I am hoping you can assist me with a chance in getting the £79.99 that they have taken from 74 year old mothers bank account. I called Sapphire today to be told that there is no chance she would be getting a refund. I asked to speak with a manager only to be told that they could noty guarantee id get a callback. I asked for the complaints process and was told i should write to a manager there (given name) but again they could not guarantee id get a response. I even asked for a copy of the call transcript to be informed that my mum would have to send a letter requesting this. I am absolutely furious that they could do this to a vulnerable elderly lady who who does not have that kind of money to be scammed by this firm. I am tempted to go visit the offices (if indeed they exist) - Tony Pattinsonon the 10/1/14 you took £79.99 from a bank account of mine, which was unorthorized, i do not know who you are, what you are, why you have stolen money from me as i am unemployed and would not or could not agree to parting with £79.99, could i have my money back, unless you want me to report you to Watchdog.
- peter stoffelsapphire called and like a idiot i gave them a pound thy then took 79.99 and sent a book 3 weeks later so i could not cancel thy are just scamers big time

- Clare Mortimer-JonesJust had a call and nearly fell for it, then realized what was I thinking of doing giving my bank card details out. They did not get my details. Lucky escape you should never give your details unless it is something you are purchasing yourself, and you know they are who they say they are.

- AnonI also used to work for this company about 6 months ago.
I believed also that Sapphire was legitimate. I left after receiving a better job elsewhere (Sapphire was a temp job). After seeing these reviews, I'm a little sick. I was under the impression that if people didn't like the magazine, they could cancel nice and easily. Sounds like the majority couldn't. Whilst I was there, all the management lot were constantly talking about a big growth of going from 20 staff to 140. With each sale they grow. So does their customer service line call list, they can't cope.
Also, I want to mention something else about what the general public can't see on the other end of the phone. At the office where the calls are made, huge incentives are layed on for the employees. Some go home with 20 sales a day, some even notch 75+ a week.
1 sale = £1in their wage slip as their bonus.
The entire sales floor also clap after an agent makes a sale. Typical positive reinforcement. Makes them try harder each time subconsciously.
I'm undecided on this company. I think a lot of people fail to understand that you have to cancel within 14 days otherwise £79.99 is billed from your account. BUT every agent is forced to tell you that. If they don't, they can get fired for it.
Like what an earlier comment says, "even McDonald's gets bad reviews" yes, true. These guys will get their fare share. - MikeWelsh girl, Jade, very pleasant informed me of survey I had completed recently. Due to this qualified for £20 fuel voucher. Asked me if it would be diesel or petrol ( first doubt, what difference would that make?) and the vouchers would arrive in the post. She asked me to confirm my address, which she had. Explained about this new magazine called Sapphire, which was about life styles and would have many voucher offers . This would be on a free trial basis and after I had read my first copy could then decide to continue or not. Was I happy with this. Why not? Then the STING , would need a pound for the postage. Great said I , let me have the website and I would do it via that. No needed just my card number , and not the security number. Sorry said I , would you tell your granddad to give this information out over the phone? Whilst this is going on find a site warning me of the scam. Said to the girl I would not be proceeding due to it being a scam. Politely rang off.
I then phoned number given 0843 5070707 which I was meant to ring to cancel . On third ring answered and I asked to cancel. Asked for reference number. Said I wished to write and given address as P Medias, Pembroke House , Spring Meadows Business Park , Cardiff , CF3 2ES .
What worries me is that only a few days ago via my A A gold membership was offered and took a year long £1 membership to dining club. They needed this so they can take renewal in one year at special low discount rate. I was fully aware of reason for tying me into this, and believe this to be a genuine marketing exercise. Equally, I have via my Oldie magazine taken short term trials of other genuine offers of magazines who have acted totally honestly. This is what makes this SCAM so nasty, it is misusing genuine schemes methods to CON.
Just reinstates we have to be so careful these days.
Final thought , if you have paid and been refused a refund do look at using the small claims courts who charge £25 , but no charge to pensioners or those on benefits . Have threatened many times with good results and used once with even quicker results including costs. Good luck.- Caller: Sapphire Magazine

- 1947buryanswered call. 'Sapphire Mag' with £20.00 of fuel vouchers (dont have a car) and free magazine, which was alleged i had agreed to accept.
I remember a call where I said I do not have a TV, or a car... - JodieHad a call off them today (03/04/14). Rang my home and then mobile. I think they realised that I was pretty savvy and wasn't going to give them what they wanted. They said they were from Sapphire Magazine and because I had 'apparently' filled in one of their surveys they were going to send me a £20 cash back fuel voucher. They asked if I drove, I said no, they said I could give it to someone who does drive.
He said he would send a copy of Sapphire Magazine with it, then asked if I had heard of it, me being polite I just said yes, I then didn't hear what he said so just said yes again and he replied "Oh well, if you have already bought it then I won't send you one out". He didn't mention anything about the £1 charge because he must have thought I had already been scammed into it. - KATHY replies to JohnI just received a call from this number saying they were Sapphire Magazine and like a previous comment asked me for a pound. I advised her politely that there was not a hope in hell that I would give her my card details. Obviously a scam. Tell them to f off if they call you
- RichardI had the same call this morning saying i am entitled to a £20 voucher for diesel to put in my car, and all it will do is cost me a £1 for the postage, i told them that I did not have a car they said I could give it to a friend, I said I didnt have my card with me so they asked if I had a friend who could pay {Alarm bells started to ring} and I said do you think i am stupid to give my card details to a cold caller and they hung up. Then I looked up the number and found its a SCAM.

- Tee replies to battleaxeI just had the same phone call it is a MASSIVE SCAM..... So glad I never gave any details out.... I hate these people...
Therefore If possible and anyone calls you check on line while you are on the phone, I appreciate not everyone has that convenience but 99.5% of the time if it sounds goods it is not always real.
The details they have just given me is:- www.sapphiremembers.com Cust Svs 0843 507 0707
DO NOT GIVE DETAILS OUT UNTIL YOU HAVE CHECKED INTO IT!!
Take Care! - Privatelook, i work for this company, and the only way we have your number is through doing surveys, some you could have done years ago, this is a way of promoting our magazing. Its £1 and we dont take security code etc. Only the card number and expiry date. i understand peoples concerns, as i would be the same. but if your happy to do it, it is a good promotion. we are a company that supports cancer charities and do a lot to help them. I do appreciate your concerns, but just wanted you to know that we are not a scam. thankyou :)
- anon replies to lollijust to make you aware, were not open at 3am, we call someone once, if they dont answer, it goes as answer machine, and they get called a few days later. your not bombarded with calls
- anonalso want to say that we are NOT allowed to sell to vulnerable people. If we think that they are vulnerable we tell them we have to terminate the call. if you ask for bank details and they are saying things like 'what, i dont even know what this is' we also terminate the call. it is unfortunate some people are vulnerable, but it is not deliberate. if you cancel in the 14 days then there is no problem. with only a few people on customer service you would need to ring a few times. were in the process of expanding and there will be a lot more customer service etc.
- Michael BarnettHi everyone,
I'm a journalist looking to write an article for Marketing Week magazine about nuisance calls and have been called by this number myself.
If you've had a call, or you work for the company mentioned, and would like to explain your experience, I'd be interested to hear from you. It can be confidential if you wish, without using your name.
You can reach me at michael.barnett@centaur.co.uk. You'll find me through Google too, in case you want to check who I am.
All the best. - Angry replies to CuriousWhere did you get your compassion from?. What a self opinionated person are you!.
Patronising individual. - Ashamed and upset.Hello everyone.
I was an employee for Sapphire as of this afternoon, and then I had my contract terminated.
This job is soulless. You are told not to pray on the vulnerable, but most of the data they pay for as a company is OAP information. They have a cord name for the elderly peoples data "Gold+ Leads"
Telephone agents are encouraged to hit targets and I know agents miss sell the product deliberately to get sales. They will purposely not tell customers about automatic charges after 14 days, or of memebership fees just so they can earn more money.
I felt sick calling up elderly people and reading off a script and almost forcing a crap product down their throats. Even if the customer says no, you are trained to object their answer and make them say yes.
I believe this to be a cold hearted operation, like I said previously, they dismissed me. I spent a 2 day period in hospital with suspected throat cancer. Then, I come in to work on the Thursday and find I'm sacked because my sales haven't increased.
Joke of a company. They probably have 5% customer satisfaction.
If I sold to any of you from the period of March -April 2014, I am so sorry. I feel ashamed that I represented this company. I sold to over 100 people and probably most got stung because they either didn't listen to me much, weren't aware of the terms and conditions, or didn't read the small print. - JasonI had a call like this earlier, how stupid of me to give my details over the phone, luckily I've manage to call bank and get my card blocked in time so £79.99 can't be taken from my account, how can people like this get away with it.

- Sue EllenI have just had a call from a man speaking so fast it was hard to follow, offering voucher for £20 asking for £1 for postage, I said I wanted a number I could call to verify, he gave me "call centre" number & a reference number to hear my conversation with him, when I called the number they said they could not connect me to the recording. A woman then called me to ask if I was going ahead, she too spoke very fast & defended the company when I told her I had seen on google that they were a scam, she said they had thousands of happy customers they save lots of money for, but she did not press me, just hung up. I am glad I did not do it as I had actually NOT seen all these complaints!!
