I contacted them today on 020 8484 1000, got a polite girl who said she would remove me from their database.

Hopefully end of.

Called 020 8484 1000 this afternoon. Spoke to (presumably the same) polite girl who works for The Listening Company and explained that I had just received my 3rd Silent call in the course last few days.

She apologised and said that she would email her colleague who looks after their list of phone number to call and remove my number.

She said that it might take 2-3 days to work through the system but my number will be removed.

An annoying but legitamate marketing agency making calls on behalf of a number of different clients. Previously used by BT, SKY, MBNA, TOYOTA, TRAVELODGE, VW and other large companies. It tends to use automated dialling equipment, hence occasional silent calls. To prevent further Sales and Marketing calls dial 0800 032 4617, then follow the voice prompts.

they have been calling over the last couple of days.  luckily got caller id so when i see it i just leave it in front of the tv etc. still on as no one calls the house number really jsut there for internet and emergencies.

not happy though.  have called 0800 032 4617 and hopefully removed it.  

how have they got my number though?!

Had this number ring me a few times now on my mobile.  Have saved then number in contacts with the name "Spam" and will ignore from now on.  Pain in the ar*e.  Looks like the authorities are up to their usual standards.  Still never mind, they'll still have their index linked pensions funded by the taxpayer... makes you sick!!

I received a phone call from this number yesterday claiming that the company was Sky.  He asked me confirm all of my details over the phone which i was rather dubious to do.  After a brief phone call and him telling me he needed to call me back on Friday regarding this phone call i hung up and called 1471.  After jotting the number down i telephoned Sky to make sure he was a legitimate caller.  They confirmed that he worked for the Listening Company but was calling on behalf Sky and they subcontracted calls to them.  I have therefore requested to Sky that nobody from the listening company ring me again as i wasnt prepared to confirm my details over the telephone.

Just had a call from this number 06-06-08 12:30 pm. I missed the call, but was curious as to who it was.   I have just googled the number and want to say thanks for useful info on your site.  I certainly will not be answering the number if they contact again.

i have noticed this number on my caller id list several times recently but have not been there to answer it when it came through. Does anyone know what this is and why they are calling? My telephone number is ex-directory so I should not be getting this type of unsolicited call.

I've had this over the last few days 10-13 June 08, the people claim to be from Sky. They were askin for all my details which I wouldn't give them as I told them I didn't believe they were from Sky, it's clearly an Indian call centre. Very annoying!

Called tonight after 8pm. Seen their no. on my caller display several times but never answered it before... tonight decided to see who it was so answered... Knew my name and claiming to be from sky, wanting to know my password? WHen I said I wasn't in they asked if anyone was in that would know the password?!?! I thought wtf.  I'm also ex-dir and been on TPS for ages and very careful who I give my no. to (and always tick the box for no spam etc when signing up for things) so I'm annoyed to say the least that someone must have illegally given out my no.  Will just continue to waste their time if they keep calling a la My Angry from Dom Jolly's The Complainers ^_^

Unfortunately, despite this company using anoying work practices, I think most people will find they are not breaking any laws, and the TPS will not be able to do anything to stop them.
Most, if not all of the people they phone are clients of their clients and as such, have on some form or other ticked or not ticked the box meaning they have allowed the company they have dealings with to pass their details on to a third party. In other words most of you agreed to let these people phone you up.
The way they go about doing it IS bloody annoying tho, but perhaps being more careful when filling in forms would be the way ahead.

They left a message, claimed to be O2 about a callback I requested on their website. Lies. I did send O2 a business tender, and requested to be e-mailed back, which they haven't done, so I refuse to answer. I filled in their form, on their terms, now if they want my business they can act on mine.

Answered call from this number but just silent when I answer.  Have called the who calls me phone number, I hope this sorts it.  I dont fancy getting the night time that some have mentioned.  How annoying.

Damn idiots have rang twice in one hour, no caller just silence. Get a grip you bunch of numb nuts.

Been receiving these calls for over a month, getting more and more, even though I don't answer them, they keep on calling, does anyone know of a technique to sort them out?

Keep getting calls from this number - had 3 today and It's only 3pm!
When I answer, there is nobody there, then they hang up, how annoying!!!

I keep getting this number calling as well. It is a complete nuisance. I think we should all just call the number back and leave the line open once answered.

They have to pay for the 0800 number and it is free to call. That way their lines will be busy for the duration of the recorded calls, their bill big, and they shouldn't be able to dial out. Lets fight fire with fire!!!!

The same principle as sending junk mail with free reply envelopes back attached to a brick or with all the other junk mail included (without your details on them that is)to bump up the postal cost.

I haven't called the 0800 unmber to get delisted but this could be a redivert scam that diverts you to a premium line so I would call BT or the TPS service.
