ? )
- HarrovianJust had a call from this number and it was about a complaint letter I had sent to BT. They didn't want any "personal information" or money ! However, I do not doubt (some) of the posts on here for this number. It is clear this number is BT. What is clear is that this number is a BT call centre (or even multiple call centres, across multiple countries) which deal with sales, complaints, billing issues etc.
All I can add is the following: If you are asked for personal information, from any number, CALL THEM BACK on a number YOU know (e.g. from your bill, rear of credit card etc). Don't call them back on the caller ID number (unless this agree's with your "known safe" number).- Caller: BT - multiple divisions
- geoffusJust been called on this number and the nice robot lady told me to press 1 for an important update. Needless to say I put the phone down.
- Joni register a fault with BT yesterday and they called me on this number
- davei got a call from this number at 5.30pm today & i didnt pick it up because i am getting so many calls from dodgy numbers & what i have checked on this site.
i dont answer my phone unless i know the number these days as simple as that. - LuciferIt is BT. I understand it is a number used by several departments (including Billing) when they are using automated dialing equipment. Get you own back! Lodge a complaint with the BT National Nuisance Call Bureau (national.ncb@bt.com). I am hard of hearing so you can imagine how distressing any sort of silent call can be.
- Caller: BT
- ShaunIt is BT checking to see if fault fixed or if an order you placed for a new line was OK. Also they do sell things but these are from the UK team
- Caller: BT
- stevBT account holder needs to call back - probably as the BT bill has not been paid by the account holder - no doubt she will ask me to again!
- Caller: BT
- Sarah5 calls from this number tonight, only to be asked for someone i've never heard of and each time the caller tells me i'll be taken of the list....so why so many calls?
- James AllisonI tried calling my mobile from one of my phones where I work at BT and it came up with this number.
Don't worry. it's not a malicious call. It's not BT trying to sell you something. It's BT's caller ID number just to let you know that we're calling you. It's used across the board from Faults, to Services, to Sales. So if you get a call from it, it could be for a number of reasons.
Always answer it just incase.- Caller: British Telecom - Any Department
- Old Mother RileyIn case of what, James??
That someone at BT might be talking sense? - Anubis| 1 replyWho ever is making this call list are in fact INVADING PRIVICY! This is proof that the data protection act of 1984/1998 has been hung and beaten till every ounce of protection has been bleed from it's wishful corpse. If the one to whom it may concern is reading these posts then would you please look in the mirror and get some dignity in that corporate spam filled thing you call a soul, stop been a total annoying prat and rejoin your place amoung the human race.
