- LLOYDCan anybody let me know what name appears on bank statement for this company as unsure if they have taken anything from my bank.... i have been on the phone to the bank and cancelled all cards would just like to know what appears on bank statement to check if they have scammed me aswell.
Thanks guys! - Lyndsey Hay replies to battleaxe| 1 replyHi, yesterday I received a call from "Sapphire Magazine" who said that I had completed an online questionnaire, and that as a thank you, they would like to send me a copy of their magazine along with 2 x £10 petrol vouchers. After a lengthy chat Hannah, Agent No 2018 said I would have to send £1 to cover p&p - which I immediately found odd. When I said I didn't have £1 in my bank account she went very quiet and then said that as soon as I have £1 in my account I am to call 0843 507 0707. The subscription to this magazine was to be £79.99 but this would save me so much money over the year?????
Obviously I have not been back in touch with this so called company. I did check out the magazine, which turns out to be a magazine for Gay women, and they only have a online magazine which is free. They reported that they had already received emails from british women who have been targeted as I was yesterday.
These scammers should be stopped, and if all we can do is report them on sites such as this one, well I do believe it is a step in the right direction. - RacingGirlie replies to Lyndsey HayJust to say Lyndsey Hay is not my real name - just in case there are spammers reading this message!
- goldy| 9 repliesSapphire magazine isn't a magazine for gay women! It's a nice little mag full of nice reviews! I have worked for them and there are only about a hundred of you who had bad experiences! Around 200 people a day do take up their no obligation trial to the membership. DO THE MATHS!! If it was a scam they would be out of business!! Duh!!

- g replies to dottiei fell for this scam as well after not receiving voucher phoned up and cancelled payment then found they still took it as they said i cancelled 3 days after 14 days trial period , girl i spoke to said it was cancelled and they would not take the 79.99. Have phoned up quite a few times about getting a refund and keep getting told its with the accountants who will deal with it but not as priority as cancelled after trial period. two months later i am still trying to get it back,it feels that i am been giving the run around and it is a big scam. Every time I ask to speak to a manager they are either not there or in meeting. Phoned to day and,i was told to write in and ask for refund the address i was given if anyone is interested is Pembroke House,Springmeadow,Cardiff CF3 2ES that is of course if it is their true address

- Victoria Openshaw replies to fairydust1I telephoned Sapphire on 08435070707 in order to cancel my recently acquired membership. It was dealt with quickly and within seconds I was informed that my membership is now cancelled. Will now contact my bank to block any payments to this group.
- Alison Taylor| 1 replyI got scammed too, the number I rang was 08435070707. The first Customer services assistant was rude and hung up on me the second was polite and helpful but I don't feel I will get a refund despite them telling me it would take 21 day.

- LilianOriginally a company called me to conduct a survey, soon after I had a follow up complimentary call claiming I was eligible for a £20 petrol voucher which I can use in the UK for a year and then offered to send me a magazine. After reading your stories I rang my bank account and BLOCKED this company from further attempting to scam me. I suggest you deactivate your card and have your bank re-issue another to save your self £79.99

- DolphinSimilar to other accounts on here. Completed a phone survey (never again) & next day was contacted by 08445670460 and asked for debit/credit card details for £1 postage so I could receive £20 fuel vouchers. Woman on the phone did say they were linked to cancer charities. It was mum's phone, she's over 70 and doesn't have internet access. They are friendly & sound plausible so it's easy to see how people can be taken in. As soon as I told her I'd no cards (I can lie too) she hung up. Not sure about the legalities so maybe just a case of raising awareness, contacting tv & radio programmes that may cover this.
