Just received a call through this B.T. line...08003289393 from some unknown yet ignorant Irishman.  who apparently new i was no longer a BT customer.

He started to give some speil about BT reducing their charges by 60%,... so he was quickly told that they should have done that at the start of the Recession, and that i was ending the current discussion.

His response was that i couldn,t end the discussion, as he hadn`t started it yet, so he  decided to get Stroppy ....so i  ended that conversation by putting the phone down.

I am sure this is not a genuine BT SALES enterprise, as the style is more of a "Bullish Con Artist "......so if They ring you ...tell them you are just the baby sitter HA HA ...and dont give out any info !!...BE  WARNED !!

Firstly, like most on here, I get this number ringing and leaving blank messages on my answering machine.. I have caller display so I dont answer numbers I don't know. But its a bit bloody rude to leave blank ones!
CalmGuru, dont be such a knob jockey! People are fed up with BT's behaviour (if these calls are coming from BT). It's not professional to leave blank answerphone messages or hang up on people. Or even phone ex customers who chose to sign up for the TPS.

The BT Matrix unilaterally pulled my broadband's PPP (effectively killing my web sites and emails server's on-line operations). After withstanding several minutes of meaningless verbiage entirely directed with an embedded 'this is how YOU fix YOUR fault in YOUR premises' attitude I was finally connected with a BT human being who asked me about MY problem. I advised him that my copper was fine, my router was in sync but that BT had, once again, pulled my PPP. Graham carried out a number of local diagnostics but needed a cleared line to progress the testing (normal, I've been put through this countless hundreds of times over the years that BT have been seemingly unable to maintain a serviceable broadband connection). The usual
five or so minutes later Graham called back with the usual news that the line was fine, there was no problem found and that the issue would be handed over to wholesale for their usual brand of untraceable works. My server was allowed by the BT Matrix to automatically resume its otherwise ceaseless operations on-line an unnoticed and undocumented hour and half later without any intervention on my part whatsoever other than picking my BT phone to call out on my BT line to BT Faults to tell them that the BT Matrix had pulled my PPP again. The number 08003289393 was one from the BT Matrix.

I just received a call from 0800 328 9393 and it turns out it's an automated reverse charge call service.

I think this is a bona fide BT number as I have reported this morning a fault on my broadband and she called with regards to it.

It was an Indian-sounding lady and she has asked me to check my BT connection and if it is working. When I said I was at work she's asked me to call back on 08081009779 and use a pin number. Suspicious as I am of calls, even thought it sounds OK and makes some sense I still asked for my case reference number and will probably call BT via their normal faults number. Sad that we've all become so wary of phone calls from strangers but what else can one be other than suspicious : )

Received a message on my answerphone from this number stating they were BT and to inform me that my broadband had been barred and to call either 0800 800 150 or 0800 111 4567.

I dont have broadband with BT, it is with someone else, I owe no money to either company.  Has anyone else had a similar call?

Had a call today, no message left on answerphone.
Sadly phone is always on answer nowadays, unless a message is left from someone I recognise, I ignore !

I got this number on my mobile. Which I find strange as I have only had the number a few days. I am a BT customer and have sporadic raging battles with them about their incomptence over the last 3 years. I have put this on my rejected numbers list on my mob.

How is this pest and can anything be done

This number is displayed when anyone calls from any BT office!

Have just been called by this number now. I could barely hear what was being said as it was very quiet and 'tinny'-sounding, and then the caller hung up. I am a BT customer and I've never have any outstanding queries with them so I wonder why they're calling..?

I had a call from this number 08003289393 I did not recognize it so I did not answer the call I placed the number in google and got this page  moments later it rang again  and it was the same number. I answered the call but did not speak I heard one or to people in an office in the background but again did not speak finally a voice spoke hello and mentioned my first name.   I recgnized the voice it was a friend who I had been trying to get hold of earlier in the day  he was calling from work he works in the city in I.T.  and the number was a generic BT number he actually said that most people do not answer his calls from that phone again as tated in other comments it could be from a friend calling from work  as it was in my case good luck

this no called me on my moblie this morning at 8.30. i missed the call but i did report a problem to B.T yesterday so it may just be B.T trying to sort my problem. WHO KNOWS ?????

I am getting up to 6 calls every day now from this number, the number of calls increase each week, I don't pick up.

This has been going on for a few weeks.

I am not a BT customer but via my ISP Orange. So if BT has ANYTHING it wants to say to me then it should write (actually it does already - promotions about once a month).

I don't have anyone who's trying to reverse charge call me either, so this is unwarranted and (should be illegal) nuisance calling.

Who can we complain to?

Was a legitimate call. Have a conf call tomorrow and it was BT conferencing advising me details of my call.

had a couple of missed calls and blank answerphone messages from this number, as many of you, i dont answer unknown phonecalls and a good job i dont as ALL 7 of the numbers i have had trying to contact me in the last 2 weeks are on this site, either scams or salespeople, only seem to have had this problem since i used comparision sites for my car insurance....coincidence ???  i am not with BT for my phoneline or internet just seems odd how all of a sudden i am getting these calls especially seeing as i stated NO calls from any of the marketing companies when i filled my info out on the comparision sites !!!!  not happy :(

I work for bt and I can confirm is legitimate. I received a call back as I'd reported a fault.
