How are these clowns getting my mob no and home no is it some [***] from bank giving details?

recieved 2 missed calls from them. phoned back and recieved recorded message advising that it was bank of scotland and that they would call back later.

0844 5811014 has been calling me, havent answered it as I can guess its from a credit card company about a missed payment. Sainsburys bank as other comments have suggested is the most likely culprit.

I am getting calls from this number on my landline and my mobile.  I have to unplug my home phone and silence my mobile as my phones are ringing constantly all day and all night.

These calls come every hour on my mobile, but reading the above comments I will definitely not be picking up!

I had several calls from 08445811014 this week. They stay silent, then hung up.

I just had a call from these people. They stated they were from Halifax and wanted my date of birth for their security (Which I gave, stupidly). They then said they were having a problem with their system and would have to hang up and call back later.
I checked with Halifax and this is not one of their numbers. They are investigating.

I can't believe this scam is still running! How hard is it to close these thieving [***] down. We have the number. HBOS said they know about it and to report it to the Police.
Had a very official sounding Irish woman saying it was an important business matter and that these calls would continue until I gave them the information. When pressed for her details she would only say her name was Catherine. Is PLOD on the case or are they too busy raiding MPs with the anti terrorist Police?

Had a call from this number at least 10 times over the last week. answered 2 times, once it went silent then a lady said hello and i hung up, then the second time i left it silent and waited for her to speak and they just hung up.

im a student on my holiday and i certainly dont appreciate being called by it at 9 in the morning waking me up!!

I suggest everyone who has had problems phones up their phone company and blocks the number.

I have just got a call from this number (not the first call).  I thought it was the Nigerian guy off phonejacker.  It sounded so fake.  I have spoke to halifax who said it was definately a scam.  They are so rude and pushy.  Chase these punks.  the next time they phone i am blowing a whistle, if they are going to annoy me, i am going to try and deafen them.

This number phones my mobile at least four times a day including Sundays!! They have just phoned my work number!!! When I do chose to answer the call, which at work I have no choice, they are of an african/carribbean sounding ethnicity and they ask me to confirm my date of birth and postcode. I ask what they are calling about and they say it is a personal business matter. I say that unless they tell me what it is regarding then I will not give them any information. Allegedly this time they are to put it in writing!!
I have already checked this with Halifax and they say that if they phone they will only ask for your year of birth and then read your details to you. To check it is genuinely Halifax, take the callers name and number and ring Halifax to check it is legitimate and they will then connect you if it is.
I am on Telephone Preference but these buggers won't stop ringing! It is ruining my working day and my weekends!

Absolute torture

I've had calls for three weeks now, and am getting pretty chessed off.
The calls are becoming increasingly aggressive.
I am registered with the TPS (land line and mobile), but this makes no difference. I have complained to the TPS and Ofcom, but the calls keep on coming.
These people claim to be from the Halifax, (and I used to have accounts with them) but I called Halifax Customer relations today (08457 25 35 19)who were very helpful. The people calling are First Assist, and they gave me the number 02087 63 33 33 to call.

Lets all call them and give them some hassle!

Just had a couple of silent calls from this number, if this was a member of public doing this they could be prosecuted for making nuisance calls! If it is a bank I hope they get what's coming with the credit crunch!

Just made a complaint on the home office / consumer direct website.
