orange and barclays also..... had 3 calls this week from them but never answer

they keep calling me, i can hear like a old fashioned modem sound

Got a call as soon as I said good afternoon and mentioned my company name, the caller cut off.

I also got a call from this number! Was told that it was something to do with personal insurance at Barclays. sounded dodgy to me, so i said I had to go and put the phone down!

this number has phoned me a lot over the last few weeks, though i have not awnserd it

This number has called me 3 to 4 times a day for the last week and it's realy annoying,because they call late as well.I'm also with Barclays,but it's strange to get a call from a bank at 8.30pm and 9.00pm

Yup Same here, Im on Orange and also with Barclays. They call 4-5 times a day!

I am not with Barclays nor Orange, and I don't know where they got my number. I think it is no one from Barclays at all...

i have this number ringing me 3-4 times a day for the last fornight. everytime they ring am working so i miss it or its between 7ish to 8ish same again i miss the calls. but its not on when there dont leave a answer phone message.

This number is really starting to irritate a lot of people..

I SUGGEST WE ALL START POSTING THE NUMBER ON AS MANY DODGY ADVERTISING AND SPAM WEBSITES AS WE CAN SO THAT THEY GET A LITTLE OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE..

I answered on one call from this number yesterday about 6PM but I couldn't hear anything. I missed this call today about 7PM and I don't plan to answer again. I'm O2 and I'm BARCLAYS.

Got this call on my vodafone mobile.Had enough,really.Not just the landline,now even the mobile.

had 2 calls already today...didnt answer either.

I had a call from the same number as everyone else today 21-4-09 but i didnt bother to answer, i often get calls and when i do answer its normally a recorded message regarding debt/money ofers, i always hang up..

Just got called about a minute ago.

They use a predictive dialer. Easy to spot by not saying anything and remaining totally silent (no background noise either). It'll confuse the system, which will -- after a few seconds -- connect you to an operator, who'll furiously check whether there's someone on the line.

Anyway, it was from Barclays, who wanted to sell me "personal accident cover". I'm not a British citizen though. Told the guy that, and that was the end of it.

PROTIP: If you don't know a number, pick up, and remain silent. If it's legit, the other person will say something soon enough. If all you get is silence, just hang up. Doing that gives you the benefit that a predictive dialer won't mark your number as a "human" one in its database.

I answered the phone call and was told it was Barclays accident cover.  The thing is I have already asked Barclays at the branch to put on my records not to contact me by phone.  They told me they had done this.  Therefore from my point of view the phone call was very suspicious, especially since I said I would go into the branch if I was interested and they said it was not available at the branch!

Yup they been calling me 2 times a day today 29Apr 2009.One at 12:59 and one at 17:07.  My mobile is a company one ond Virgin. I knew it was suspect as I never in years get numbers like that on my work phone.  Didn't answer a single call and they never left a message.  I guessed if it was urgent they would have left a message!  Think the person must be very sick , looking on the year when he or she did it first time.

every day it calls me ,but when i pick up i cant hear anything.

I got a call from this number today, I didn't answer it as I never answer numbers that I don't know, after all, thats what voicemail is for right?, but they didn't leave a message. From reading other comments on here it would appear this is Barclays, so people, here's the plan- Next time they call you- keep them on the phone as long as possible, after all they do have targets to meet don't they, so while we are wasting their time just like they waste ours, they might lose potential "sales" from the calls they could have made while we kept them on the phone.
OR, if your Bank or Credit Card Companies call you ( or if you call them ) then they expect you to answer " security questions " SO why not tell the caller that you're very glad they called you but you just need to ask a few questions in order for THEM to pass YOUR security criteria.
I think they might get the message from these hints folks, give it a go and let us all know how it went

This number has just started calling me often quite late as well. Guess what folks I'm also with Barclays. I have never had anything to do with Orange so I think they are off the hook.
I thought the 0800 number was a bit strange. I don't answer numbers I don't know or am not expecting because anyone who is legit will leave a message anyway.
