Was called this number but didnt have chance to get to answer it and as everyone else has said, didnt leave a message, nor could I phone back on it. I am waiting for an appt for surgery so didnt want to be hanging about, not daring to go out in case they phoned again. I agree its a stupid system. So I phoned my doctors surgery and asked the receptionist for the hospital's number (appointments) which she gave me and I then got through to the hosp and got the info they were phoning me for. It is such an inefficent way of doing things though. They could have missed me time and time again even if I was at home but outside or something!

its a no brainer. if you get a call and you do not recognise the number/caller hang up.never return a call.

Not a 100% here but for an 0800 number not to accept incoming calls is unusual.
However this is my elderly parents L/L that was called,and could well be NHS #Scotland.

Once again folks, " if a call is of an important nature, a message will be left " I.e. docs,hosps, etc...

Why not do as dentists have done for years and send texts, to those with mobiles.

Why can they not leave a message. I have multiple clinics I attended and never know who it is.  Very annoying.

I get this number twice a day. I live on the Isle of Skye, and our nearest NHS major hospital is Inverness.
Maybe it is one of those 'cold callers'. When we pick up the phone they know that someone is at home to answer the phone and then sell on the information to other companies.

As stated if this is NHS number then why do the idiots on the line not leave a message I will still treat this as unknown until it's confirmed that it is NHS

Just received a call from this number 11 o'clock on a Sunday , a guy said hello I then hung up thinking it was one of these scams u here about !  Now trying to think after checking the number, why would they be phoning me!! Don't know but if important they'll phone back or leave a message

It is DEFINATELY the NHS and a National number. They changed to this national nr due to people not answering witheld nrs. They have called me on various occasions from this number to re - arrange my operation date, and other appointments I have!

This was anti natal at queen Margaret hospital in dunfermline to rearrange an appointment I had

just had a call from this number saying it was ahsa from india and he wanted to donate one of his kidneys, I work for NHS out of hours and we received the call ??

This number called me at 1.30 in the morning, told man I was not amused
