My better half works for the DWP and if she rings home this is the number that is on the phone when you try 1471

its the number that the department of work and pensions which includes the job centre, csa, and other government departments use, no scam, oranything suspicious going on here.

I'm still none the wiser about this number. People state it is the CSA other people JSA. I work for DWP and our numbers don't come across as an 0800 number as they are all 0845, but I do believe it is the DWP. I just don't understand why they have called me. I dont have children and obviously dont receive JSA as they are my employer. Any other ideas anyone? I've never heard of people receiving calls like this before hence the confusion.

Its the department of work and pensions or department for social developments sks CSA

I received a call to my mobile phone from 0800 783 8527 but didn't answer it because I was already on my landline to the benefits people as I had just applied for jobseeker allowance.  As I didn't recognise the 0800 number I decided to 'google' it and came upon this website.  I am amazed by what I have read and concerned that the people calling me, which was legit, would be trying to call me at the same time on my mobile. Stupid or what? Hardly gives you any faith in the system does it.

As many people say, it could be the DWP/CSA... but it still goes without saying that most government numbers nowadays have their numbers on the internet. When i googled this number, in a few different ways; there was no search results to indicate who was calling. I even tried to 0845 that someone suggested... still nothing.

I actually got a housecall just before this called me about an hour ago. It rang 3 times, and as i was sleeping seeing as it was in the morning and i don't have a phone near me... how the hell was i sposed to get up and answer in time? Then just as i got to the phone and it went off, i went back to my mobile and apparently in no time at all, it had phoned both the house phone, and my mobile number.

I don't care whoever it is... at least give me a chance to answer the damn thing before you start putting it down as fast as you phone. Not that i'd have answered anyway; i hate picking up cold calls and now i'm even more skeptical as i've just looked up the JSA website and they only list that they have 0800, 0845 and 0870 number, but don't list full numbers. Nice to see government departments can keep everything private about themselves yet every fiber of our being is at their disposal.

This number had been calling my boyfriend for about 2-3 weeks now. We thought it was the CSA but when answered said they were from DWP and as he is claiming no benefits etc they have no reason to be contacting him so we hung up. Since then they called again and i told them it was my number and not his. (it was his number). I spoke to the CSA and they said they had no file for him and they haven't tried to contact him. Since then they have called MY mobile!! how on earth did they get my number?! the only thing i can think of is someone else is passing on this information to them?

woman called nicky called from 'national work and pensions' office asking me to answer some questions for security reasons. i didnt give my DOB i just asked how i was supposed to know who she was and i why i should give my details to someone ive never spoken to. so i asked for number to call back on. that number was 08456 090072 - the freakin CSA. so now i am already p1ssed with them for being so underhand. just goes to show you cant even trust your own government.

I had a call from 08007838527 and it was the DWP based in Newcastle regarding employment i had applied for within the DWP.

Hmm, had 2 missed calls,on the third I answered it and it hang up, then rang back - got charged for both answering and calling back ... Contacted DWP depts I have dealings with and no one had a clue that the number existed, and they are not trying to contact me ... The plot thickens!!!

Hey I just received a call from this number as well! I did not answer it! I amfull time student and I do not work!

I was phoned out of the blue from this number and asked if I was Mr X and for my date of birth for "identification". I said I didnt give such info either to callers or emailers I could not identify. Lady said she was from DWP and would write to me instead. I said fine. Watch this space!!

Rang me 4 times. When i answered on the last time they didn't say anything. Stupid [***].

This number is a government number that is used by some departments caller id system when the subject matter is sensitive (eg. CSA, Fraud, Benefit Claims).  They do this so that should someone other than the person ring back (ie wife, partner, hubby), they just get the recorded message and they havn't given any info out.  Apparently a lot of people do not tell their partners that they have children from other relationships. How Do I Know, i asked the qestion when they phoned me.

i get calls on a regular basis where the caller hangs up and doesnt leave a message. its only happened since my ex applied for benefits for herself and the kids so is clearly the CSA tracking me. and as for the snidey comments about paying taxes I DO! not only do i pay thousands in income taxes i pay the mortgage and bills where my ex and 2 children live. is that good enough for the CSA? apparently not they want £115 as well!

This number keeps calling me and I haven't answered yet. I have however applied for JSA and was told they would call me within the next 2 days so I have no reason to believe it's not them - I've given them my mobile number.

Defo DWP. My wife works there and this number comes up when she calls.

They rang me, buh i did not answer, today however i did apply for JSA, but they said they'll contact me within 2 working days, not on the day i applied for it, so im OFFICIALLY CONFUSED.
If they call back tommorrow, i shall answer.
