I have had numerous calls from this number to my mobile which as it is an 0800 number I have ignored like any others I get with the 0800 prefix.

Having recalled the number to see who it is, I got the same message as previous comment on your site.

I had a call from this number, I phoned it back from a call box. They say it was the CSA, I am not entirely sure.

I do have dealings with the CSA, however they usually write and dont call my mobile. I didnt give my mobile number to them.

They wanted my national insurance number , I refused to give it to them. A flash of inspiration made me ask them for my case number, they refuse so we were at deadlock.

If they could confirm the case number at least I would know it was the CSA.

Anyway they said they would write instead.

who are CSA because I had a missed call from them but didnt recognise the number so i googled the number and found out who it was but there loads of CSA on the internet so i dont know who they are. Can anyone help?

When you don't answer they leave a voicemail saying they are a government department wanting to discuss a business matter.

They are the CSA (Child Support Agency)

I claimed for job seekers allowance a few days ago online, this is the number they called me back from.

I had a call from this number yesterday. when I asked them to confirm 1 letter of my sons name they said they couldnt. so i ended the call. I then phoned the csa on the national number. The lady i spoke to told me nobody had phoned me as it would have been logged on there system. My case has been closed for 2 years!!! its a con trying to get your details.... And for those of you that reckon you work for csa its crap.... you lot on the phones dont work out how much we pay. its down to every individual case. also if you are an employee of DWP you would know that part of your contract states you are not allowed to discuss any goverment procedure with anyone outside the working enviroment......bang ur fired!!

How about you PAY FOR YOUR CHILDREN YOU HELPED CREATE insread of spending all your time moaning about someone asking for your DOB. If you dont wanna pay for kids... DONT HAVE THEM AND KEEP IT IN YOUR PANTS! I pay for my kids and you should too, you deadbeat LOSERS.

Had a call, but hung up when I answered it

I have again been called by this number just now.

An 'officious' woman asked for my name and postcode as the call was a personal matter.

Having distrust of all persons asking a question without introducing themselves first I refused to confirm my name and postcode.

I stated that I do not reply when the call is unsolicited but if the person confirmed who THEY were and the nature of the call I would be happy to help her..

She said fine if that's how you want it and we closed the call.

I believe it is the CSA. I pay my maintenance every month so fail to see whay they want to talk to me.

DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED. jUST BE COOL AND POLITE AND TURN THE QUESTION BACK ON THE CALLER

At the end of the day the same answers can be gained by their writing a letter to me as they obviously have my name and address.

I think that the majority of people who pay Child Support do so willingly, however, I think the crux of the problem is the way the Child Support is calculated with no regard for anything that is not in the calculation matrix.

For instance, if you took on all the debts from your previous marriage, this debt is not taken in to account.
if you have 2 children by your present partner, this is not taken in to account.
if your former partner is now working and still claiming benefit, this is not taken in to account.
Where you live in the country is not taken into acccount, for instance my housing allowance is £110pw, but I live in an area where I pay nearly 3 times that amount on my mortgage...

I must admit, the Child Support Agency do have a more human face nowadays, however, the calculations they use could be personalised.

When you answer the phone they used to say they were calling from the DWP until they verified your identity then would tell you the CSA, this is to prevent other people who may answer your phone finding out your business. EG If your father answered and you'd never told him you had a 'secret' child, it would protect your secret. The CSA was part of the DWP so there is nothing wrong with them doing this and it is not illegal. The DWP covers a lot of departments.
The CSA then stopped being part of the DWP and so they would say 'a government department'.

I Just answered the phone to this number and it was indeed the CSA. They were calling me to update me on my case.

A caller purporting to be from CSA rang on the above no. at 14.32 on 12/01/2011 introducing himself as Shane. He knew my name and told me he 'Had some news'. And asked for my NI as verification of my identity. Fortunately I told him I couldn't remember it off the top of my head, and he said he'd call back the next day. I thought it was more than a little odd and googled CSA Ni scam and lo and behold there was this number. Needless to say the call didn't come.

i'm getting telephone call from this number and they are refused to interduce themself but keep calling. I need to know who are they and why they are calling.

My husband and I have recently realised that he has been paying way more than he should be to the CSA, on contacting them they informed me that they owe us a lot of money, in trying to sort this mess out I requested a call back from a supervisor at the CSA. A little while later I missed a call from this number - 08007838527 - I called the CSA to see if it was the supervisor that had tried to call me back, I was correct, therefore this number is definately the CSA in Belfast.

The number is one that they use to call you on, you cannot call back on that number. The number to call the CSA in Belfast is 0845 6090092, I have this on all official documentation from them. We have also just recently received some cheques from them re this overpayment, can't imagine that if it was a scam they would actually give you money!!!!
