- NeoI have had to switch my phone off, I have now had 15 calls in the last two days!! I haven't answered hoping that it will stop but it hasn't. It is really pissing me off and stressing me out now, 9am on a Sunday morning is not funny nor when I am at work and my mobile goes every five minutes. I don't know what to do, someone help please.
- SnoozyYip.. know what you mean. I had a huge row with an Indian sounding woman yesterday. WHO ARE YOU I asked, she said she was phoning from the Halifax. I argued the hell out of that :)
Next one that phones, I'll try selling double glazing to them. Or just Moo down the phone... Is Mr blahblah there? MOOO. Can I speak to so and so? MOOO.
*Insert at least ten strong swear words here*
pffffffff- Caller: Halifax... possibly
- samanthaThese people have been constantly phoning me. I refuse to answer the calls as I have read about this on the net. I dont have a clue who they are, but I am calling Bank Of Scotland to find out if they are in anyway realted to them. They call about 5 times a day but NEVER leave any answer messages. I called the number back from my office phone and it is an answer machine that talks saying ''One of our representatives tried calling you earlier, we will try again later'' I want tro know how the hell they are getting my mobile number!!
- MartinBeen having these calls from this number "08445811014" for about a week now. Keep ignoring them but they are so persistent. Is it really the Halifax. I suppose I did have an account with them which is owed some funds. Dunno whether to answer or not. Is it really a scam number?
- samanthaThis is HALIFAX/BANK OF SCOTLAND related calls. They seem to call if there are any arrears on any accounts you have with BOS or HALIFAX. I answered the call last night as they called my house and the person I spoke to asked me to confirm my postcode so I did, once I confirmed this she then said it was in relation to my Credit Card with them in which i actually have missed payments so i don't think it is a scam afterall! Hope this helps
- Caller: HALIFAX
- J LonghurstThe phone hasn't stopped all day with this number. It is driving me crazy!!!
- LBrownI have been getting calls from this number for about a week, the other day there was 6 calls left on my answer machine. I am glad I googled this number as I would have given out information if and when I actually answered the call.
When I did a call back the only comment was "A representative called today and will call back in the future". I will not now answer my phone at all and let it go to answer machine and if it is anybody that really wants to get in touch then they can leave a message.
Thanks again.- Caller: no idea
- Michael HumphreysGot a call from this company twice today, when i called it back their answer machine just said that one of their reps would be in touch shortly - i'm guessing if it was Halifax then they would at least state that on their answer machine!
- RSRThe calls come from a credit card debt collector, I had missed a £30 payment on my Amazon/Halifax credit card and when I checked this with the credit card company they confirmed that my details had been forwarded to the "collection department". I complained about the unprofessional and right out rude behaviour of the callers and was given the phone number 0870 8501291 to lodge a complaint (weekdays only), I should ask to speak to a manager (let's see where this takes me). The complaint number points both to HBOS and directly to a debt collector - check this at: http://saynoto0870.com/search.php
- Caller: Halifax
- anonThis number has been calling me for 5 days, every two hours without a break through the night,,, am requesting my service provider to block calls from this number.
- Caller: unknown
- FIRST ASSISTFirst Assist work for the Halifax selling the Halifax Personal Accident Plan. If you check on the Halifax website they are listed under Insurance then Personal Insurance.
They are also listed on the Financial Services website.
Some of the comments here do not understand the situation so jump to conclusions. First Assist call Halifax customers selling a Halifax product.
The company have your details as they are acting for the Halifax. They confirm your details to ensure they are speaking to the right customer (you would not want them discussing your personal details with just anyone, you would complain about that!)
Customers call have agreed to be contacted (sometimes, to be honest because they have failed to tick the box)
TPS does not cover you if you have agreed to be contacted by the particular company
Some comments about Indian, Nigerian or Irish people etc are racist and shocking. You should be proud of yourselves.
How come this number is either First Assist/Collection Agency or First Direct....they can't all be right.
Check your facts guys and just say no if you are not interested instead of trying to be clever by being rude.
Think how nice it would be if people were deliberately rude to you in your job. - A customerDear First Assist,
you say, "Check your facts guys and just say no if you are not interested". But on the call I just took, the caller wouldn't say what it was about until I'd given out personal information. They said it concerned my HBoS account. But it doesn't really, does it?
Would you like to explain how saying, "I am calling to see if you're interested in buying personal accident insurance" is in any way "discussing your personal details". It is not. It's not on the script the operators are given because if it were, more people would put the phone down more quickly.
I'm afraid that arguing that it is to protect a customer's confidentiality is just nonsense. It may be what you have been told, but it's still nonsense.
I don't envy you being on the wrong end of it, but it's not really surprising that people have strong emotional reactions to these calls. - A customerJust got another one. I said, "if you can tell me exactly why you are calling I'll give you the information" and they rang off.
Was it rude of me to ask why someone was calling my home? - leannenumerous phone calls from this number, both home land line and mobile. Does anyone know who they actually are?? Never anyone on end of line when i do answer (on landline, started ignoring mobile)!!
- paul carlinthis number phoned never left a message i tried calling back it was an answering service saying that someone would call me back the line then went dead
- anonymous alexKeep ringing 4-6 times a day, they wont disclose information and neither will i Be very cautious!!! Is there a way that these calls can be blocked! They know some of my personal details which is not good....(not given by me)
- Caller: bogus halifax
- PeteGeting quite a few calls a day, had a feeling something was wrong and didn't answer. Dialled 1471 and 0844 etc kept coming up. I'm with the Halifax so will ask a few related questions if I ever speak to anyone - see if they know anything about the company. Could be entertaining if nothing else, it would be nice to hear the blighters squirm!
- evie808they have called me a couple of times but i don't answer. sound dodgy.
- mattThey wanted my year of birth and postcode - they offered to give me a number i could phone, but I thought they were phlishing, so I refused that too. Glad I now know it's a scam.
- lukeCall from Halifax too. Asked for postcode confirmation and I asked if they could confirm they were Halifax. They couldn't but said they'd send a letter to me instead.
I didn't think I had a Halifax account but I do! It's an Amazon Mastercard and I was overdue (oops! forgetful me huh?). So those who don't think they have a Halifax account, it might be from another company.
