It's definitely 100% BT, I've had a problem with my broadband for two weeks and am waiting for it to be fixed, this number rang a short while ago, only rang once so came here to find out who, anyway I've just had a text message from BT saying they tried to call me, didn't try very hard with only one ring, say they will be back in contact on the 11th of this month.

Called just now purporting to be from BT. "Ahmed" told me that another customer (somewhere in Kent) has been getting my billing reminders. He asked me to confirm my address so that he could update the system. Bit daft as I'm on paperless billing and pay by direct debit. I declined to give him any information and told him I'd check the latest bill for my account online. It holds the correct address so either BT has gone barmy (I used to work for them and they seemed to be getting their act together) or more likely this is a scam using a BT number.

Just received a call from 08003289393 (caller Mohinderpal Singh, who said he was in Delhi). This followed an online chat with the same chap. What PUZZLES me, in retrospect, is his insistence that I closed the several BT sites I had open before he phoned me.

Def BT - I have a fault outstanding.  Called, I answered and it hung up immediately.  Then they called back.  Maybe they do it on autodialler to see if you're around before actually connecting an agent at their end?  Bit daft, but there we are.....   This is a "real" call that I was expecting, but there is no option to choose this from the list.

The only way to block calls like that is for you to buy a call blocker.

This is BT. I lost connection during an online conversation with the helpdesk, and received a follow up call. For me, it was helpful.

Seems to be a mixed bag of experiences from this number. I have just joined BT but received a call on my mobile today (which is Three not BT ) they (asian guy) rang three times then text me to say they were ringing..on the 4th ring I answered. They asked to speak to account holder..I said who is the person yiu want to speak to, they said they couldn't give me account holders name  I said I wasn't giving that information up unless they did. End of call!

Text message on mobile. Hi Upasna here from BT. I will call you from 08003289393 within the next few minutes to help resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Please save the number in your phone as 'BT' so that you know it's me calling you and not a sales call. Thank you

Had a call today from this #. left to voicemail as I was on another call.
Then got a text from 61998 Gerard (From BT) - stating that they'd tried calling earlier and there was one or two issues with my order that they need to speak to me about.
Text went on to say not to worry (and please don't call back) as they'll call me back between X and Y o clock tonight.
My instincts tell me it's suspect - the language is wrong and a little vague, but the timing is uncanny:
That very morning I'd cancelled an order for BT Fibre as they'd dropped the ball on the original order. I'd then confirmed back to TalkTalk (current provider) that I wasn't leaving them (they texted me too! - but "my voice is my password" confirmed this was genuine.
I'm going to dig further and report back.

    Ok, followup...
After calling INTO BT, a very helpful Scottish chap called IAN did some digging. Seems both the call and the text were genuine - as Ian was able to name the person who texted me and the precis content. I suggested that they make their texts more specific and official sounding.

This is definitely a BT number but scammers may be using it as a cover.

They called and asked me to go online onto google and select a corruption check on my mac.  They wanted my email address and said they needed to fix the corruption detected on my computer.  I said I would check this out and call them back before I put it my details on the website I was directed to.  Very odd, they said I would loose internet connection if I didn't.  I didn't do it.

I called BT to request something but the person who talked to me said he will do it and call me later. The following day he called with number telling that he calls from BT and asked a few security questions and said job done.I now realise he was not from BT
