JUST REMEMBER, Barclays will only ask for part of you details, for example first two letters of your mothers maiden name. Never give full details over the phone.

Hi Just had a call from 0800 0852652 claiming to be from Barclay's updating me on the app, then asked for the month and year I was born, told her no way, I had just watched an advert from Barclay's a few days ago claiming they wouldn't ever ask me for my personal info. Told her that i was going to put the phone down and when I had she rang me back. wanted to prove to me that she really was from Barclay's. I did start to wain but that advert just kept popping up in the back of my mind. I said no and eventually she sighed and gave in, said if I ever needed any help with the app then to call Barclay's. I then rang Barclay's to double check and they said that they would never do that - but they weren't even interested in this call either. I suppose it costs too much to investigate and is cheaper to pay out

I had a cold call to an ex directory number 16/02/2016 purporting to be from Barclays Bank, when asked for my DOB the caller then made an excuse to say they were unable to check this due to a fault on their system. Alarm Bells!!!! My husband checked the number here and then with a Barclays On Line Chat representative who confirmed that it was a genuine Barclays number and advised as follows Please call the Customer Service Team on 0345 7345345 who will be able to assist. As I didn't initiate the call I have no reason to call them.

Strange as it seems I am replying to my own post to provide an update -
I have contacted my Bank direct and now they are saying that they have attempted to call 08000852652 and it goes dead. Maybe we have stopped a scam however it seems strange that when I went on line chat with Barclays they said exactly the opposite see original post. I have kept a transcript of the Chat History and will provide that to the Fraud Investigators if required. Stay Safe folks.

Called me at least four times various times of day and night, silences or no voicemail. Cannot identify them and lots of negative reports therefore blocked!

Got a call from them today.  Didn't answer as I don't answer numbers I don't know, just as well after reading all this.  Number now blocked.

Rung on my mobile hung up as soon as i answered , i get these calls all day long at home dont need them on my mobile

This number rang me today, saying it was from Barclays and had exciting new features to announce for the mobile app, but it just needs some details first.  I said if you need to tell me of features then you can email me.  He also reassured me saying I can google the number and that he can give me details from my account to put me at ease.  This concerns me.  Has anyone ever followed up this offer, as I want to know whether they do actually know stuff.

i was called from this number as well. they wanted to let me know about the mobile banking new features. I did not provide them with anything as that sounded dodgy! Barclay's should not call you with this.

This is not Barclays, it's someone pretending to be Barclays. They ask the wrong security questions, definitely a scammer.

The same thing happened to me. I didn't give them any information but they seemed to know the details from my account, which is a bit worrying. I checked with Barclay's and found out that it's a fake number. I am getting my card replaced.

Had 3 calls from them saying they're from Barclays and telling me about updates and changes to the online app. Didn't trust them and said I am not interested.
Called customer services and they confirmed they didn't call me and they wouldn't do to ask such things.
It is a SCAM, block them.

Hi just to say i rang barclays through mobile app they said it's not one of their numbers and nothing to do with them

Called me on my mobile. General sales-script lead up to telling me about services. But, then asked for two characters from my Mother's maiden name in order to identify me as the account holder. I hung up immediately. Security questions are only necessary when it is me calling them, not the other way around.

Was just called n they hung up when I answered.
It's not barclays. I've checked by ringing them though the number on their app. Wouldn't even ring it back as it may charge you and that's why they hang up to get you to call them. Just my thoughts on it.

Had a call from this number. Asked for some details. They said calling from barclays. Called barclays up and they said it's a genuine number it's the pro active team and it's nothing to worry about.

I had them ring me today and say exactly the same as above. But they rang me on my work mobile which is impossible as my bank do not have my work number details. When i asked how they got this number she would not share with me, just kept saying she can give me details of my account number and sort code. How do people like this sleep at night knowing they go to work everyday to rip innocent people off. SCAM STAY AWAY PEOPLE..!!!

Just received a call to my mobile from this number (Chinese/Thai lady with accent; wanted to confirm they are talking to the correct person; which I responded yes... then mentioned they were from Barclays with a great offer that I should not miss out on.  Said they need to ask me security questions - to which I said "no won't".  Mentioned that she would only be asking month and year of birth.  Responded NO. and call immediately dropped out.  **Phising**  ??  Very odd for a professional company link Barclays.......
