- missanongot a call from this number 5 minutes ago. Very odd! Claimed to be from BT but got my name wrong. when I said nobody of that name lived here he asked to speak to the main account holder. I don't have a BT account anymore! When I refused to give him information and told him he obviously had the wrong number he hung up??

- Alan SmithHello to all of you that have had a call from 08003289393 I recieved a call from this number today whilst I was on a business call on another line. I could have taken the call but dicided not to answer it as I did not recognise the number. After the call ended I typed in the number to google in order to read the results on this number.
I also dicided to call the number via Skype on my iPhone as this will not give out my real number just my Skype address infact it will just show up on a phone screen as CALL with no numbers displayed. Like outher people have stated on this page l got a voice mail telling me that BT called me and that if they needed to call me again that they would do so and not to do anything.
This reminded me of a call that I had before from a similar 0800 number before on that occassion I did not answer the phone either and it turned out to be a friend of mine that worked in IT in the City of London. he was working and had called from an office number at his work place.
So today with that in mind I called this friends mobile phone asking if he had just called me on my mobile from work Yes he told me and just wanted to make an arrangment for later on this evening. These calls can be a pain in the backside I accept However BT calling me on a business matter Hummm... Not sure about that one I have four phone lines and none of them are with BT also they called my personal mobile number So it stands to reason that this was not a BT business call. hope all of this helps it could just be that its an friend or someone you know calling from a work place using a work line that they are not meant to be using for personal calls.

- davoldGot another call from this today to my mobile. When answered got recorded message saying "the government has recently brought out new debt regulation blah blah blah".....a sales call basically and most likely a scam.
Weird that people on hear seem to be getting all sorts of different calls from 1 number. - peterim sick to death of this number and many others, funny if you send out a lot of emails in one go its classed as spam but even though my number is private why cant bt have the same set up eg you get these annoying numbers tell them and they block them Or is it because they need the revenue, im not paying a 3rd party to stop these numbers i pay enough each quarter with bt and thats before the calls

- L TurleyI run a design business that outsources printing, and some guy rung from this number this morning asking for a quote for printing 1000 leaflets. When I told him that we didn't offer print, and that he was better off contacting a printer direct, he said "uh..ok...thanks" and hung up. VERY ODD, because it sounded very much like one of those fishing calls that rivals print/design companies make to find out how much you're charging!
- AndreaChecked my landline phone tonight and saw there was a call from this number - listened to the message that was left on 1571 answer service, it was an Irish-sounding male saying he was from BT (he did not leave his name), that he was following up an email query of mine and that I'd be called again later. Throughout last week I had severe problems with my landline, which were not sorted out until last Friday, I experienced gross incompetence from BT in sorting this out, as a result of which I emailed them today via their website to complain. On the way home from work today, checked my mobile and saw there was a voicemail message, shown as being left just a few minutes before - which was strange, because my mobile had not rung and did not show any missed calls, I checked the missed and received calls lists and no calls were shown as being received at around the time the message was left. I was therefore suspicious and decided not to listen to the message. When I checked the landline, I noticed that the call from BT was at the almost exact same time as the voicemail message was left on my mobile - so that voicemail message was probably from BT, who shortly after leaving the message on my landline emailed me regarding my complaint.

- MikeI was going to say "This number called me earlier today" ... and then I realized that it was on my CLID unit because I'd done a 17070 "ringback test" to check a phone. Duh! So it *is* being used by BT, but possibly also this number is faked by scammers as their outgoing number so that BT get the blame. Beware :)
