I got a call from this number they said they was from Barclays and asked for my date of birth. I was a bit worried after reading the comments on this site so I hung up and called Barclays and they confirmed that I was them that had called to inform me of a new Barclays app service.

I have just contacted Barclays and gave them the number as I had a call today from the above number it has nothing to do with Barclays at all

Just had a call from this number and stated it was about additions to the Barclays service developments or something (she spoke so fast)  she began by saying she needed to take some personal details and asked me for my date of birth... at this point i said i was at work and wasnt willing to give my details over the phone.  She was ok with this and said if I wanted more information to look at the Barclays website??  Havent done this as yet...

From the posts above, not sure if it's fraudulant but if it is Barclays its a very poor way to go about marketing after all everyone should always be dubious about giving out any personal information.

Had 3 calls from this number today.. They were all silent and hung up.

Clearly a scam... Said they were from Barclays and wanted to tell me about the new features of their mobile app. They hen asked for my date of birth and the first and last letters of my mothers maiden name. Caller hung up when I refused to provide any information.

It's a genuine number, you can check it on the Barclays fraud service here: http://www.barclays.co.uk/telephone-number-checker.

It's usually your 'personal banker' trying to sell you Barclays products, that's why they are pushy, unless you wanted a call it's easier to ignore them.....

This is why people should be careful, as working for a bank in the past. Some departments numbers can show as the one we are contemplating as. Although, sometimes fraudsters like to give us a go. If a bank is calling you in regards to your account. A: in relation to fraud B: usually if it is something regarding your account it would be sent via post or notified the mobile banking these days.

So add the number to your block list and report it to Barclays.

Just received a call on my mobile number from 0800 085 2652 (18.33). When I answered the call, they hung up

Just spoke to mobile banking and they never call customers to inform them for an update / new features on the app. Caller asked for my DOB to tell me about a new feature. When I told her, you don't need my DOB to tell me about a new app feature she just hung up. Definitely not local caller either. If in doubt, call the bank yourself.

The person said he was calling from barclay bank? ????

Again claiming to be Barclays, knew my name and asked me if I had a mortgage with them, surely they would know that if it was genuine.

People I know have had similar calls where they continue to call back and find out more and more information. Didn't give any details.

Appears to be dodgy.

Somebody rang me and wants to get my personal details and I told him I am sorry I can't give you my account number over the phone. So he didn't explain to me why so he hang off the phone.... Very strange and wearied

I have just phoned Barclays and they had not heard of this number, was then put through to barclaycard (as I also have a cc with them) he confirmed it was a marketing call from Barclays about new products and services that may be of interest - don't stress it's genuine just a pain in the bum!

Did you happen to ask how to opt out of stuff like that.      Previous posts about the questions being asked sound far from encouraging.

Women speaking from.abroad and was quite nervous when I probed her. She alleged it was a call from Barclays but she could not give reason for call. She hung up when I started to ask where she was calling from. It seems like fraud case.

Had a call from this number just now. Advised they were calling regarding updates to the mobile banking app which I have just updated. Asked for my month/ year of birth but not date. Suggested I used the new chat feature with them which is in fact a new facility on the app. Didn't ask any account details and didn't confirm any with me either. Was a bit dubious but seems ok but mixed feelings after reading all this.

So I can definitely verify that, this call if from barclays. Recieved a call from this number but I quickly hanged up once they started asking for my DOB to verify my account info. However I then called barclays straight away and asked them if the number was genuinely a barclays number. The lady on the fone. Was very helpful and verified that it was a genuine barclays number. Ps. Never give ur details out over the fone. If you are unsure call your bank directly n ask them to verify. Hope someone find this helpful

This is a cold call Barclay's machine that calls numbers then allocates them to an operative once answered.  If there is no operative free at the time it seems like your being ignored.
