Earlier in the week I did need to ring Virgin but got an irritating woman with a strong Indian accent who refused to listen to me and just kept repeating the same thing. i got fed up with her. Since then someone has rung me several times from the above number but left no message. I never answer 08 numbers or people who withhold their number. I put a message on the Virgin Forum today to ask them to leave a message if they wanted to speak to me. It seems to have been deleted.

Had 4 calls today, did 1471 and it was this number - i find if you blow a whistle or scream loudly down the phone or swear loudly they don't call you back.  friend of mine had this happen and calmly told them he was a police office who had tracking equipment and was tracing them.

Hey, got a call from this number to my mobile about 5 minutes ago asking for my granddad by his first initial and last name, i passed him on but listened in on the call as it seemed suspicious. After reading some posts on here is seems to be possibly the same oriental sounding woman. They said something about wanting to reward him for being a customer for so long and that he needed to confirm who he was which sounded legitimate enough, asking for his first name and the first and last letters of his password, at that point i just took the phone back and hung up.

What struck me as odd isn't so much the fact that we had a call, but the fact it was to my mobile, he has a virgin media phone line, so to call a mobile that may have used maybe once total to virgin media struck me as peculiar.

Hopefully i don't start getting more calls from them like others have said.

Yes, this is Virgin Media and it's genuine.  They rang my land line about 5 times a day until I actually answered... they were calling to offer me one of their mobile phones, and were aware of my existing packages.  I was dubious, but they said that as I was such a loyal customer they were offering it to me at no cost.  Well eventually I did take them up on their offer and my shiny Samsung Galaxy duly arrived a few days later.  As for the no cost bit, well what they did was put me on their tenner-a-month contract and knocked a tenner off the other bill that they send me every month, so essentially they were telling the truth.

I have had 3 calls from this number in the last 3 days, always silent, but when I use 1471 I get a message to say it was a courtesy call from Virgin Media. I have contacted Virgin Media to complain, but they know nothing about these calls. Either the right hand does not know what the left is doing or something very strange indeed is happening???

I had a few missed calls from this number then last night at 8.45 pm I had a call on my mobile from an Asian lady saying she was from virginmedia and wanted to reward me for loyalty. She wanted me to give her 2 letters from my password . I asked her why shed rung on my mobile when I had a landline and why she was ringing late at night. She said she could ring back but I said I wouldnt be giving information over the phone and rang off. This morning I rang 150 and spoke to someone at virginmedia who said it was a scam and not to give out any information .

This is a salespersn from virgin media. They are trying to sell either an upgrade or convert you from your current supplier to virgin.
Getting annoying as they call at least once a day if not more!

Its Virgin Media sales team...calling from god only knows what country.  Heavy fake American accents - points to somewhere other than India - but who knows.
I rang 150 and went through to sales and got them to stop these calls - took about 12 minutes to get through and ask politely for the UK calls girl to sort it out...hopefully they will stop now.
I work nights and these persistant calls wake me up quite regularly!

I keep getting calls from this number and am asked for my bank details and passwords. I have refused to give any information. When I ask for the name of the person calling and who they represent they refuse to give me any details.
I believe this to be a dodgy scam, and even if I ring the number back it says "Virgin Media have called you but don't worry, we will call you at another time."
We have no contracts or business with Virgin Media, so this MIGHT be cold calling, but if so it should be stopped. I am now refusing to answer calls from this number. Suggest anyone else does the same. DON'T PLAY SOP TO COLD CALLERS WHO TRY AND GET YOUR BANK DETAILS.

Received a call from this number 2 days ago. The Indian? lady seemed to be familiar with my Virgin services and made me an incredible upgrade offer which I accepted. There was some mention of Blackberry that I didn't follow - my hearing is not that clever - but whatever it was I declined. I was told that someone would call next Tuesday to do the upgrade.
Because the offer seemed too good to be true, I rang Virgin sales and their installation people the next day to clarify what I had agreed. Both said no-one had accessed my account since the end of January, and there was no engineer call pending.
I have changed a few passwords, so I should be safe, and reported the matter to the police.
However, what bothers me most is the fact that this number has been discussed on several different forums - including Virgin's - for at least 2 years, but Virgin have done nothing. If it is part of their set up, they should have at least kicked the a****s of the people responsible. If not, a disclaimer to all their customers would be in order. It does not seem to be a problem contacting everyone when they are trying to sell you something, so this should be a doddle for them.

virgin media have been constantly phoning and being a pest for the last few days (sales calls). Asked them to remove the number from their automated list.To get them  to do so, I asked them to put  me through to disconnections to cancel the account. This prompted a promise from them to take me off the list! we'll see!!
