why are you calling me?

I have had about three of these calls to my O2 mobile number in recent weeks. They know my name and that I am a Virgin Media customer. The caller is hard to understand (Indian ?) and waffles on and on, testing my patience, then asks for my Virgin Media password. I always decline saying that they called me, and I will not give my details and hang up. I have now set this number in my phone memory as 'Dodgy Number', so if I see it coming up, I do not answer it. Even so, they are a pain in the A**

How the hecku report it to virgin the their daft phone system just has u going in circles

i would like to know how they got the number as the line is only 2 week old and i haven't registered it anywhere except Tesco :/

I had a phone call from this number telling me I could upgrade to the next tv package half price for the next 3 months, They asked for 2 digits of my password which I gave, and told me this would be set up for me in 24hours, I was a bit wary about this so I decided to do some research of this number. Alot of people were saying this number was a scam which started to worry me. Anyway I left it to the next day, checked my tv and I had all the tv channels as promised. So I can only assume that this number is virgin as I hadnt spoken to them before this fone call!

Since the beginning of June, I have received 7 calls from this number, on my mobile phone.  As I did not recognise the number, I did not answer.  I am with Virgin Media, but I'm sure they don't know my Mobile number, just my landline one.  So I doubt that it is Virgin Media, they must have got my number from someone else.

just mashed my keypad and sent a bunch of loud tones through the the telepest's headset. they soon hung up

Just had a missed call from this number it didnt ring for long.  I have previously had a call from this number but missed it also.  If i get another call - god help them!

Had just one missed call from this number today on my mobile. They are a sales company acting as Agents for Virgin Media. If they were Virgin Media they would not need to ask for ypoor account number, they would know it. And they most certainly would not ask for passwords.
I have written to Sir Richard (not that it will do any good) asking him on beehalf of us all to investigate this agent and please shut them down.

I had a call this evening from number 0800 408 9340 the lady who was English sounding said she was from Virgin Media, I didn't give out any personal info and ended the call promptly, I have then called 150 for virgin customers or 0845 454 1111 and spoke with a gentleman who checked the system and said that this number was indeed one of their marketing numbers and when I explained I wasn't going to give out any personal info to anyone claiming to be from a company his answer was that it is virgin's policy to go through security checks whether they call me or I call them! I didn't agree and said I would never give out personal information regardless of who they say they work for.
I asked him to ensure they did not contact me again, he said that he could fill in a form to make sure I was opted out of the marketing.... hopefully this will stop these calls!
My advice is to give no details out what so ever then contact 150 and ask to opt  out from marketing

I called 150 and  selected the option to change my media package, as I wanted them to opt me out of marketing, seems I went through to the right place and hopefully the info has been stored so I get no more calls! Good luck

Three calls in the last few days - sais to be from Virgin Media the other two were missed calls.

this number has been calling me driving me insane.  I have written to VirginMedia now via their online contact sheet. I hope they don't CALL me to discuss it!! What with them and British Gas sales this weekend my phone hasn't stopped!!!  Also, one of the calls went through to message instead of instantly hanging up when my voicemail answered and after hearing people in the call centre talking in the background awhile an asian guy started singing down the phone!! Clearly oblivious to the fact the phone had connected to my voicemail....ARGH!

I just got a call from this number. Lancashire accent though. They wanted to speak to the account holder who I said wasn't here and they said they'd call back later when I said they'd be in later.

Is the scam still going or is this a genuine call now, I wonder?

Yep - been getting one a day for the last couple of weeks, ignoring - However some time ago this was happening just the same and I eventually answered and spoke to an asian? lady. I let her witter on - she mentioned Virgin I recall - until she had to breath and then told her very slowly that I was not interested and to stop calling me. Hung up on her as she then started her speech over again!!

Scam caller. Don't answer and definitely don't call back!

I had a call today, said they were from VirginMedia but then told me I didn't have a password setup on my account and wanted me to set one up.  I know I have a password set, I think you are required to set one up when you get an account.  I told her I didn't want to set one up right now and hung up.

Had that number0800 4089340 just ring me and to be perfectly honest if they riing it again I am going to shout the C*** word down the phone. Give them some ficitious address and direct debit details and say my name is Jesus Christ.
