- Sharky| 1 replyIts the CSA and also used for DWP. Call centres have people who can take inbound calls or outbound calls and some can do both.
If you are in a "dialer" system you will be called by an automated dialing system which only connects to an operator when you speak into the phone. So if you hear a silence and don;t speak then the call won't conect. If you say hello, there will be a short pause and then the operator should speak. Now as the dialer system is only an oputbound dialling system is can not recieve incoming calls and if it left a number that could be called it would block up the lines so it leaves either a withheld number or in this case an automated message at the end of a "dummy" number.
Loads of companies including my own use this system and its likely that this number is generic for a number of DWP departments
I was just called on this number and spoke to them. i have dealings with CSA and it is legit. Plus I am a Fraud investigator so am pretty good at spotting scams.- Caller: CSA

- OlazI got a call on my house phone yesterday night from a lady who claimed to be calling from Child Support Agency and I answered, how may I help you? She asked for my DOB and I refused bluntly. I told her that I do not have any business whatsoever with CSA as I live with my partner and kids and cant think of any reason why she would be calling. I stressed if she fails to tell me there and there why she called, then I'll put the phone down. Resultantly, I put the phone down. This was a fraudulent and deceitful call that may perhaps have come from one of the government offices to gather one's data or for other reasons unknown to me but as I have nothing to worry about, I really dont give a two f**ks. If truly this was a means to obtain one's data, then this government surely must be ashamed of itself. It is ridiculously ludicrous. Some of us pay our taxes and dont need this BS...

- JohnMy wife had 3 phone calls today from this number, claiming they were form the CSA , enquiring about a 7 year old case that had been stuck in the system! After the 5th call they wanted to speak to me. After answering a few security questions and listening to some incompetent idiot explaining how I owed money from 2003, I became slightly suspicious! I complied with the information I was being told, and offered to continue any further correspondence via written documentation. I then stated that If I did in fact owe any money, I would be happy for it to be deducted from my educational support allowance. I was told this was fine, but they could not initiate this without my credit card details!! and that because I was a student, they may let me off a bit if I give my card details now........So I swiftly told her to F**k off!
What was more weird was that she knew all my previous addresses, and left me pretty confused about the whole conversation and its validity! - John replies to SharkyIn response to this post, why would they tell me that they couldn't initiate a re payment scheme from my employment support allowance without taking my credit card details first. I was told that I would be let off a bit of the money I owe If I supply my card details now. I said I wouldn't supply any more information, unless I was written to via letter. After phoning the CSA , I was informed that they had not contacted me, and had no intensions of doing so. So obviously it is a scam, or some jobs worth scum of the earth civil servant, attempting to obtain information under false pretences!

- Anna replies to jamesThis is a Contact Centre number from Paisley and they deal with new claims to all UK benefits within a specific area in the UK. It is legitimate and the reason they may contact you and ask personal information is because the have to verify they are dealing with the customer for security and data protection. I know because I work for the DWP. If there is no answer, they should/will try again.
- Anna replies to johnJohn, we look on here because if we receive a call from an 0845, 0800, 0871 number etc req information on a customer, we check the number is legitimate and then we will check the staff members name on our internal data base and go through extra security checks. We have alot of fraudulent callers as well so we also check incase it is a debt collecting agency or nusience caller so we can report it to our security team.
