I keep getting called by this number in the evenings, around 7pm or 8pm. When I answer it hangs up after 5seconds. If they ever actually answer then I wont hangup, I'll just stay silent on the line &see how they like it!

It's BT asking if you want broadband.

Said was from BT wanting to know who I paid my bills to and
whether I paid sky or ISP for calls.
As soon as I said all to BT he said thanks and hung up.

I've had several calls from this number in the past couple of days.  I answer (after only a couple of rings) either to have nothing or a beep on the end of the line.  Sounds like some kind of auto-dialer to me.  I'm not sure if it's targetting my office land line (BT) or my mobile (O2) as I current have the former redirected by BT to O2.

Ive had yet another call from these guys - wanting to get me to re-join BT, and yet again Ive said 'no thanks'. persistent isnt the word :(

This number called me at 2am this morning waking my entire house up.

This is 100% legitimate number from BT... my bro works for BT and just called me from work on this number!

At least 6 'silent' calls from this number today 16 Dec 08 - and it's only 3.30pm.
Confounded nuisance

Had this number ring before, I can never understand what they are saying so I just tell them to P... Off

Silent call ... A bloody nuisance ...... I have TPS (Telephone preference service) activated through BT but this caller still gets through ...... Between 1st and 17th Dec i have received this call at least twice a day ..... AM & PM

I have been contacting BT through their BT Wholesale website which is for corporate users, and I have just had them call me from this number. They didn't hang up, but resolved the problem in which they called me for.

If you call this number back it tells you its BT anyway!!

These t***s called yesterday and have just called at 9.15am, just what the wife needed when she got in from work. I'm on the war - path!

Got a call from this number 08003289393 today at 12.30pm. When I answered, the caller hung up and so I put the phone down. This is well annoying and I have been recieving calls like this for a very long time now. How am I to stop these nusuince calls?

2 calls in quick succession today. No answer, silent calls. I'm getting really peed off with this and I'm going to report the calls to BT as nuisance calls, don't care if it is a BT number

Had a call from this number today. The caller seemed genuine enough and wanted to know if I provided a particular service (which I do,all above board!!!). I asked him to email me with the details but nothing has been emailed to me as yet. I called the number back and got the BT answer machine Blurb.

hmmm im now getting calls every day from this number, on my mobile - called it bck and it just said it was a bt call, but i'm with Three and landline is with virgin media..... strange

As has been noted above, for me it was BT calling re whether I would like broadband.  The first call was silent, the second about 10 minutes later had a live operator on the end, who was courteous.  Thankfully, I've not had a series of these calls!  My condolences to those who are being absolutely pestered by this number :(
