Got the same call as everyone else, offering fuel vouchers and a magazine for a £1 postage charge. Said no thanks, but they are clearly still scamming hard!

Had a call from 'Sapphire Magazine' around the beginning of the month after completing a survey over the phone. They mentioned fuel vouchers, I paid a £1 fee and was sent their magazine in the post. Just logged into my online banking account and have discovered they have taken a further £79.99 from my account!

I was just phoned and for £1 for legal reasons they would send me £20 fuel vouchers plus magazine with more discount vouchers. Luckily i had heard of this type of thing so refused but could easily have believed it as i did a phone survey recently. Of course they promise it's not a scam ! parasites !!!

I have also just had a call from this Sapphire mob after I reluctantly completwed a phone survey yesterday ( all my replies wer negative so they got little out of me). I became suspicious tonight when they wanted £1up front. Didnt go through with it as wanted to check the website first. Glad I did. The lad I spoke to, Daniel, stated he was from Wales, huh, didnt sound it to me apart from saying my lovely every few seconds.
This is the second scam from Wales that I have been caught up in. Whats going on there? The other one was someone wanting to act on my behalf to reclaim cash interest I could be owed for adding the cost of a mortgage change to my mortgage years ago.. This bunch wated £1750 up front as solicitors fees which would be refunded if I had no cash due back. Very convincing but way too pushy.I mean, HELLO, who is going to part with that amount of money over the phone?
Anyone else know of this one??

Unfortunately for me, unlike some posted messages, these scammers have already defrauded me and not only taken the £1 but also £79.99 from my account. I have sent an email and tried calling but there has been no reply to the email and was unable to get through on their so called contact number. I guess I've been done by these people but never again! And I will let all my friends and family know. I just stumbled on this blog that's been set up and wanted to advise anyone, just in case - they ask for their contact number and advise them to call you back when you have well and truly investigated them and their so called product/service. It is truly unbelievable that such companies still exist in this day and age.

BEWARE.   I like many others was scammed by Me Club (Sapphire).  Now I have just received a letter from YOURMEDICINECABINET.CO.UK and you guessed it, it was sent from the same address and signed by the same person, Bethan Eady. Fortunately they were unsuccessful getting £79.99 (Sapphire) as I called my bank and cancelled any payments to them.  It  would appear that because they have my card details they think that they can pull the same scam again.  My bank has imformed me that any payments to Me Club will not be honoured. I suggest that anyone who thinks that they may be a victim of such scams should contact their bank and as a last result cancel their card.
It is also worth contacting the O.F.T (Office of fair trading).

May have fallen for this because, using 1471, the call back number was 08445670460.
Man phoned from Cardiff to offer £20 petrol vouchers and magazine for Sapphire Members because I answered a survey last week and they were giving money to a cancer charity - actually I did answer one last week when in a high state of boredom and he knew the colour quoted was 'red'. So it may be elaborate. He did say the magazines would be £79.99 but the free copy did not mean I had to subscribe - 10 day cooling off period etc. Quoted phone number to use Mon-Fri 10 to 6 (I kept him speaking until 6.06pm once I looked at google and he told me there was a scam he was aware of but he had to stop work and catch the bus home) - that was 0843 507070707. He asked me to click on www.Sapphiremembers.com. That site does exist and he obviously had it open in front of him. Foolishly perhaps I gave my card number but immediately phoned my bank. We now have arrangements in place.

I am the operations manager of a similar company with offices based around the UK. I would firstly like to point out that people like yourselves, assumptively posting comments only makes telemarketing harder for companies like mine and in my opinion, the one in question also.

I had a call from a young woman in September after taking part with a telephone survey I completed about two weeks prior with a gentleman which I gather was based overseas following a recent purchase from Marks and Spencer's.

The lady explained the product well; stating it was a trial with a 14 day cooling off period for £1. I was advised if I did not cancel within this time I would be charged £79.99. I happily paid the £1 as even if there was a problem I knew that my card provider would issue a refund. I received my pack within 5 days in a prepaid 2nd class Royal Mail envelope. The welcome letter confirmed the billing dates that I was already advised of by the woman I initially spoke to.

To be honest I only took the trial to have a look at what they have to offer as it's always handy to know what similar companies have to offer.

As the product was not beneficial for myself I called the number provided in the letter and by the woman I spoke to (08435070707) in the morning however couldn't get through. I then called back roughly 3pm where a pleasant man cancelled my trial and explained I couldn't get through earlier as 10:00-12:00 was their peak time.

I have had no payments taken from my account except for the initial £1 P&P cost.

I have completed several surveys since then so it was no shock to get another call off Sapphire. I Had another call today this time a man called Shaun rang. Once I explained I had already had the trial and canceled he sincerely apologised and said goodbye.

If you don't want marketing calls your best option is to register with TPS every 6 months and don't do surveys.

Before you post negative feedback on the internet try and remember the last positive one you posted. Can't remember? No.. Most people will only ever share negative experiences with others instead of positive ones.

As soon as this country stops focusing on trying to destroy genuine organisations like mine, sapphire (me group) and many others instead of trying to fight real crimes will have a better society to live in.

I've just been called from someone on this number about receiving a 20pound petrol voucher and a free magazine if I pay 1 pound subscription I though it was dodgy as I was speaking to the person I looked it up on the web a scam and told him I don't give credit card details over the phone and said I would check it out

Yes I too was sucked into this. I'm usually pretty good at resisting these sorts of calls but on this occasion I didn't.
I paid £1 and got the magazine and petrol vouchers.
Well the scheme is not for me.
Petrol vouchers are spread throughout the year and you have to send in receipts and no doubt jump through various hoops to get a cheque .
I checked my card and as yet only the £1 had been taken.
I tried calling but just ended up hanging on the line, 0843 how much are they a minute?
I sent an email to cancel but as yet I've not had a reply.
As it was a credit card I've just reported it as lost in the hopes that will stop them taking the £80.00
I know I shouldn't really do this, but it seemed the best way, I just hope it stops them taking any more money.

Why should I need to register with the TPS every 6 months?
Once should be enough for an intelligent person.

As we all know TPS is a waste of time.
If you register and then report a call they do nothing.
I at the very least expect the head of the company to be hung drawn and quartered if the company ring me.

Instead of complaining about us poor saps who get sucked in my these companies, maybe you sort out the ones in your "industry" that give you all a bad name....!

You DO NOT need to register with TPS every six months. TPS registration lasts forever.  "J. Lee" is making a comment usually used by scammers to explain why they are 'phoning TPS registered 'phones, which gives some idea of the type of company "he" runs.  I agree that TPS is not much use.  It only works with reputable UK sales companies who sign up not to call registered numbers.  Rogue UK sales companies ignore the rules and still 'phone so they should be reported to TPS.  Even if TPS do nothing (which is usual) it means you can then report further calls to the Information Commissioner's Office.  They have got "teeth" and can impose ines if they get enough complaints.  TPS does not cover silent calls and automated calls, so these can be reported immediately to the ICO.  No-one can do anything about International, Withheld and No Caller ID calls.  I bought the BT6500 'phone which deals with those.

The best answer to all of this I've heard, is to set yourself up a premium rate phone number.
Give this number to the so called "surveys" and the like.
When they ring you just keep them talking.
All the time knowing they're paying you for the privilege.

I'm sure they'll be some law against it, there usually is if the "little man" tries to fight back.

We just went through all this on the phone and then in the end gave them a credit card number for the £1 postage. Then we went straight on to the computer and looked them up and read all your warnings.

Have been on to our credit card straight away and cancelled it, told them why no problem!
So we will manage without all their wonderful vouchers and have learnt to be more careful now, as somebody else said you get nothing for nothing in life!
Thank heavens we have learnt some of the good things on offer now like the internet! You are never too old to learn.
