IT IS BT, confirmed by BT.  I just rang customer services and they confirmed it is their Sales and Marketing Team.  They put me through to another department who assured me the calls will stop.

I don't care if it is BT or not. I'm not a customer of theirs, I am ex-directory and TPS registered so they should not be calling, full stop !

had a day of scam calls mainly due today from this one . you ask what problem . I am disabled and ill waiting a call from the doctor . who was unable to reach me due to the line block by these calls . I ended up with fall trying to get to phone before the scamer gave up only to find it was another call from this number .

Just had this Nbr call claiming to be BT and an automated message press 1 for ... etc.
Given the rogue use of this number I'll assume it's not BT as I assume a real person would call.

It is an overall telephone number for British Telecom. I was expecting a call from the Corporate  Account Handling Service in regards to work that's been done at my place of work. Their number should've been 0800 001 001, but 08000 285 085 appeared. But they did leave a message on my answerphone, I rang back and they explained that they have a blanket number for all BT calls. Hope this sheds some light for people in regards to this number.

In regards to the scroll down answers on call type below, it was none of them as I was expecting the call!

this number is calling me approximately 6 times a day.  If I answer, there is no one there, so I hang up.  Sick of them calling!

The number 08000285085 is in fact British Telecom.

I reported a fault with my broadband and they ran some tests the evening before confirming there was a network fault hence the very low internet speed. I was told the call centre will call me to update me of the progress.

However, those claiming that they have been asked to provide financial details , even if you an outstanding bill, If you are unsure simply do not give such information over the phone. If the caller is genuine they will ask you to pay the bill via the online service instead.

its bt  service number  usually from costumer service use this number if you have a visit from a engineer .. there is nothing to worry about ...

First call just silence.
Following silence then caller claimed to be BT asking for account details promptly terminated the call.
Contacted BT on line and requested if there was any recent activity on my account and the reply was not!
Just as I had thought it appeared to be spam.

answered phone to automated message claiming to be BT saying that the bill was overdue then went on to ask me to follow the steps and pay using the automated system with a credit or debit card
Just hung up - but it keeps calling every few days

Has to be a scam as our account is paid up to date - BT even have us on a deal where we pay in advance for the services we are going to use

I received 2 of these today, it is from BT enquireis about opinions on their service, as the 2nd time the machine spoke to me, so annoying but I did elect to give feedback to them so can't moan when they do ask for it.

I am receiving phone calls from this number at work claiming to be BT they leave no account details or information about which phone number there call is relating to. I contact BT and they confirmed that all our accounts are up to date and referred me to their web page Security warning - Fraud activities - Fraudulent call centres impersonating BT.

   Be suspicious of unsolicited calls relating to a security/system problem, even if they claim to represent a respected company
   If a caller claims to be from BT, ask them to provide their employee identification number and an 0800 number that you can get back to them on. You can then call BT on 0800 800 150 to confirm the call is genuine
   Ask security questions about your account before continuing the call, if the caller can’t answer, they are NOT legitimate
   Never provide personal information, such as credit card or bank details, to an unsolicited caller
   Don’t agree to sign up for anything and under no circumstances allow the caller to take control of your computer system as this allows them to gain access to your personal files and harvest information
   Do not go to a website, type anything into a computer, install software or follow any other instruction from someone who calls out of the blue
   If you use a public or shared computer, be security conscious. Remember, each time you exit your account you should sign out completely by clicking the Sign Out link at the top of the page so that anyone using the account after you won't be able to access your account

Calls made in the morning for no more than four rings. Have never answered. Not had time to get to the Phone.
Calls started around Christmas.

Received a call from this number today but, did not answer as I generally don't answer calls from unrecognisable numbers. If it is BT or someone masquerading as BT they will have no joy with me as I am not a BT customer in any way or form.

I have had several calls and texts from this number to. They say I have reported a fault on the line, after me repeating the question over and over again they said they are from BT. I am not with BT!
