I received a call from this number on my home phone on Tuesday, a woman stating she was calling from Halifax about a 'personal business matter' and asked for my postcode. I said I wouldn't give personal details out over the phone, and they said they would write instead.

Later on the same day, I got a call on my mobile from the same number, saying exactly the same thing, but asking for my date of birth. I told them I wouldn't give it out, and they then said they could see I had requested the information in writing instead.

I phoned Halifax, they said they could not see any reason why they would be calling me and would pass the details to their fraud team.

Around November last year I had bogus calls from someone claiming to be from Halifax bank to my mobile, i hadn't given my mobile number to any banks therefore refused to give them any details. Although now I've been receiving calls from the number mentioned here (08445811014) to my landline and to my mobile but am refusing to answer because as I said, there is no way that they would call my mobile phone if it was a genuine call.

It's pretty frustrating.. I did record my conversation with them once on my mobile phone but apparently nothing can be done to stop these people. :-|

Another call claiming to be HBOS, this time on my mobile!!!

Called HBOS fraud team, they confirmed this definately not one of their numbers and not to give out any details. Next time they call my mobile i'll be keeping them on for as long as possible, see if I can run their bill up a bit!

In the end I took to telling them they had the wrong phone number, it took about 4 days of it but they seem to have given up now

They just called land line, different voice this time - last one was african woman, this one was an english woman.  Hung up on them quite quickly, though before I did she said she would send out a letter.

got 3 calls in space of 2 days and one of them on my mobile?? from this number. wanted me to provide Post code and DOB when i refused they refused to explain why except that they were from Halifax and they needed to discuss one of my accounts. I called Halifax and they believeit to be a scam and that umber is being investigated.

This IS the halifax, not a scam.

This number has been calling my on my mobile and house number for over a week now,they call about 8 times a day. How do they know my name and number?!?

Received a call from this number who hung up when I answered.
This was a bogus call.
Maybe they hoped I would call them back to add insult to injury.
This could be fraud scam as many elderly folk will call them back to a premium number.
I will report number to BT.

Well I had a call from this wonderful number, and out of habit, I dont answer if I dont recognise it.  (Caller ID).  So can anyone actually say for sure that this is Halifax??
I have a savings & credit card with them, so I would have easily been duped into giving them my details...

Called my mobile and never left msg.

I answer the call, ask them to hang on a sec, then put the phone on the table and carry on with what i was doing. Make the [***] in the call centres wait fruitlessly for a change, give them a taste of their own medicine, it's more fun. they hang up once they've realised there time has been wasted.

Asked for Maureen....refused to say what number he was trying to contact and then hung up. Possibly a black person judging by his accent. Phoned 3 times in one day. Must be a scam!!!

several missed calls with no messages left. On first returning the call I got an automated message stating that no representatives are currently available but the message didn't state who was being represented. I then got another call back which i missed so 1471 and same number. this time i get a short message and then are put through to someone named rick. His telephone manner is poor, not what i would expect from the Halifax. He wants my card number.   i ask him who he represents he says retail collections for halifax,  bank of scotland and sainsburys. I ask who he is employed by he says the halifax. i get his name and an employer number (420736). I terminate the call and phone halifax customer relations. The employer number checks out as does the name! The chap i speak to says hes had a few similar inquiries and that it does sound suspicious and could be possible for employer details to be leaked.

Its either a very elaborate scam or just poor customer service. Now this is the thing i did miss my last credit card payment, so there is just reason to be getting the call, but never in all my life have i experienced such an unprofessional means of handling a customer. I will be following this up to see if it was genuine. If this is the Halifax I want a bloody good explanation for this treatment.

1> if you phone a customer and they don't take the call leave a message stating who you are (company and employer name) and a contact number

2> when answering a phone state clearly who you are  (company, department and employer name)

3> if no one can take a customer call have an appropriate automated message in place which  again states the company and department

this is a scam, they wanted my personal details and claimed to be from the bank of scotland. do not fall for this!

Missed call on my phone, called the number back and all I got was "one of our respresentatives tried to call you, they will try again later".  If they cant leave a message then I wont be receiving the calls as is rude and also very suspicious

Do not answer the phone! Refuse to give any details! It is a scam they are not Halifax or Bank of Scotland!

Yes I have had this numer 08445 811015 call me previosuly and got a load of abuse after I said I didnt do any business over the phone. They have called again tonight, I had the caller on speaker phone and she pretended that she couldnt hear me and hung up.

I get four calls a day from the number. I have said that I refuse to give any details over the phone and have asked them to contact me by letter; they haven't done this, only continue to phone. They may in fact be the Halifax, but are sooooo unprofessional.
