Report a phone call from 08000852652 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- RobThis number is calling me up to twice a day at the moment and when I answer it just hangs up. I phoned Barclays Fraud department and they claim the number is under investigation and it could take years to stop it happening.
I'm not convinced that is the truth as Barclays have admitted to others the number is from their marketing department.
0800052652 Barclays Scam - Driving me insane! - KarenWho is this company? Sometimes they hang up, or just dont speak!

- MartinI lodged a complaint with Barclays customer relations team (on 0800 282 390) about this yesterday. They answered quickly and were very attentive to what I had to say.
I explained that I have never had a Barclays account, and that my phone number has been registered with the TPS for over two years. They were understanding and apologetic but unable to do anything - the lady I spoke to said that my number most likely incorrectly appears on one of their customer's records. Unfortunately unless I could provide the customer's surname and postcode (which clearly I can't do) then there was 'nothing she could do'.
At this point I had to ask politely but firmly what their complaints escalation procedure was, at which point she took my details and issued me a complaint reference of '1007F765'. She promised that I will receive a written acknowledgement in the next five working days.
I am happy to follow the internal escalation route at present, and I would encourage others still experiencing this matter to call Barclays on 0800 282 390 and cross-refer to my complaint. I have also emailed them with a link to this webpage.
If Barclays are unable to help with their internal complaints processes, then I think there are many options open for further escalation via either Ofcom or the Financial Ombudsman.- Caller: Barclays
- PeterWe have had a succession of calls from this number over the last few days including one at 6 o'clock in the morning, which suggests that it is not UK based. There was no response from the other side except for a few distant office voices. This is a cold call in breach of the Telephone Preferences Regulations and should be regarded as "nuisance".
- Colinhad a call at 1840 today, hung up as soon as I answered.
- CatherineHad a call from this number today, from Barclays. The questions go as follows:
"Hello, am I speaking to Catherine ******* ?"
"This is **** from Barclays ringing to check everything is ok with your a/c"
"Can you confirm your date of birth for me please?"
AT THIS POINT I THINK OH NOOOO IS THIS COSHA, IT CAN'T BE
But I give my date of birth.
"Can you confirm the last two letters of your mothers maiden name please?"
I GIVE THEM, BUT TERRIFIED OF WHAT IM DOING KNOWING IT CAN'T BE RIGHT.
The guy on the end of the phone then proceeds to tell me everything about my account, when I opened it, how many accounts I have with them, how much in each account. Asks me if I would like to delete any of my savings accounts. Goes through all my expired standing orders with me offering to close them down.
It was a 24 minute phone call.
The last 15 minutes of it was him trying (unsuccessfully) to flog me house insurance.
It is cosha. But it's dreadful in my opinion. Look down this list and decide for yourself, look how many people actually worried about this call and whether it was for real.
Even spookier - he suggested closing down a couple of old savings accounts of my which had had 23p left in them unattended for years, he transferred the odd pence to my current account. Straight after this call I logged into online banking and sure enough he had done it. Isn't that a strange thing that Barclays staff can and will have immediate access to your account and can do this? Even the cold calling, isn't that bad?
It's a shame because I've been so happy with Barclays. If this happens too often I won't be staying with them.- Caller: Barclays Bank
- Tracy JenkinsCaller siad was from Barclays in Sunderland personal account services. Asked for DOB and last 2 letters of my password. Refused to give them as thought may be scam and asked what detail of my account he could give me. Was given last 4 digits of account number and any 2 of sort code. Was still suspicious so ended conversation.

- Dave SHad a missed call from this number yesterday on our BT landline. I added this number to the TPS a year ago and do not expect unsolicited calls from any business.
- JACHad a call from this number today. A man claimed to be from Barclays and wanted my DOB to ensure he was talking to the correct person. I said that I do not provide personal details on unsolicited calls and that was the end of the conversation. I have been a Barclays customer for more than 25 years and I have never had a call from them before. In this era where THEY keep reminding US to be careful with our personal details, it is astounding that they would encourage their customers to provide such information during an unsolicited call.
- MickI have received a few calls from this number recently and all have been silent. Fortunately I work for the network provider for Barclays so was able to check if its one of their services. I can confirm that the 0800 is a Barclays service (BarclayCall).
- annonymous| 1 replyRepeatedly had calls from this number (as per my last post) so I went to barclays web site and put in a complaint (detailing the phone number). To my surprise Barclays said they would contact me with 5 days with a reply. That they did and said they were investigating. Today I received 2 unexpected packages by courier. Opened them and they are 2 Hampers with a note: "Please accept this gift as a token of apology for the problems you have experienced. Very best wishes, Maureen Walsh Customer Relations Manager", on a Barclays gift tag. Need I say more... I just hope more people complain and they may stop this harrassment.

- LULUthis effing number keep calling me, after reading all the comments that it is barclays Bank, i have an account with them. How can i stop this harassment??
- mr angry08000852652 called and hung up who is it ????????????????
- PeterThis number left a message today and then called this evening. Asked the same questions as above, DOB, last two digits of mother's maiden name. They got very annoyed when I said I was uncomfortable with giving further information over the phone. The message saying its Barclays Bank when you dial the number supplied via 1471 could be anyone - its just a recorded announcement. The only way Barclays is going to put everyone's mind at rest on this forum is to put a message on their official website. Anything else could be fraudulent, even people leaving messages on this forum saying they have confirmed with Barclays that its legitimate. I suggest everyone treats this as fraudulent and considers moving their account on the basis that, even if its genuine, its an appalling way to do business.
- Caller: Barclays???
- LINDA MOORECall went to answer phone and they hung up
