Report a phone call from 08000191773 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- anonRegistered with TPS over a month ago and still get these calls - albeit intermittently. I get them about once a week now, but have luckily always missed them. God help the ear drum of the person I catch one day....

- GwynHad a call from this number about winning a 7 day free holiday after answering a few questions at Manchester airport 19th Aug 2008.
Sounded good until I checked it out on the internet. Bit of a sly one, will know better next time. Bad Buggers.- Caller: Club La Costa
- SolGot calls as well and it was becoming a nuisance. I called the number +44 1294 225 300 where a lady promised to take my number off their list.

- Darla YasheraMan purporting to be from RBS just said I'd become eligble for 1/2 million quids worth of free insurance!!! I said I was busy... he said he'd phone back tomorrow... probably the same person who rang yesterday and said he was from Barclays...

- GavinJust had this number call me I answered only to receive a message saying Í´had missed their call?? And to call an 0845 number to speak to them... Really annoying as this is my personal number and I am now very p*ssed off! Where do they get it from?? I don´t give this number out??
- Caller: ?
- Cornered citizen #4672871378Predictably, the marketing calls have been coming thick and fast since I gave my number to first direct to set up a 1st account. I've also had a load of silent ones that stay connected and prevent me from calling out for a short while even after I hang up, and they come all through the day/week, even late on Sundays.
I'm making a written complaint to HSBC Bank plc and Ofcom purely for my own peace of mind and, more importantly right now, I'll ring the number in Scotland (01294 225 300) to see if that gets the calls stopped.
It galls me though that I have to pay to not be marketed at, even if it's only a few pennies. The whole system [***] me off to be honest. But, thanks for the information.
Stay free. - L A WTell them that you are herby warning them to issue further communication via writing ONLY and that if they call you again they are breaking the telecommunications act and you will report them to the police.
Also make sure you tell them you record your calls for security purposes - even if your actually not.
But try recording them. This company will make your life hell if you let them.
Do your research and be in control. If your not comfortable doing this tell them what I said above and hang up. If they call you more than 3times in 1 day this is breaking the law.
Do your reserch search "The Consumer action group" on google, you can find all the laws and info put simply on there.
BEWARE, DON'T EVEN CONFIRM YOUR IDENTITY/NAME TO THEM ON THE PHONE.
If its important, they already have your address and will write to you.
Best way to scare callers: Threaten to call the police and let them know your recording the calls. The foreign people are especially scared of this because they are unaware that they were breaking the law and usually stop. - GSHad a call from this number yesterday, saying that they wanted to do some research on my Mobile Phone Contract and would take no more than 30 Secs and didnt want any personal info. I told them I was busy but she said it will only take 30 sec's, and she says it will only take 15 secs, so I said I HAVENT GOT TIME and cut them off.
Then got a call about 2 hours later saying the exact same thing and I said I havent got the time as im busy and have got time to do survey's and to please take me off their list.
Then got another call about 45 mins later so thought "lets see what the foook they want".
Apparently the company they are calling from is ICS Research or similar, and they wanted to do some research on my mobile phone contract and would not ask any personal details.
Anyhow, so he started, which network are you on.....so I replied I dont think I want to tell you as I dont know who you are, then...whats your date of birth, so I ask for what purpose and he said for research, then he asks how I pay my bills, at this point I thought....hmm, quite a bit of personal info going in there, so simply declined to any any questions and asked to be taken off their mailing list.
The bloke then replid, whatever mate, so I said "You What", he yeh whatever....so I says dont ever call me again otherwise I will report you and also advised that I am on the TPS, to which he replied, whatever mate, so I says get off my line you pr1ck and cut him off.
Anyone else had any similar calls?
Who are these people?
Surely if im on the TPS they should NOT call me???- Caller: ICS Research or something like that!
- BobHi there, I used to work in Excell as it was called (now Stellar) and came across this page somehow and would like to explain to people how things work, just to give people an idea why these things happen like people called 5 times a day etc.
Excell is a 3rd party centre and they call on behalf of other places like abbey etc, so we just make the calls for them, abbey, llyods or whoever pass ur details onto excell and they fone for them coz abbey etc dont have enough people at their own centres, so they have to branch out. So the people in excell, please dont blame them, they're just doing their job. Its abbey etc you want to blame for this. They are the ones who send out the dialling lists. Its not like the called sits there with a fone and dials in numbers constantly. When you finish a call you have a number of options on how to end the call. So if someone says they dont want to be called, we would hit 'Do Not Call.' However, due to the system and sometimes lack of dialling lists from abbey etc we have to re-dial numbers regardless of how many times we call. So the system puts those numbers back through which unfortunately means you can get called again even if you have said please dont call. So again, please dont blame the caller, they have no control over this. Ask to speak to a manager, that may resolve it. The system uses an ADS (Automatic Dialling System). So it just constantly dials numbers, and sometimes there arent actually enough people on the phones to take those calls, so thats why when u pick it up theres no one there. All of these issues are out of the actual callers reach, so please please dont blame the caller, speaking from experience we know that its frustraing/annoying for you guys, but its the same for us, we dont want to be out there calling people who have been called 10 times already. So all i would say is if you have any issues please just ask to speak to a manager, they mite be able to do something for you. By just hanging up the fone or being insulting will do nothing at all im afraid.
With regards as to whether or not to take calls from them i would. The offers they have are genuine and usually very good. If ur unsure, again ask to speak to a line manager and when u do explain ur unsure and you'd like to call their direct number. That way you can call in and u have some form of reference.
I hope this is of some help! - GavinTo Bob...
The company is breaking the law... Full stop... Do NOT try and justify the actions the company is taking as its downright wrong, and HOW DARE you tell us not to be angry when we get unsolicited calls on our personal phones these call centres, have you ever stopped to think the situation these people may be in (looking after children, babies sleeping, eldery, etc...)
To everyone else...
I sent this email to the following addresses...
I suggest you all do the same and put an end to it. Mind you, all it will do is maybe mean they have to use a different or even worse, a private number...
*****************************************************************************
Dear Sir / Madam,
I write to you regarding the unwanted and unsolicited calls I have been receiving on my mobile phone from the number 08000191773 which seem to be originating from a company called Stellar.
Due to the nature of my work I do not wish to be bombarded with calls that are unsolicited and take up my phone line when I could be answering very important calls.
I am fully aware that you may receive many emails like this, but after looking at some of the remarks here (where I found more information about this number) https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08000191773 it seems that something should be done about this company that is clearly both unprofessional about the way it deals with calls to the general public, but more importantly, seems to be breaking the law...
Could I please leave this issue with your good selves, and request feedback regarding the actions taken?
I can provide my telephone number if necessary.
I look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Kind regards,
My name!

I sent it to :

- BobGavin calm yourself lol im not justifying the actions of the company one bit, as i said above i was just letting u know wot goes on and why it happens, all i was saying was dont shoot the messenger. We're just doing our job to pay bills, theres not many jobs in irvine so we have to all do something. So dont give me all this 'how dare you malarky.' I'm sure you can appreciate that given the choice none of us would want to work in call centre, but we have mouths to feed. As i said im not supporting what the company does.
To be honest also, about ur email uve sent to the tps, i can understand you sending this and wanting to stop the calls, but the reason that you've received the call in the first place is because you've at some point somewhere and somehow gave your number out to someone and gave them permission to use it. I know ur instant reaction will be that no you havent. So whether that be from a questionairre..or when you take out a card...even your local council. Your council have the right to sell on your details to companies like excell so long as you've said yes. So your best bet is never give anyone your telephone number, and if you really must, just tell them you dont want to receive any promotional calls and that you want confirmation of that sent out in writing. By law they have to comply.
Again all i was TRYING to do was provide you with some insight and try to help you understand what goes on and ways of stopping this. - GavinI have purposely (as per my letter to the company) NOT given my number out and I would like to find out who has sold my number and contact them also.
I understand your comments regarding jobs, and I feel sorry for the people that work there and have to deal with calling people like me. I have purposely tried to answer one of the calls from this company to give them a piece of my mind but unfortunately their system is so bad they can't even deal with the illegal calls they are trying to make... Hence my comments, don't try and tell us not to blame the people that work there, as they are the ones on the other end of the phone... They should expect every bit of abuse they get, they are in fact, working for a company that illegally calls people without their prior consent...
I have contacted the appropriate people and hopefully this will be dealt with. If it doesn't, I will consider taking other action, such as setting up diallers (and I have the telecoms capacity to do so) to severely interfere with their setup and cost them a considerable amount of money at the same time, not to mention the inconvenience. I hope I do not have to so this, as it will be a waste of my valuable time and resources, but I will do so anyway...- Caller: Stellar UK
- GavinIncredible, i've just found out this:
Barclaycard SOLD my details to this company...
Shame on Barclays...- Caller: Stellar UK
- BobAs i said before, its your companies and councils that sell details on, u need to ask them to stop doing it and provide a letter saying that they will, that should stop it for u
- KGGhad a call from this number two days ago saying they were from MBNA and were looking for my girlfriend - I explained she was at work and hard to get hold of... the girl on the phone then suggested my girlfriend call them back - but due to data protection she could not give me the number for my girlfriend to contact them on?!? Strange thing is - my girlfriend has nothing to do with MBNA!
- Caller: MBNA
- NessI just added the name to the reject list on my mobile. What a total pain in the butt they are.......called me about 4 times a day.
