Have received calls daily for the past week.
When I answer there is no one on the line or I get just the dialling tone?? Weird!!
No one in our household banks with the HBOS group and our number is ex directory.
So by deduction, for our household,  it must be phishing or a scam.

Had a call from this number claiming to be Lloyds TSB. Lloyds TSB no longer exists as they have separated. I have an account with the TSB but the strangest thing is I changed my mobile number last week and have only given it to members of my family yet they somehow rang me on this.

This is seriously annoying me. Half of you say it's definitely Llyods/Halifax/BOS and half of you say those companies have confirmed the number to be a scam. WHICH IS IT? Make up your minds!

This number calls me every day at least twice calling my land line then immediately after my mobile.
I never answer it as I know it's a junk call but it winds me up that they call every day.

Think it's a scam. So many about nowadays. Don't give any personal details out over the phone and go into yr bank to confirm things

It's 4.30pm on Saturday afternoon and I just had a call from this number by an Indian-sounding fellow calling himself Brian (a lie). He said he was from Bank of Scotland (another lie) and I said immediately that I doubted that, at which he hesitated. I asked him what he wanted. He said again he was from Bank of Scotland and it was a business matter but first he would need to verify some personal details. No chance! I get spam calls every day, sometimes as many as 6, and can tell immediately whether or not they're genuine. I am sick and fed up to the back teeth with these scamming bar stewards who think they can invade my home and my time via the telephone and insult my intelligence by trying to cheat me out of whatever they fancy trying to cheat me out of. Really people. If we were all more savvy and less trusting, maybe this country wouldn't be plagued by these vermin. Where it says "Call Type" in the box below, can another option, "con artist", be added, because none of the other options fit.
    • Caller: Lied that they were Bank of Scotland

The number is a genuine Lloyds Banking Group number.
LBG consists of several brands, such as:
    Lloyds Bank
    Halifax
    Bank of Scotland
    see http://www.lloydsbankinggroup.com/our-brands/

However it is possible to emulate a number when making an IP or internet-call http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing
This is likely what has happened here.

    Also, LBG used to own:

    TSB
    Cheltenham & Gloucester
and operated Sainsbury's Bank on behalf of Sainsbury's

Therefore there's a good chance that by claiming to be from a Lloyds Bank 'brand' and using a genuine LBG number, some peeps will call the number and next time they receive a call from this number, automatically assume it's genuine.
Say hello, put the phone on the side and go make a cup of tea.

Simples.  Just read some of the posts for this number which appear before yours.  Quite often, by reading through previous posts you can get this question answered before making your own post.  Having said that, even if it appeasrs to be a genuine bank number never give out informatiuon to the caller.  If you bank with any of the banks they claim to be representing then contact that bank directly.

They just say they are from lloyds bank and it's bank. I have refused to discuss anything with them I have said they can write to me and I will visit my branch.

I called the call centre twice it's a number similar to their debt collections but not known to them. Lloyds say there are no notes of anyone trying to get hold of me and I have no arriers!

Anyone staying this is real is saying it because they probably work for the company, like the vast majority my view is it's fake. I spoke to the call centre for lloyds and she said that if it was urgent lloyds would write to me and I could speak with a branch.

The person on the phone also sounds East Asian so I am having the same experience I have blocked the number now! Don't think if u owe money the bank won't try to get hold of u in a way that does not make u feel uncomfortable.

Sometimes its necessary to call customers. They have to b identified to make sure your actually speaking to the right person. I'm sure u would not b happy if your banking details were given out to the wrong person.

On the contrary, I would not be happy giving banking information to a cold caller no matter who they claim to represent. In addition, the illiteracy of your post makes me wonder just how genuine your post is.  The number of people on here who do not bank with any bank the caller is claiming to represent and the number of people who have checked with their own banks and have been unable to verify the call gives sufficient cause for caution.  There are too many banking scams around to give out personal information to a cold caller.

got two calls from them regarding my mortgage account stated that his name was mick from the Philippines about the letter sent to me on the 15/10/14. They stated they were Personnel Bank  ringing on behalf of Lloyds   bank and they carried on with personnel checks. It seems from the above comments that  they are employed by the banks to chase debts. I told the person that I would not discuss this until I had received this letter they referred to, and not to call again. Sure enough I had a  call from a male named Rommel (very apt) within 45 mins so I was not best pleased pointed out that  I had already spoken to his colleague and that there  calls were now becoming harassing, and if they phoned again I would be making a complaint to the FCAS ,so you see they will be calling on behalf of umpteen different banks as it is a cheap way of hounding customers well this one ain't having it.

Please be aware that Bank of Scotland say that anyone who can come up with your account or card number along with a date of birth and address can take as much money from your account as they want and this is "not classed as fraud as no-one has benefitted from it"   Someone did this to my daughters account, and B of S say that because they had her  name, address and date of birth it  is "irrefutable proof that she authorised them to take money from her account". Someone has got £150 of her money, so someone has benefitted, but they say no fraud has taken place.
Then this number phones, saying they are bank of Scotland collections department,  and ask for the same information.
My daughter had had a terrible time with B of S, and the ombudsman is currently investigating the complaint. Needless to say she refuses to give them any details over the phone, and they are not happy.
