- BeckyCalled today and hung up as soon as I answered. I rang back it said it was barclays and the automatic voice said they had tried to ring earlier-sounds dodgy how would they know that? I would steer well clear.
- Caller: Barclays-appparently
- kevin norman replies to Josephexactly the same with me.
- JSI think this is Barclays - They ask for your DOB and 1st & last letter of mothers maiden name for security but if you're in doubt you can get them to confirm the last 6 numbers of your debit card. If they can't do this - you're best hanging up. They then go on to explain new services and features - i.e. just a marketing call!
- Caller: Barclays
- Call type: Telemarketer
- markthey want to add an app to my internet banking , there scammers
- LauraHad a call claiming they were from Barclays, then asked me for my bank details. Obviously s scam - number blocked.
- Caller: Scam
- DavinaI was called by this number from a man claiming to be from Barclays on 13/01/16. He knew my name and started to ask 'security' questions so I hung up and went straight to a nearby branch of Barclays to check it out. They said they don't call from 0800 numbers and that there is nothing wrong with my accounts and they hadn't been trying to contact me!
- Caller: Claimed to be Barclays
- CharlotteSomeone claiming to be from Barclays. Number now blocked on our phone as we do not bank with Barclays.
- Caller: Barclays
- MouseI received a call (call centre, non-uk accent) from 08000852652 purporting to be from "Barclays Premier", - he claimed to be following up an email (which was incorrect) and started to ask for my details - No Way!!!
It's true 08000852652 IS a Barclays number (I looked up Barclays Premier and phoned them) BUT remember a scammer can make the number appearing on your phone any number they choose so spoofing a "real" number is an obvious and easy thing for a scammer to do.
Don't be fooled by internet links either!
NEVER give any sensitive information to a cold-caller.- Caller: Barclays Premier Spoof?
- Call type: Telemarketer
- SteveI was called yesterday from the number, a woman saying she was from Barclays to tell me about a new feature of the mobile app. She then wanted to check my details - asking for my birthday or numbers from my account. I refused and she said she was unable to tell me this 'new exciting news'. I pointed out that if this was to tell me me some new benefits, she didn't need my personal info. She still refused to tell me, and said I should go to my local branch to get the news. She hung up abruptly. I checked the number on the Barclays website and it said it was a genuine Barclays number. I rang Barclays and explained what had happened. The chap there said it was a genuine Barclays number and said he would ring it to see what was happening. He did ring the number but just got an answerphone - which he said shouldn't happen. He recommended that if I get another call from them that I should NOT give them any information.
- Caller: Barclays???
- DirkI got a call from a women with an indian accent saying it was Barclays and they wanted to let me know about a new feature with the banking app. I asked what the feature was and they said I'd have to go through a security check so I said I wasn't interested and hung up. Not sure if it was barclays or not but I'm pretty sure I have a don't call me on my account and if you are going through a feature on an app why would there need to be a security check? Seems dodgy to me.
- Caller: Barclays?
- RebeccaThis number continually calls me but each time I answer they hang up. Finally managed to speak to someone and they are apparently from barclays. Spoke to my local branch and they said the number was nothing to do with them. Most probably a scam so beware.
- LucasIt's a whole year they keep calling me, i managed to talk to someone just once, other times they hang up as soon as i picked the call up. I don't think that's barclays e neighter does barclays (my branch at least). Take care, give no details, if barclays wants something from you, you'll know soon enough without dodgy calls in the middle of the night.
- Leigh HindhaughJust received a phone call from my bank regarding this number. It is NOT Barclays. It's some dodgy fake barlcays call centre in the Philippines. They make It sound all official but DO NOT give them any details. Barclays confirmed that this is NOT a phone number they use and suggested to block the number ASAP.
- Caller: Fake Barclays
- Mr No Kidding100% scam in my opinion. Just had a call "some improvements in Barclays app recently, want to shar them but can I take your DOB 1st?" I hung up immediately.
They called back straight away, I didn't pick up. Lady on the phone has the spiel she rattled off. Estimate that their HQ is in the Philippines.
Don't give any details.- Caller: Pretending to be Barclays
- RaeBCalled by 08000852652 claiming to be Barclays to do an account review. Felt dodgy so gave a false DOB yet they continued to speak to me, Barclays would NEVER do that. Be careful who you give personal info to.
- Caller: 'Barclays'
- SteCalled today saying they had a free offer from Barclays. I asked for the last 4 digits of my card. They quoted incorrcet detail. They then asked for my DOB I did not give it.Reported to Barclays Fraud dpt

Told Barclays fraud said it was a Barclays number BUT you can changee the caller display that you see to any number. DO NOT GIVE DETAIL OUT EVEN DOB.- Caller: Said it was Barclay off shore in Minila Philipians
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Ama replies to RuckerYou are right. This number called me for the same reason and the guy said he is from Barclays but after confirming from Barclays, they said they would not call any member demanding any personal informations on the phone.
- anonThis is vishing.
The first time I received a call from this number they just hung up, probably checking to see if the number is valid. The second time, they spoke to me claiming that they are Barclays and wanted to talk about their mortgages offering. I very much doubt that this is really Barclays. When you phone this number, it says it is Barclays but no options to be put through.- Caller: Scam - Vishing
- Call type: Prank
- C1*SCAM* *SCAM* *SCAM* - FAKE CALLER ID! - *SCAM* *SCAM* *SCAM*
Also received 2 calls on my landline from this number today. I have never been a Barclays customer, am XD and with TPS. As others have said 08000852652 is a genuine Barclays number used for marketing of their products, which is why the devious scammers have chosen it as their fake Caller ID!
It's a confidence trick! They tell you to hang up and do 1471 to "verify" it's really Barclays, then they call you back trying to extract your personal info to steal from your bank account.- Caller: Vishing SCAM with FALSE Caller ID!
- N. S. GullibleThis number came up when some neolithic cretin tried to call,,,
