had a call of 0845030440 couldn't understand one word why are they aloud to do so and annoy people with there call

Called our number without our prior consent.  Automated message asking about energy usage/concerns.  Quite obviously market.  Put the phone down but when I pick it up over a minute later the message was stil continuing

This has got to stop.

You can zero rate these pests here. Endless calls from these idiots and pressing 9 does nothing! Grrrr!

1) A Curved Air company phone up with a survey

2) Later or on another day a Hot House company phones to sell you overpriced rubbish saying you completed a survey (pressing 9 does not work so you complete the survey they say)

3) It's an old scam that TPS and DMA don't do a damn thing to prevent.

4) NEW Legislation is required to allow consumers to opt out of marketing and survey calls as well as sales calls.

5) The current remedy is to e-mail them asking them to remove you from all lists and to cc the ICO.

6) Then to inform the ICO of a data protection breach when they contact you again.

Annoying idiots.  Recorded survey.  I'm with TPS, too, so this is well out of order!!

It is likely your number is not on any list and they make calls randomely and irrespective of who they call. Best bet is to hang up, the ico probably wont help, neither will ofcom or the police and changing number probably wont help either as you may recieve another random call probably in the future if they are continuing such practice. Probably as described they may be getting people to call back and may receive a proportion of the charges so might just be doing this as a way of making money which potentially if they are not providing anything could be deemed fraud. Wouldn't surprise me if they are not even based in the uk.  Best bet is to try to block number if your service provider or phone will allow this.

I have signed up to not receive such calls so why am I receiving them.

No one does anything to stop these calls. TPS seems powerless or doesn't care- it seems that they are just another quango taking money for nothing.

0845 0304400 - "energy survey". Do not press any numbers, just let the caller keep talking and when no response from you they will hang up. Its their phone bill!

First time for a couple of weeks I've had a call from this number ,not as I bother to answer it anyway..! but they left message  about a prize draw but you can press '9' to opt out ,but I just deleted the message which is the easy option.

Same as above.  Hung up but 'phone did not clear for a couple of minutes.  How I wish TPS could include  survey calls.  So far, I am registered with TPS and Silentcallguard as well as paying my 'phone company for withheld number blocking.  This does get rid of about 95% of UK calls but is totally useless
against the overseas rubbish.

Once again, i am being hassled by these morons claiming to do an energy survey. Can't these people be outlawed? They are becoming a serious nuisance and call regardless of subscription to telephone preference Service.

phone rang, answered it, recorded message about a survey in our area, said i wasnt interested and hung up. Rang 1471 to get the number and the recorded message was still playing, tried again and it was still playing.

This company is a pest whoever they are, I had a call it was obviously a automated call, which I did not respond to I put the phone down but shortly after it rang again, I listened for a very brief time it was asking me to complete a survey, I put the phone down again.
I am on TPS but when you get these automated calls you cannot tell them this.

Just had this call this morning, I think the recorded message said it was "Curvedale (?) Market Research"

I hung up straight away.

Idiots.

It doesn't matter whether you are ex-directory, registered with the TPS or whatever, this company is calling numbers randomly (war dialling)!
Last week they called one of my unlisted numbers, today they called another (sipgate) unlisted number which doesn't even route to a phone.
Their number wants reporting far and wide on every social networking site you belong to so that people are aware of their obnoxious practices!
Their opt-out by the way just confirms to them that they have hit a working number and they will keep pestering you.
