I have just found your site as I got an unanswered call on my phone.
By the looks of what is said here it is Barclays (I have and account with them) but I must say this method is likely to backfire on them as it is not a good PR job, just plain annoying and intrusive to use the details I gave in trust to them in this way.  Buzz of Barclays.

This number called me yesterday and when i cut it off it said on my phone - "BUY RING TONE" it hasn't charged me though thankfully!
Just rang me a moment ago but i ignored the call.

I am with Barclays, got 8 calls from this number in the last two weeks. Only once a message with a train on the background and no voice. Go on Barclays, fantastic PR job!

Phone rang but nobody was there.  The call was active for a while but no-one answered....

Should have said that I am not with Barclays or Orange so the mystery continues...

The fact we are all on Orange and have Barclays bank accounts smells like identity theft attempt. Question: Is anyone who posted here NOT on ORANGE + BARCLAYS??????? (or has been with them in the past)

It's not Orange (never been with Orange)

It is Barclays, 100% certain of it.

I've had a call from this number a second ago. I didn't answer and got no voicemail. I'm with T-Mobile and I've had loads of such calls. I ignore all of them.

This was Barclays doing some marketing calls.  Very polite man on the phone who said that he would 'tick the boxes' to say that I did not want to receive calls of this kind.  Told him that I was TPS registered and would report Barclays if they did call again!  Surprised to get a call like this as I have been with Barclays bank for 38 years and don't recall them ever phoning me before about anything whatsoever.  Obviously times are hard and they have had to join the rest of the phishers out there looking for trade.

I've had 3 calls in the last 2 days from this number, 2 of them this morning at 08.10 & 08.16am!
Sorry, but if this is Barclays, then they would not be calling at that hour!

I keep getting these calls on my land line, I dont answer and Im with Barclays,

This number is calling several times again.

guy claiming to be barclays - didn't sound very professional to me. i am not on orange. i do have an account with barclays but when i opened it i stipulated in writing not to receive marketing calls. (and never have until now.) if this number rings you, i suggest you go into your local branch and check with them whether it was legit. if it is, it's a poor tactic. if it's not, i'm sure barclays would want to know they are being impersonated and customer details used.

got a phone call from this number as a woman telling me this is from Barclay bank and ask for me details, then hang up.. receive few call from them. I will ignore this number from now on

I got the phone call from this number but i didnt picked up. How they got my number ;/

I recieved phone call again and i picked up this time. As Mr.bear Said its a female that is presenting herself as barclays bank member. She couldnt say my name properly so i closed the phone after that. DO NOT even pick up the phone if you see this number.

I got the calls as well. The person claimed he was from Barclays and he was flogging personal accident cover.

To beat these people at their own game, keep them engaged in conversation as long as possible. At the end of it say NO.

This way these people will waste so much time, it will not be worth it and they will have to close down.

Today (22nd June 2009) received a phone call from this same number asking for a woman named Svetlana. I explained he had called a wrong number. He was definitely an English person, quite well spoken. Put the phone down and then did a search and found this blog. It is definitely strange.

Got called by this number on my landline yesterday and today. Both me and the Mrs are with Barclays. However every time I go to pick the phone up they hang up.

I had a call from this number today but never answered, I'm a bit suspicious abot 0 800 numbers. It must have been some marketing
