Rieceved a call to-day from 08450304400 . Scotish voice ask me to press 3 then 9 and that would stop me getting any more calls "  WhyBother Ringing " ???????    Whats it all about ?

Called today, when put phone down the call continued !!!   Pressed the hash # key several times and held it down for about 20 seconds, this cleared the call.

If you want to .........press 1, 2, 3, etc

Says to opt out press 9 but then continues with the message.

called from this number on answer machine. ive got new number so dont know how they got it.

Recorded message. Something about a survey so I hung up. Then it occured to me that this doesn't terminate the call. Picked the phone up again to hear the voice burbling on. I didn't press any buttons and so the voice said "sorry we did not detect a response". It didn't like being ignored and went away quite soon.

We have caller id on handset so I didn't pick up as I loathe 08450 numbers. Perhaps they are hitting Glasgow area now.

i received a computer generated recorded call from 'The Hot House Energy company' it was an unsolicited call I am registered with the TPS so i don't expect to receive calls like this. they did not identify who they were i found out from BT.
The TPS told me they don't deal with CG calls and put me onto the Information commissioners office who have told me to fill out a form online. i will do this.
i googled the name of the company and it came up with this site so i thought i would report it to you as well and i can see that there have been numerous complaints for a long time. it really should be stopped by now.
i couldn't stop the call, how did they get my number? Disturbing to say the least.

I have been in touch with The Hot House energy company and they put me through to the Market research company who deal with their business research. Curvedare Marketing solutions.
I was polite and so were they.
They are looking into the fact that the opting out by pressing 9 is not working and that the identification of the company is not clear. They are deleting my number from the list and will also contact the place they bought my number from.
I am giving them a chance to put it right. I hope it works. I am very glad to have dealt with it like this rather than in anger. Businesses need to do their market research and this company does research for small high street companies. I am not complaining to the information commissioners office as it does not warrant it.
I am happy that it has been dealt with openly and honestly.

Keep getting this as a missed call. annoying.  and our number is a skype-in number.
if it doesnt stop, i'm going to send a large, standard (and if possible) automated email requesting they remove my number every day until they remove my number.

I get this call so many times a day, it is driving me nuts..

I got a call like the ones below.  Does any one know if they are scamming to get money from the bill. I've had TPS and am also x directory for years.

It's called sugging.

1) Curved Air company phone up with a survey

2) Later or on another day a Hot House company phones to sell you overpriced rubbish saying you completed a survey (pressing 9 does not work so you complete the survey they say)

3) It's an old scam that TPS and DMA don't do a damn thing to prevent.

4) NEW Legislation is required to allow consumers to opt out of marketing and survey calls as well as sales calls.

The only current remedy is to e-mail them asking them to remove you from all lists and to cc the ICO.
Then to inform the ICO of a data protection breach when they contact you again.

I've been looking back on the list and it looks like a new way of getting people to play for another call preference service to me. I've now been contacted my provider and will be blocking them that way.

I have received these calls and I am XD  Exdirectory, BT cannot explain where this company have obtained my phone numbe from. I used to work for Bt and EXDIRECORY call are never listed on their screens it only shows as the area code then XD/NO - which means exdirectory , no calls offered, the BT people dont even see the number. This market research company are a pain the backside.

Got a call from them 12:35 on 21/7/11.

The Telephone Preference Service (TPS) is a free service. It is the official central opt out register on which you can record your preference not to receive unsolicited sales or marketing calls. It is a legal requirement that all organisations (including charities, voluntary organisations and political parties) do not make such calls to numbers registered on the TPS unless they have your consent to do so.
Organisations with which you have an ongoing relationship, for example those who regard you as a customer, (or in the case of charities - a donor) may well gather your consent during the early stages of your relationship with them and will therefore be entitled to call you even if your number is registered on TPS, unless you have previously told them specifically that you object to them calling you for marketing purposes.
The TPS can accept the registration of mobile telephone numbers, however it is important to note that this will prevent the receipt of marketing voice calls but not SMS (text) messages. If you wish to stop receiving SMS marketing messages, please send an 'opt-out' request to the company involved.
As TPS registration only prevents marketing calls, organisations will still be able to call you for the purposes of genuine market research.

It is worth reflecting on the fact that registering may well prevent you from receiving relevant and worthwhile information. For instance charities find telemarketing to be an economical way to raise awareness and much needed support.
If you are happy to receive telemarketing calls from some companies but not others, contact the companies who you do not wish to hear from and ask them to remove your details from their call lists. What do we ACTUALLY DO for YOU?
