When I ring it, there's the usual Virgin Media recorded message. I am a customer & when I received another of these calls several weeks ago & rang Virgin, they said there was no record of them calling me on my account, but it was probably a courtesy call to see if I was happy with the service. Reading some of the other people's comments on here, I'm glad I never answer, as I dislike marketing calls. One thing I don't understand, is why, if the call is from Virgin Media, why it doesn't say so on my phone's screen?

Caller said he was from virgin media said he knew where I lived and that he was based just down the road, asked for first two letters of my password,. I suggested this shouldn't be given over the phone but he said he had all my bank details and could offer me a discount on calls for landlines as I was a heavy user (I don't have a virgin media mobile BTW) and we are not heavy users by any means. I suggested Virgin could send me any offer in writing,. He said this wasn't possible but he could e-mail me the offer. He then quoted my (non VM) e-mail address to me. I checked and found virgin had used this before, presuming those e-mails were from virgin!

He has not yet e-mailed me.

Just received yet another call from this number, which I believe is Virgin Media. and yet again, I ignored it! I will not answer marketing/sales calls & if they need to contact me with offers, they can write, so I can see these offers in writing, rather than be badgered into them over the telephone!

Been getting occasional calls from them for the past month. All cold-calls with noise in background of asian speakers.

Reporting them to local police tomorrow.

Got called today by this number around 16:10, nobody there and the connection didn't drop when I hung up, (still connected when I tried to pick up again) I had to wait a minute or so until it "timed out".

Incidentally, if you /call/ the number, you get a recorded message which confirms this is Virgin Media.  It also mentions that "you don't need to get in touch, a member of our team will call you another time" which sounds very much like it's simply marketing.

I have had lots of calls from 08004089340 and 08004089341 (same people), despite repeatedly asking them to stop and calling Virgin and being told they had no record of the number. Extremely annoying.

I finally (I think) got it stopped by asking the caller's name, her team leader's name, the division of Virgin Media (Virgin Media Home Phone Review Department) and their location (Manila). Was somewhat encouraged to be told this information straightforwardly. I told her we were fed up to the back teeth with the calls and she promised to get them stopped. I then phoned Virgin on 150 and was told yes, a stop had indeed been put to these calls to my number in the last few minutes. So they do appear to be genuinely originating from Virgin, and it appears the best strategy is to ask the sales person him/herself to put a stop to them, not rely on 150 to do it, though the magic words "NC screen" and "Option 4" (as in message above) may well work there too.

I bought one of those true call extensions that you can prevent anyone from calling you that you don’t like. Once set up they just cannot get through but you can allow your family and friends to get through straight away without any problems, their numbers are put on the allowed list. Cold callers can be barred with an unobtainable tone or need to leave their name before you answer the call; a voice will ask you if you would like to receive this call after the name is played back to you. You can also zap certain numbers so they cannot get through. This number  08004089340 rang twice yesterday but just obtained an unobtainable tone so they are persistant. The units are a bit expensive but do solve the problem and are easy to set up. And no I do not work for this company, just happy with their product. Steve

Just had a call from Virgin Media stating they can save me some money. The lady asked for 2 letters off password. She was given these as i thought nothing of it. I could hear her delaying and she must of been distracted.
Anyway called 150 and asked the customer services about this and they said it was there outbound sales team. But he had no idea what they was offering me.
I told him about the giggling and he apologised as a apologogy £10 off my next bill. Happy days.  I was told the name of the caller as it leaves a footprint in there system, this is to detect matters like this i guess. But she will be told off now as was un-professional and should of made comments in my file.
