- Jeannie replies to bernard sshannonLooks like a lot of us got a call. Yes I did get my magazine, but reluctant to send off for my receipt to get my fuel money back as the girl on the phone said it was a voucher that I could use anywhere! NOT have to claim it back!
I did email to cancel full membership and got an email (generated and not very good english) straight back to confirm my cancellation. I was still very concerned so called my bank and they have put a block on these people taking any money from my account and have said they will refund me if it does get through.
Take care folks lots of scammers out there. I will definitely be more careful in the future! - Tracy| 2 repliesHad a call from this company this evening. Offered same deal as previous posts. Beware if a company asks for the 'long number' on your card it gives them access to repeatedly debit your account. I explained this to the representative but his response was 'we would never do that' posts on this thread and also against telephone number 0844 5671020 tell a different story

- CHI have just spent 30 mins on phone to bank to get my account blocked from these people. Cannot believe I was so stupid as to give them my details, I'm usually very careful but they were VERY convincing. Be aware that cancelling your card does not automatically stop them debiting your account. You need to speak to the Payment dispute or fraud dept of your bank.

- RA| 2 repliesCompleted a phone survey a couple of days ago and as a thankyou they offer a free fuel voucher for £25. Then last night a woman rang twice to speak to me but my partner answered and said I was out, both times.
The woman rang again today and I answered - she sounded Welsh. At the end of the survey they ask you for your favourite colour as a sort of security check for when they ring you back. She gave me all this spiel about Sapphire Magazine and how by using the discount vouchers within it you will be helping cancer charities. They ask for the £1 to cover postage and advise you that the mag subscription is £79.99 but you can cancel it any time within 14 days but still be eligible for the free fuel voucher. I asked how I would redeem the fuel voucher and that's when she got edgy and said that you send your receipt for fuel from any garage to them and they will send you a cheque for the amount! Duh!
Don't be fooled by these no ethics con artists, using the cover of helping cancer charities to rob people. Absolutely despicable.- Caller: Sapphire / Me Group

- Pauline replies to battleaxeI had the same phone call and, unfortunately, I did give them my bank details. I have now phoned my bank and cancelled my card so that they won't take any money from my account. I cannot find the right website to cancel so I thought that was the best thing to do. This would have been the second time I have been conned out of money this year, the last time the scammers took £155.00 from me, a sum I can ill afford and won't get back. Thanks all for the warning.

Contact your Bank and give details - hope you paid with your credit card. I also fell for the scam & they have taken £76.99 twice! and the 14 day period hadn't elapsed yet. - William| 2 repliesJust had this mob on the phone trying to convince me to give them my long card number and expiry date as this "only lets them take £1". This is just not true. I work in IT and recently put in an e-Payment process. These two numbers let them take as much as they like.
Do not give them your details, ever.- Caller: Sapphire Members Club
