Report a phone call from 08003289393 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- angreemacIndian sounding woman called - "do you use BT Broadband?" Why I asked. "BT is ending with Norton protection and you will need to change to ....?"
Then she said "do you want to download ....... now?"
I asked who she was, to which she did not respond. I asked why doesn't BT write to me about changes then?
How can someone claim to be BT & not know if I'm on BT broadband or not? She didn't know my name either? PHISHING PHISHING PHISHING - shame BT cant offer a SERVICE!- Caller: Did not answer that
- Suffolk LadCalled BT, they said that being ex-directory is different from being rmoeved from their list. I was then transferred to call centre in India, chap there simply got my phone number removed from the BT marketing calls list. Job done....hopefully! Lady aslo explained that should register with TPS as well.
- gingejust got a call from this number a chap called shaun about our broad band but had the wrong contact name, in all fairness the bloke he was after has left so i'll see what happens when he emails me as requested as i saw such a mix of responses on here!
- Howard AndrewsSilent call 21/04/2009
- LindaI have been called by this number many, many times in the last month or so - 3 times in the last 24 hours alone. One of those calls was at 2.00 this morning! I let 1571 answer any calls when I do not recognise the number. When I have dialed 1571 to get the message - there is only the sound of the television in the background, American programmes by the sound of the canned laughter and accent. I heard Ch 4 mentioned at 2 this morning and Ch 5 about 20 minutes ago. The person is holding the phone because now and then I can hear their intakes of breath and they hold the receiver for the full length of time you have to record your 1571 message in. If I answer, they put the phone down. I don't get spooked easily, but this is really annoying me now!
- GeoffThis number just keep calling its a real pain - especially as I divert calls to a mobile so it costs me every time they ring.
I have even gone via the TPS service to try and stop them, they just say its BT and they need to call from time to time with customer information i.e the latest sales cr*p.
If BT do read this I promise now never to buy from them what I can get from another company i truly hate them!- Caller: BT
- SharonI have been receiving calls everyday for the past two weeks, again if you call the number it says that "BT tried to call you if we need to contact you again we will". I called BT today and it would appear its from their marketing dept, I have asked them to stop calling I do not need anything from BT and if I do I will contact them!
- Caller: BT
- peterI just got a call from this number who hung up. Who are they?
- John PorterAbout 30 seconds silence, then ultimately a BT rep. came on the line and asked for me by name. I shut him up as I couldn't understand his high-speed gabble in a strong Irish accent. He then said he was just doing his job "to try to save me money", at which point I hung up in disbelief, having made the point that I did not accept business calls that I had not asked for.
If this really is BT they are setting a disgracefully bad example. I am registered with the TPS, but I believe that does not apply as I am a BT customer. Mind you, if they start making a habit of this sort of thing I might not be for much longer! - cynicI received this Time waster phone call twice today.
No-one spoke when I answered phone. Found this number on 1471:- 08003289393 - cwmacTwo silent calls, waited long enough for india to connect but still nothing.
Maybe it would be easier if they werent cutting jobs here and giving them all to asia, we could at least hold a conversation with someone who doesnt ask if i live up a mountain when i live in lincolnshire!!!!
dont even have bt line ! - JasonSilent for a few seconds then a pleasant irish lady saying she's from BT trying to sell me a new call package. When asked if she was actually from BT said she wasn't.
- MHTwo calls today from this number, each time I answered it cut off, I phoned the number back and it is a call from BT. Shouldn’t BT lead by example and not use auto diallers for their sales departments.
- Caller: BT
- AnnoyedI have received 4 calls from this number inb 5 days. Today they actually spoke to me. Asking me why I left BT. I told the caller he was abit late as I had left BT years ago!! He responded with "We are going through old records". The phone then cut off. Minutes later I was called back but fortunatelu or unfortunately (Take your pick!) I had inadvertantly left my answerphone on and didn't get to answer the phone in time. I am registered with the Call Preferencing Registry so I am reporting this to them. For info the CPR will contact BT to stop these calls but I believe I am right in saying that once this is done they can be fined £5000 if they do it again. Previous blogs on this website lead me to believe this called came from BT but your guess will be as good as mine as to the location.

- MichaelBt do not have the right to override TPS systems, which stands for Telephony Preference Service, it blocks up to 95% of calls, and Bt HAVE TO ask whether you allow them to call, you can allow them or tell them no, in which case if they call then they break the law.
This is a generated number, Bt are cold calling to a) sell something of no interest to most people, or b) chasing you for bills
hope that helped :D- Caller: bt
- Gerry (Scotland)Claims to be calling from BT, then goes on to ask all manner of questions relating to my telephone service (all of which should be known to a genuine BT representative).
On the one hand, if this is the result of outsourcing by BT, I am pleased that the company is safeguarding my account info (even if only due to EU restrictions on passing data out of the EU area); on the other hand, if the objective is to garner more business for BT, then an appropriate filter on numbers called should be used in order to prevent unnecessarily frustrating calls which serve only to further diminish the BT's reputation in respect of home telephony services.- Caller: BT
- ChytyWhat an utterly pathetic outfit BT is...
- KayI got a call from this number. It was to offer a 'thankyou' package of free evening and weekend calls. If you accept the offer you also agree to a 12 month contract with BT that will renew after 12 months unless you say otherwise. I have no intention of switching to a non BT service so I agreed to this and have no issue with it.
They do ask security questions but it was only my initial and 1st line of address - these are all publicly available anyway and do not put you in danger giving them out. They state the call may be recorded (this is in case you claim later that you didnt agree to the contract).
Just to double check, I found a number on the BT website and range that (the nuisance caller support line) and I asked them to confirm that this was indeed a BT service and they said it is.
Some people say they answer and the other side hangs up. This is because it's a computer ringing you and its only when you answer that the call is connected to a human - he/she sits at a desk and waits for calls to be put through. When you get hung up on it could be a fault or possibly the operator has hit a wrong button, signing off for a break or having a changeover (but that's just my guess).
Whether you are a BT customer or not you can report unwanted marketing calls via their website
Hope that helps!- Caller: BT
- johnI don't know who this caller as there never any message left or they just hang up.
