I had a call from this number and it SAYS its bt when you call back... but I'll wait and see. Got no problems with anything, so the only reason they'd call me is to sell me something (despite being on the TPS).

I did email BT customer services to inform them of my TPS status and NOT to call me back unless it was to do with the services I already take from BT... But I fear that is as useful as a chocolate fire guard...

Sorry Harry , but I'm not part of a scam just a normal mum and grandmother of six and having called the number myself I've found it is BT.
If you have discovered its a debt collecting agency then all I can say is that either your possibly not putting in the exact same number or the debt collecting agency is coming through this particular BT number (asking a BT operator to connect them to your line) in order to disguise themselves and  make sure that the phone is picked up by the relivent household.

Had this number ring me this morning. I contacted BT re the above number and whether they are trying to contact me or is telesales from BT.  They have said that the above number is a scam.

this is BT calling you about your account usually the sales department I was called today regarding a new service i requested so nothing to worry about at all its only BT.

This number has rung 3 times in 3 days. 1st time left a message. Second time 2 people spoke to me & tried to convince me they were from BT. I spoke to BT who said there was nothing on record to show request for disconnection. We now have something on our file with BT to say no disconnection under any circumstance. 3rd time they rang I picked up & got silence then heard it put down the other end.

I just got a call myself (two in a row) and they left me a message. Saying that they are BT and that there was some problem with my debit card transaction and that they need to take my details again. I had literally just gotten off the phone with BT, after they already confirmed my payment, then these people called me. This is DODGY!!

Please dont believe this guys.

They are conning you into giving them your card details.

DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR DETAILS!!!

I owe BT money at the moment, yes it's them, I'm late paying my bill, most of the big companies do this now, don't wory about it.

I just recieved a call from this number.  I sounded like a call centre.  I just said hello and then they cut me off!

Claimed to be from BT saying my direct debit details needed verifying.  I don't have a direct debit with BT, never have, never will. They couldn't provide me with any proof of who they were nor even a single character from my BT account number, nor the amount of my last bill.  When I pressed them further for who they were they hung up.

This is clearly a scam, using fake caller ID to make the call appear to be genuine.

This number hangs up when you answer! and calls every day!!!!
When you dial the number back there is a recoreded message saying it is a call from BRITISH TELECOM!!!!! who say they will keep ringing if you please!

Called claiming to be from BT and doing a quick survey. Asked if BT provided our internet (wouldn't they already know that?) if we had any mobile phones and who provided our switchboard at which point my saying "I don't know" to each question was causing great irritation at the other end. After I refused to go and look to see what was written on the switchboard they said "never mind" and hung up.

Don't worry I called back and just won £50, all I had to do was give them my bank details and credit card no with security code.

It is not BT, as I'm not with BT I'm with Virgin Media so why would BT ring me about faults, payments and stuff?? This is a scam! When i said i was Virgin media the caller hung up!!!

had 2 calls today from this number today but ignored them as i dont take 0800 calls on my mobile,so googled the number and was looking on here when i got an email from bt telling me they have tried to phone me. so must be bt and not a scam.

i had a call from this number, and a voice mail saying it was BT and my bill was overdue, strange, i thought as i pay my bill by direct debit, so i rang BT and they said that it was not true and nobody had tried to contact me. This number has options to pay the bill if you call back, i would suggest not, its very suspicious, try and contacting BT and talking to someone.

Never bothered by this number untill I called BT today.
Now I get 12 calls in as many minutes

This is a BT Number. They have phoned me on it to check the progress of a fault I have reported with them. Nothing to worry about!!!

I have had several calls from this number and i am gettin so worried now after reading all the messages on this page left by other concerned BT customers, Why wont they do something about this. They are calling my home line everyday and hooking off once I answer! I will start avoiding the calls from now on, but only after searching on google did I find out the problem. I have raised this with BT - with no joy!!! I will be monitoring my phone bill from now on after reading this page.
