Had several calls from 084456704560, all asking for me by name and claiming to be Sapphire magazine.      When asked where they got the ex-directory number they claimed I had filled in a survey.    I do not do surveys and told them so.    Call terminated

hi their like ther posts ive seen, a chap phoned up, very intense offering me the petrol voucher, though had to pay a pound, when i said no thanks he said that my decision was ludicrous, i picked him up on this and he began saying unhelpfull i was considering they were offering me £20 and all i had to give was a pound, ( by giving me card details) fourtuantly he called when i was on form, and unlike me i ended the call by a f**k off, i called the number he gave 08435070707 and got a reply, i complained to the person claiming to be custermor services

Like a lot of people i also answered a survey on the phone and for a fee of £1 I could have £10 worth of fuel free, .then 6 days later they phoned and said as I was still on their system i was entitled to the same again so took it, i have found out that they can take £80 from my account.when the first magazine arrived I tried to cancel and found it impossible to do so i contacted my bank and they have done it for me, they also said be warned that there is another one out there doing the same with weight loss.

I was called today, same story, I kept them on the phone for about 10 minutes before they rang off.

For some reason, they were unable to send me a £19.00 petrol voucher, even though they knew my address.

If you wish to cancel, you can call 08435070707 and they are open 10-6 Monday til Friday, I have taken the trial a few weeks ago, got my cashback and managed to cancel with no problems, I'm happy with the services and don't understand why anyone is annoyed, i also emailed cancel@sapphiremembers.com to double check so you may want to try that!

Just had a similar call from Sapphire Magazine. I told them I was not prepared to give bank details to a cold caller. He said it wasn't a cold call as I had responded to a survey!! He also said that the bank card details weren't secure information!! What planet is he living on - Planet Scam I think. I put the phone down on him. The answer is never respond to telephone surveys in the first place.

I got this call today, for a second I nearly got sucked in but thank goodness I stuck my ground and refused to give my card details over the phone even after several attempts of the caller trying to persuade me.  He said he will phone back this afternoon after I have looked at their webpage.  Well after reading this forum I can't wait to give him a piece of my mind!

Thanks for all the warnings. I also said I would not give my details over the phone and that I would like to check out the company first. I was told to read about Sapphire Membership on the internet and then I would see that they were genuine and I have seen exactly the opposite. I am grateful for people like you who take the trouble to warn others. Good advice not to give out your bank details over the phone.

I was called about a week ago from a company doing a general survey which I was fine with. Then got another call yesterday offering a £20 petrol voucher and saying they would need £1 for p&p. Gave them my long card number and expiry date. Then googled it as I had a bad feeling, saw that people were saying it was a scam and phoned my bank and cancelled my card right away. Also moved all of my money into another account. 24 hours later and nor £1 or £79.99 has been taken thankfully. Can't believe I was so stupid!

    ME!
Me Group International - yes they seem like a standup bunch of people - given that their advertised head office number has been disconnected.

I used to work for this company , i am ashamed to say!. . . . they do not make it clear to any outbound sales employees the magnitude of scam that they are running. . . . literally running to the hills by tieing people up in payments that they are not expecting , nor have legally had processed. To answer your question, trading standards, Ofcom and Ofgem are your best chances of making a complaint.

It doesn't matter how many times you say "my lovely" when you phone me (quite why you think that's appropriate is another matter) — I don't want your magazine.

I too have been scammed by this company, they have promised me twice since May I would definatley get a refund, not only have they took my money but they have breached their contract by not sending anything in return. After two phone calls PROMISING a refund, I was told on my third call that their accounts department had now decided I wasn't having my money! I am now looking into the small claims court, has anybody successfully got their money back and how?

Keep them on the phone for as long as you can afford to have your line engaged. It'll cost them chickenfeed compared with what they get off vulnerable people, but at least it's something, and it does mean that the time they spend on your line is time not spent scamming someone else.

Small Claims Court: Have they already taken £100 or more from you? If not, it's not eligible for the Small Claims Court. However, Trading Standards may be able to help.
