- EleonoraI have received a call from this number at 10:50 am today (Saturday). The caller had an american accent and said to be calling from Barclays and needed to provide some information about the Mobile Banking App. She asked for my date of birth and my mother's maiden name saying she they need to confirm they are talking to the right customer. I got suspicious as I have never been asked these details if not to access my telephone banking and said I was busy and to call me later. I called Barclays and explained what happened: they assured me they do not call customers to promote any of the features of the mobile banking app - it is up to the customer if they would like to get some info they need to call the bank. Also, I have given this number and the Barclays team will be investigating. DO NOT PROVIDE YOUR DETAILS!!!!!
- Cazi have just had this number call me and I immediately called Barclays and was informed it is a bogus call and if I receive a call from anyone saying its Barclays to ring them back straight away
- Caller: Barclays - referring to the banking app
- steveJust answered the phone to this number. Barclays apparently. Ask if i would answer security questions to prove who i was. So i asked if she could prove who she said she was. Not comfortable giving bank info to a random number so the conversation ended there
- Dave replies to zara lindaThey have call centres based in Liverpool and Sunderland....
- Pete replies to zara lindaBarclays have a call centre in wavertree, Liverpool. I used to work across the road from them! I also believe they have them in the north east.
- BabsCalled this evening claiming to be Barclays regarding the mobile banking app. Called Barclays directly from my banking app, the lovely lady on the phone told me she wasn't aware that it was one of their numbers and laughed when I told her I'd tell them to bugger off the next time they called again.
- Caller: Fake Barclays
- AliceAmerican/Eastern European Gentleman called me saying he wanted to talk to me about a new feature to the Mobile Banking App for Barclays. He then asked for my DOB to which I said I wasn't comfortable giving that out and what was the actual purpose of his call. He said he could give me 6 digits from my account to prove it was Barclays but didn't actually answer why needed to call me for this. I asked why they wouldn't be sending me an email or a letter to tell me about a new feature (which is generally what usually happens) and he said "we are not going to be sending anything like that out for this fantastic feature" and asked again for my date of birth. Said he was wasting my time and hung up.
He was pretty difficult to understand and tried to confuse me when I on the phone, as such I'm confident that it was 100% bogus- don't fall for giving out personal information!- Caller: "Barclays"
- Chris J CRang from Barclays at only 5:15, so suspicious straight way, then asked for Date of Birth.
- SJust got a call from this number claiming it's Barclays which it looks like is genuine as I checked it on the website. But still, it doesn't seem right to ask about somebody's details and without further explanation caller just hung up saying there's nothing to worry about as it would make me calm. To me, it looks suspicious even if it truly is Barclays.
- MMJust got a call from these guys and they immediately asked for my mother's maiden name. This seemed suspicious so I googled the number and came here, then just said "Nice try" and hung up. Geordie accent. Thanks you guys :)
- AdrianI've just received a call from this number on my mobile and an Indian sounding guy said he was from Barclays (who I bank with) and was it a convenient time to talk? I said can you call back at six pm and he said "oh we're just letting you know that we have updated the phone app", sniggered, then said "have a nice day" and rung off. He didn't ask any security questions but it was very suspicious.
- Caller: Barclays?
- AdrianI've just called Barclays through the phone app and it definitely is Barclays. They use it for courtesy and customer satisfaction calls. It took the guy I spoke to a couple of minutes to find the number as he needed to put it into his system with spaces.
- Caller: Barclays
- Call type: Survey
- Skatty kazCalled and left what I assume is an accidental voicemail that consisted of heavy breathing lol! I work for one of the UK's largest financial institutions and all phones although interlinked may not come up withheld and mine can come up with a 0800 number. This being said if you are not expecting a call I would never give any details back or trying calling number back as there are an awful lot of vishing scams about. Ask for their employee number and an official Barclays no to call back on. Or better still tell them to write to you! And if you have an iPhone just use the block caller function. Job done!
- Caller: 0800 085 2652
- BarclaysI got a call from this number they said they was from Barclays and asked for my date of birth. I was a bit worried after reading the comments on this site so I hung up and called Barclays and they confirmed that I was them that had called to inform me of a new Barclays app service.
- Caller: Barclays
- RGHostingI have just contacted Barclays and gave them the number as I had a call today from the above number it has nothing to do with Barclays at all
- AlannaJust had a call from this number and stated it was about additions to the Barclays service developments or something (she spoke so fast) she began by saying she needed to take some personal details and asked me for my date of birth... at this point i said i was at work and wasnt willing to give my details over the phone. She was ok with this and said if I wanted more information to look at the Barclays website?? Havent done this as yet...
From the posts above, not sure if it's fraudulant but if it is Barclays its a very poor way to go about marketing after all everyone should always be dubious about giving out any personal information.- Caller: Barclays
- Call type: Telemarketer

It's usually your 'personal banker' trying to sell you Barclays products, that's why they are pushy, unless you wanted a call it's easier to ignore them.....- Caller: Barclays
